Thanks for the Update!! This is great news! I am so glad to hear they took that out of there. I have been so busy I had not been able to follow up on it. The original House Bill made no sense...In my initial analysis of that Bill I found they in one spot they were asking the Department of Defense to take apart and investigate the DJI Drones, and then in another section it (where they were trying to ban DJI), they were assuming the results of that investigation (the one in the SAME bill) that had not even been completed yet!! Did you notice this? It does not really matter anymore anyways, but if my interpretation was correct, it made absolutely no sense!!!
Last week, Adam Bry made a post on linked in about how "some people have been extremely hateful towards Skydio because they think we're lobbying, we arent" etc etc. FUNNY HOW HE WILL SAY THAT ON LINKEDIN... BUT NOT UNDEROATH. GEE I wonder why... Maybe if Adam and Skydio spent money on R&D and a manufacturing pipeline, they'd be able to release products actually capable of competing in the open market, instead of banning their competition.

I have noticed the stock prices of DJI have gone way up since they began to threaten the ban. I would suspect insider trading by the people that are pushing the bill. Just like every time they ban 'assault weapons', sales double or triple.
We need to have a public relation plan as a hobby to help reduce the chances in the future. Including introducing Congress members to video drone and FPV and let them experience the fun as observers.
my company is looking to invest money into DJI for mapping purposes maybe something like a Matrice, are you saying that we should move forward with that ? and not have any issue with the current model that we would purchase now ?

But American companies have had 10 years to build better drones... than DJI and they have failed to do so. DJI has set the standard for a good quality drone. DJI is built around listening to customers. American drone companies are not going to want to do that they're going to want to build a drone and charge you an outrageous price for the drone. And that's why I want this whole thing to just fall down in the sand and disappear deep into the quicksand. We all live in a country where everything is overpriced at this moment

That's just the requirement of a report on the sharing of drone (along with other) technology between Chinese and Russia and the impact of that shared technology on the United States. A common requirement on these Acts. In essence asking for evidence of drone and other technologies that might be a risk to the US. I suppose if they find supported evidence that would be bad, but so far there doesn't seem to be any real evidence involving DJI (unless we aren't privy to it).

Not following the logic here. If there is a ban, there will be no new drones to buy in the future. Also if there is a ban, you wont be able to get insurance for the drone to protect yourself. And you are suggesting to not comply with Remote ID as well. How does make any sense?
Even if it'll be a 4-5 years plan of making American consumer level drones (good enough competing DJI's) - those drones will cost 4-5 times more than DJI's 😁 And I'm not even talking about closing the market for Chinese (DJI) drones for real. If you're the only seller on the block and the market belongs to you (AKA consumers have no choice) - would you care to maintain quality and "competitive" prices? Don't answer 😁👍
With all the regulations on where you can or can't fly is more than effective to keep people from flying in restricted areas. My Mini 4 Pro will not take off unless it is in an authorized area. So the hobbyist with an off the shelf drone just can't go and start spying on a secured area. Plus with the SmartID and the ability to see all drone pilots locations, it also would make it very difficult to use a regular off the shelf drone to spy on restricted locations.
This isn't big news. The push to ban DJI is coming from the House, not the Senate. From the very beginning of this, we were always gonna have to wait for the reconciled verson.

Called it, due to the Bill Reconciliation Process, when the Senate bill and the House bill do not match, those "extra" items are dropped. This allows them to pass spending bills, while at the same time "Blow Harding for their constituency" without actually DOING anything. Said this was a big nothing burger quite a few times in the last three months.
yeah but how much will American made drones cost? 3 or 4x's a chinese made drone? for what? just braggin rights? or less plastic? unless they can make a drone that allows us over an hour of continuous flight and Cellular capable then i dont see the big deal. If I had to choose between gun ownership and drone ownership I’d gladly give up drone ownership. My mini 4 pro isn’t going to protect my family like a shotgun, pistol or rifle can.
