I spent 4 days on the tutorial since I'm from EU and didn't really speak English well as a kid. This garage was most difficult thing I've ever done as I had to kinda guess and memories what each thing was lol
I played it on the pc at my grandpas windows 98 and Juno web browser!!! I only beat the “tutorial” mission cause I watched my older brother do it. But I’d get stuck on like mission 3 or 4 the one where you need to follow the train that one id always fail but my brother would too 🤣 I still have it and have gotten as far as New York but haven’t beat it yet
A masterpiece for its time. Finished it twice and spent hours and hours just driving about. It was a first of its kind it made us dream of the future capabilities. Never even imagined something like Gta5 online would exist.
I remember looking at this first cut scene, dreaming that one day I would play games with those graphics. Well, We have games now that are waayy more realistic than that cut scene.
@@justsuperstevethe problem is not it. They not making creative inovative stuff with inovative challenging gameplay thrilling story and stuff.somethjng i really wanted was pain receptors
To be fair, the lighting in that cut scene is done really well. To get dynamic lighting like that in real time was definitely some ways off when this came out. Otherwise those graphics have no business looking that good, but with some artistic vision you can make things seem really nice .
I’ll never forget when my best friend and I opened up Driver. We must have spent two days trying to figure out the tutorial. Driver was the first of its kind. Cody was a gaming genius, I left for hockey practice came home and he was sitting on the couch with a shit eating grin. I remember him arms crossed saying “I figured it out”… I knew exactly what he was referring to The tutorial. RIP Brother, miss you everyday. I’d give anything to go back to before the internet was in every household. I miss blockbuster game rentals, walkie talkies, just you, me and a PlayStation magazine. ❤ figuring shit out 😂 Great video, brings back so many memories 😊
I remember playing this all night when I was 16 or something, when I turned off the playstation at about 6am as the sun was coming up, I couldn't get to sleep because I could still hear the cop sirens in my head hahaha
This brings back great memories of one of the first friends I made when moving to a new town. We spent so much time playing games at his house. Sadly he passed away in 2016 and I still think about him every day. Seeing these games on youtube these days brings back these memories and makes me kind of sad that he's not around to see all the new ones coming out.
I had the exact same thing I was 13 and I got so pissed I turned off my ps and was crying haha took me 2 hours to finally pass that stupid garage mission.
I remember that I was like 7 or 8 when I got this game, I was so happy to get it. As soon as I get home from the store I popped in my ps1, saw the initial cut scene and then was completely lost with the tutorial. I must have spent like a good 2 hours trying to figure it out. After like 3 days in a row of trying, I gave up, never touched it again. Still remember the game every now and then…..how much fun it would of been if I could pass the tutorial. Really wish I could look it up in the internet back in the day.
Me and my little brother still talk about this game. Loved throwing the car round corners. The driving felt great back in the day. Haven't played in years.
The car park test is notoriously difficult and options were git gud or quit. It was many years after when I learned that it was a homage to a 1978 movie, The Driver, where the main character had to prove he's up to the job.
Oh yea I have that movie! The “Driver” in that movie played B-Rads dad in “Malibus Most Wanted” Honestly the the 70’s had like the best car/crime movies. The Getaway, The Driver, White Lightning, Gone in 60 Seconds (the original)
I already thought of that, but I think it could look weird at certain edges of the map where there's no playable area past the game's original draw distance so they would just be empty.
I used to play this when I was a teenager all the time this is what real kids played for games in the late 90s and very early 2000s Thank you for uploading this I just Order this game after watching 👀 this. Thanks you for the awesome memories.
Играл в нее где-то в 1999 году, подарили диск и я очень долго не мог начать играть из-за того, что не мог пройти обучение, игра была на английском. Потом в гости приехала старшая сестра, она перевела задания и я смог пройти обучение.
I enjoyed playing this when I was growing up and thanks for the memories it brought back I actually still have it and the first PS. After watching this I think I going to play and beat the game again
Back in begin of 2003 i had this game from my dad for a couple of days. That intro of that parking garage got me obsessed. Like whenever i was in a parking garage it strongly reminded me of this intro.
I got chills in my body. Never knew what this game was called until I ran into a RUclips short so I immediately typed it in and came across this video. The child inside me awakened and everything flashed before my eyes when I saw those shoes and footsteps. Crazy what games did to me as a kid lol
This brings back so many memories...oh my God. I remember there there was an SUV that you could take (police SUV?) in the basement of a garage. Used to just drive around, try to stick to the speed limit etc haha.
i'm so glad that i still remember the invincibility cheat to this day and watched my two older brothers doing the test before the undercover missions when i took up the challenge.
Read an early article about this game talking about concepts like walking about the city, entering buildings, maybe playing some arcade games. I’m not sure exactly what was said but I got so hyped up. When I finally saw it on store shelves I begged my parents to buy it for me. I never managed to get passed the garage tutorial 😢
This game is insanely good for its time. Good childhood memories here. Shame Driv3r was such a flop, I still enjoyed it however GTA3 + shattered the franchise.
This game, this game was so awsome. Hard intro but my best friend and i played this game almost every weekend. Ps1 Was such a great Revolution, no spoild kid (xbos, PC, all consols) cant evan imagin what the ps1 Start Sound realy feels like.
When the tutorial is the hardest mission in the game lol. But its so worth it. I loved the mini game where you have to avoid the cops as long as possible. In San Fran I would go down a hill then immediately brake and reverse and watch the police cars go flying overhead, the ultimate goal being to make it to the bridge. It never gets old, even when you mess it up lol
Dude, I used to do the same thing all the time, and had some awesome replays saved where the cops would land on top of me at the perfect angle to blast them into fecking outer space. Lord I loved this game, that mode was def one of the best too, and the ai cops actually were dang good.
@@tylerevans1700 yes the cops are so aggressive, you can use it to your advantage. You can orchestrate some wild car chases and then watch the replay. Love this game
0:41 at age 5 I do remember seeing this car I didn't know what it was But this is how I reacted 😮😮😮❤❤❤ By the time i encounter one I was like that a 68 mustang Time to get one 🎁
I used to LOVE doing the roof glitch. I would hit a car and disable it in front of the Miami bridge and gain speed, jump off the bridge onto the roof of the car I hit and watch my car fly into the sky and break the game lmao
Bruh! Me and my brother used to do this!!!!! I’m glad I found this comment 💯💯💯 we did it a little differently we would ram a car flip it on its side drive and hit the roof of the car. And that thing launch us straight up in the air🤣🤣
Took me 3 months to beat the tutorial 🤦🏾♂️ and that was by mistake I just got fed up and started driving around the lot then boom passed it lmao one of the happiest days of my life
to this day, when the lift opens on a multilevel carpark and it's quiet and dark... I walk slowly to my car with this exact opening sequence in my head.
The very first driving "simulator" IMO I loved the shit out of this game, even got a wheel just to play it with lol Dated AF but still good even today, great memory's! 👍
Wow now we can get a decent visual on the models of the cars, personally I would have taken the Oldsmobile delta 88 along the back wall next to the Rivera

