They don't sell civilian drones anymore because their business model is "Come with bare minimum functionality we can sell to US Law Enforcement agencies at 4x the price once Chinese drones are banned" Its wild how badly the US has fumbled on drones. Unless China reforms their labor force laws where cheap labor is abolished and are over burdened by environmental and other regulations that increases companies overhead like in the US.... then its never gonna happen.

I would fully support American-made drone product if those products were on the same level as DJI’s product. So far, they are not. It is very backwards to me compared to how I things were growing up. Things made in China had been considered inferior in material and quality. this is not the case with DJI drones. 3DR was inferior, Skydio was inferior, and really, FLIR’s SIRAS is inferior. There is a reason I’ve had four DJI drones and no others. I’ve flown the others and just was not convinced they were better. It really baffles me that this is the state of things. Skydio knew they were going this route when they abandoned the consumer market and are now pushing to eliminate their competition. Dirty pool.

Hello, If a ban does somehow go through would the current models that DJI has still be sold in the United States? All the information I have read/heard mentions then the FCC would not issue allowance on new models. So again my question is would the current models out there still be able to be sold in the U.S.?

Great thought but the problem with that is that no other country in the world has a problem with any of this. They would have to make products only for the US and separate models for the rest of the world. Not sure it that would be realistic. And as of right now DJI can't get access to American Made Chip sets to meet the BLUE LIST requirements that states all parts have to be manufactured in the US.
I think the biggest caveat is that any Chinese enterprise or product must under Chinese law have the ability to allow access to the Chinese government. Hence the national security issue. I'd say this is more a code issue than one about the physical devices. Same deal as with the Huawei phones. And TikTok etc.

They should not worry about the small drones like the mini 3 and 4. Also the part 107 test is for flying full size aircraft, way too much for a small drone in my opinion. I depend on apps such as AIR AWARE to get flying info. Even the DJI app tells me I am in a class C airspace and to limit my height to 200 feet.

I guess Skydio made the decision that they would get a better return from lobbying rather than putting their efforts and resources into product development. Maybe the government could come up with measures to support US companies in a way that wouldn't involve simply cutting off foreign competition
I thought the NDAA inclusion for DJI was removed a while back before the house even passed NDAA a long time ago and a new specific bill regarding DJI was a stand alone bill that was still alive am I wrong? "A bill named the Countering CCP Drones Act is making its way through Congress, which would effectively ban the use of the company’s drones in the U.S. moving forward".
The Senate Arms Committee originally decided not to include CCCP language into the Senate version of the NDAA however Rick Scott included an amendment proposal to add it in right around July.
