Definitely thinking that Nike is trying to create a new athleisure category of runners: good looking, technically interesting shoes with some heritage that actually can do respectable duty as a performance shoe. A bit like when the first adidas ultraboost came out, it was supposed to be a cushioned runner but its looks (thanks Kanye!) saw it become a fashion must have in the mid 2010s.
This is the next-gen Nike Air Max 97 that's well cushioned and beefy in the real and honest sense. Kind of feels like 30% running and 70% casual/leisure. Combo of ZoomX foam, full length Air Zoom bubble unit and ReactX is very interesting. Great first impression review.
As always a good review Nick, these to me are for non-runners as doesn’t seem to excel in any department or type of run. Nike are thankfully bringing out new ranges which is good and am definitely enjoying the new zoom fly 6.
I forgot the pegasus had a 10mm drop. I've got an old pair of 39s which I keep in the cupboard for winter mixed tarmac/mudbath type runs. That drop explains why they feel weird the first time I wear them after 3 seasons of 5 to 8mm drop shoes. I wouldnt spend £180 on any pegasus tbh, that's speed 4 money.
So unnecessary this shoe. So heavy. Nothing new here. So many other shoes above 40mm for super trainer category and much lighter. Why not nike work on update to streakfly.
It's not a running shoe. Just like an Airmax Scorpion, all of the components may be running or originally developed for running use, but the final product is no running shoe.
Prices for bog-standard shoes and amount of shoe releases have gotten out of hand. Nike Air is a near 50 year old thing and they are still pushing it. I'm not sure what it adds in comparison to modern foams aside from a visual element.
that's very unfortunate, I really hope they potentially make it lighter on final release. maybe shave some from the upper, or even use some recycled zoom x as the bottom midsole rather than react, heck I'll even take the bottom foam they used for the zoom fly 6 over react.
happy for anyone who likes it, but I can't think of anything that demonstrates the extent to which nike running is treading water, techwise, like them going "fuck it, lets make the air zoom cover the entire midsole"
It seems like a concept shoe at this point, that in spite of the unusual tech, doesn't leap ahead of the competition in any aspect of performance. So, meh...
Everyone is saying the same thing though, it's too expensive it's too heavy, it's not a "real" running shoe. It's a bang average shoe with a premium price tag and will be a firm NO from most runners.
So many 310-340g max cushion high stack shoes released in last 3-4 months. Getting out of hand with the weights IMO. Big hell no to all of them. My current heaviest shoe in US10 is 300g and that's as high as I would ever go. My favourite running shoe is my lightest at 244g and it's by far the bounciest and has a still great 35/29mm stack.
The high stack shoes always come with a high price tag. By putting in some extra midsole foam the shoe companies can increase the price with some 30-50 $/£/€ for shoes that are essentially daily trainers.
No doubt you could run stylishly from the cops in them better than Air Max 95s but at that price ... i dont see what other market is. At that price point, you're competing with the best cushioned trainers. That said, Nike have no pricing discipline, so you can probably pick them up on a deal about 2 months from now at a fraction of the price.😂 The Vomero 17 is a better premium Pegasus
This looks more like a casual shoe. I'll will look to get this once the price is abit down and maybe Nike different varients with the upper knit with more material as i would love it for casul wear trainer.
ZERO interest in this shoe. But what I can see from this is the road forward for the Tempo Next% 2. Cut that air pod unit in half or more, strip down the upper and try to get the ref size weight into the low 9oz range. Protect the single air pod better, and keep the nylon plate or perhaps the more flexible style plate they are using in the ZF V6. We want a true Alphafly trainer!
Oh groan at still a 10mm drop. Nike please update your obsession with heel strikers. Not everyone heel strikes. I know you are Nick but come on Nike try and at least make some lower drop shoes.
@@Xpecialist what does "most advanced" even mean? They use peba foam like every other manufacturer these days, only difference is Nike's version of it is softer and barely lasts 100 good kilometers

I find the others good looking too, peg 42 looks sick and athletic

My very first thought was “it just looks heavier” 😂

Lifestyle running shoe- air maxish 95 and 09 vibe. Hope the changes at Nike bring some market leading innovation.
It looks like air max 97
That's what I got too. The only reason I would pick this over Zoom Fly 6 is for fashion's sake, and that's sticking to just Nike
I’ll get a pair for casual wear 😊

I guess the Puma MagMax is a better heavy max cushioning shoes for running.
Over 300g, 10mm drop, and £180 means a no from me!
Your comment just saved me 9:46...good day sir

@@michael-qp9xdMany Streakfly 2 prototype spottings so they should be close
They recreated the Zoom Fly 5 brick but this time with air zoom.
Looks dope as hell!
Is the airpod open in the outsole??? Not a good idea!

