I’m a British guy living in Michigan USA now. Over the last few years I’ve been adding to my whiskey collection. Elmer T Lee is top of my “ looking to buy” list. I wish I had bought some bottles when it was available for $45!!!!! Anyway I just got back from the Kentucky bourbon trail and I picked up quite a haul. Sadly no E T L. But I’ll keep looking. Anyway I love your channel and insights, I’m now purchasing the Stetson Marshall 4x this week. Keep up the great work. Also NEVER put sprite or really ANY mixer in good bourbon.

I had originally planned to do more bourbon reviews and histories, but while several of my Stetson hat videos have tens of thousands of views, this one on Elmer T. Lee has only about 800. It didn't take long for me to get the message. The Stetson Marshal was out of production for some years, but I noticed after my video, which has almost 100,000 views, was posted, they began making it again. Maybe it's just a coincidence. My norms are the basic blanton, eagle rare and wild turkey 101. I went to a friend's house to taste blantons gold and pappy van Winkle long story short I had an anaphylactic reaction and had to go to the emergency room. Had to be the Spices but was worth the ER visit lol
Oh the good ole days when you could get that for $40 and Rock Hill Farms for $65 .. Rock Hill has gotten crazy expensive!! Much better than Blantons too. Ya gotta know somebody now to get stuff at retail.

Thanks for the kind words. I’m rather brand loyal to Stetson though I know Hatco owns them. My Dad grew up in Texas during the Great Depression and considered Stetsons the ultimate hat, and I wear them in memory of him.
I enjoyed this video quite a lot. I’m not familiar with this brand of bourbon, Elmer T Lee. But I’m not a huge bourbon aficionado. (But I did know the sprite was a bad idea lol.) Out of curiosity, how do you feel about non-bourbon whiskeys? Dare I even say the words, Tennessee whisky?
Thanks for the kind words, Bubba. I’m from the Deep South, so bourbon is all I’ve ever known. I’m cool with Tennessee whiskey, though. It’s just bourbon that’s been poured through a vat of charcoal.

I live like 10 minutes from Buffalo trace and have almost all their bourbons. If you get a chance, do a tour there and they will save the bourbon of the day back for the end of the tour. Some days its blanton, next day may be Elmer t lee of weller. you can travel to four roses, which is about 20 minutes away, Woodford reserve is about 15min away, and wild turkey about 20 minutes away.
I stayed in Louisville a few years ago and toured Old Forester, Evan Williams, Peerless, Stitzel-Weller, and Makers Mark. I’m planning a return trip to stay in Lexington soon and hope to visit the ones you mentioned.
I have been down the bourbon trail a few times. I would say that among the many wonderful distilleries, Buffalo Trace and Makers Mark really stand out above the rest.
Have ever tried Jefferson’s Ocean Aged At Sea? I have always been a Buffalo Trace man, but I was given a bottle of Jefferson’s and I really enjoy it also.
I was gifted a bottle several years ago and was a bit underwhelmed. I think the whole "aged at sea" shtick is intended to make what is essentially a mediocre bourbon seem more special. But if you enjoy it, it's all good, Bubba. As my late father used to say, "If everyone had the same taste, Baskin Robbins wouldn't need 31 flavors."
@@historynerdsmancave7567 I think maybe because it was free it tasted better. Here in central Fl it goes for $90.00 a bottle, I would never pay that much. The Blanton’s at the he distillery was only $35.00 But I also like Makers. Did you ever get the Stageline hat?
Interesting that Mr. Lee would drink it with Sprite. Someone that was such a master at Bourbon making would choose to drink it that way...... destroying the flavor. It's like taking a rare famous Pinot Noir and diluting it with a Pepsi. Unbelievable!

Elmer T Lee sells for $650 a bottle near me.