Look like a great trophy shoe for Nike runner. I will definitely get one pair!
What on earth is a trophy shoe?😅
@ Well Hoka or Saucony head will never understand, because those running shoes are to weird to wear in a lifestyle fashion way 😆
Still no explanation...
@ who care about u LOL
@jeroen1989 it's like a trophy wife, but it's a shoe. It can't do any of the things a proper shoe can do, it just looks pretty
Reminds me of the Zoom All Outs from 2016 or 2017
Price and weight may be off but it looks super cool
I NEED a pair!
Do Nike make decent mid priced runners anymore? Seems like they are more focused on looks over use case.
Zoom fly 6
No. Nike are absolutely bottom of the market when it comes to mid range products, you're paying mid range prices for entry level spec with Nike
that's very unfortunate, I really hope they potentially make it lighter on final release. maybe shave some from the upper, or even use some recycled zoom x as the bottom midsole rather than react, heck I'll even take the bottom foam they used for the zoom fly 6 over react.

I want one, but not for running
I love everyone in the comments that believes every single shoe that is brought to the market should be made to their specific needs.
Making a shoe without a 10mm drop isn’t specific
@@floppybird Clearly you know better than Nike, Brooks, and ASICS what the market prefers. They should totally hire you.

Looks like an Eshay Runner!
I was looking at these for a lifestyle trainer but they don’t look as good as they did in the initial photos I saw. As a running shoe, no chance.
Nice looking casual shoe. Nike definitely makes the best looking shoes out there, but I’ll never buy a pair to run in.

This trainer is giving me Invincible 3 vibes, just without looking like moon boots. I've got no place for these in my rotation.
Sounds like it's hard to justify the premium in name (and price).
Just a fashion shoe, not for serious running
They'll sell loads of these at JD Sports especially of they do them in black

It’s baffling that people think 300g is heavy lol. These are more lifestyle focused, anyhow.
Heavy + high drop= nope. Lifestyle shoe for chilling
Addendum: the peg plus made the ball of my foot go numb after 5 miles.
This looks more like a casual shoe. I'll will look to get this once the price is abit down and maybe Nike different varients with the upper knit with more material as i would love it for casul wear trainer.
Zoom All Out Low 3, basically…
Remember the Nike Zoom all out?…
Too pretty to use for a run. Lifestyle for me

CRAZY 🤪
Zoom Fly 6 vs. Superblast 2 vídeo?
this is more like of a daily office shoe than a running shoe. 328g?????!!
More of a lifestyle shoe than a running shoe.
Looks like a Pegasus Air Max to me 😅
Another great daily dog walking shoe from Nike. You are too kind in your comments. Brick!
1 thorn and it’s all over 😂
Not too keen on the look
Looks like a premium sneaker, not running shoe
Looks like a fashion shoe but has very narrow toe box which makes it uncomfortable for casual wear. Good job Nike!
Looks like a US $200 shoe
Frankenstein shoe no good
Shame they sticking with the 10mm drop and looks more a fashion shoe but does look good but not with 10mm drop
Oh groan at still a 10mm drop. Nike please update your obsession with heel strikers. Not everyone heel strikes. I know you are Nick but come on Nike try and at least make some lower drop shoes.
Totally agree. I think the Pegasus Plus would be excellent with a 6mm drop and the extra 4mm of cushion in the forefoot.
Gonna be a miss from me. The Pegasus plus was an absolute flop & the way this is looking - might be the same.
To heavy, to much money, Nike are still going backwards!
def not for running in my view.
No thank you. It sounds like the Kinvara pro. Just because the tech exists. It doesn't have to be in one shoe.
This seems like a wholly unnecessary shoe. Far too expensive and the other two Pegasus shoes seem to do everything this one can but cheaper
Nike fell off they need to stop using 10m drop
What’s wrong with a 10mm drop?
I wouldn’t say stop using it entirely but more variety of drops would be a good idea
I like the 10mm drop a lot as a heel striker, but for the sake of everyone who wants a lower drop I think Nike should make some of both.
Nike just isn’t it anymore. They have lost their way with innovation.
It's hard to innovate when you're far ahead. They still have the most advanced racing shoe.
@ can’t say I totally agree. Adidas is far ahead and Nike’s other offerings fall flat.

Metaspeed Sky Paris pips the Alphafly these days. Nike is not ahead any more.