Oh, man... This masterpiece was one of the first games I used to play on PS1. It brings me lots of good memories... Thank you!

I remember loosing my virginity to my aunt playing this game on my original psone ahh the sweet memories
it wasnt a masterpiece. it was a prototype for whawt was to come
i played this on my computer 😭

I loved this game as a kid. Didn't care much about the missions, just loved outrunning the cops
It was basically what you did cause the game itself was a pain in the ass
Man, I didn't know this game had missions LOL
Lmao I never got passed the tutorial 😂
Traduzindo vc não passou do tutorial no modo história...😅😅
Yea, the little mini games where you could run from the cops in (I think San Francisco) was crazy. No other games like this at the time
A masterpiece for its time. Finished it twice and spent hours and hours just driving about. It was a first of its kind it made us dream of the future capabilities. Never even imagined something like Gta5 online would exist.
For us driver two was the best possible.... just you can down the car is awesome

With half baked games season passes and less gameplay xd

This was a masterpiece for the time. I remember just running from the cops in a open world with damage was such a big deal b4 GTA
and a sunset

My dad thought me how to play this game, later i became better than him. (I am 2010)
Vou joga esse clássico hoje comprei um pley
Me too. Was a masterpiece of a game
Did that with Doom all the time. Played until the early hours, went to bed only to still be fighting those damn cacodemons.

I had the exact same thing I was 13 and I got so pissed I turned off my ps and was crying haha took me 2 hours to finally pass that stupid garage mission.
Yeah, was hard at first, but then Also it taught us how to drive stylishly in games, so I can't really complain with that. ;)

I already thought of that, but I think it could look weird at certain edges of the map where there's no playable area past the game's original draw distance so they would just be empty.
Ive seen this unlimited draw distance before in a dream but it was like purgatory. Very “backrooms esque.” Never ending. Dystopian and eerie.

At that time, I had a really hard time completing this last mission.
I would like to applaud your driving technique.👏
Hardest final mission i ve ever played
I put the cheat codes on to beat it that shit was so hard
Yeah, that’s the real type of requirement one should have for Platinum Trophies on PSN.

About 200+ hours of my life just came flooding back. 🤣 I absolutely loved this game!

I love the soupy handling of the cars, GTA needs to take notes.
GTA with the handling of Driver would have been perfect. You could feel the springs and the weight of the cars.
that car physics were way too catchy. awesome game

same lol
I watched the whole video, it remember me the last time I played this master piece…. Long time ago. Good driving, son.
Ah! Revolutionary! Absolutely loved this game and it was such a huge step from sega, super nintendo, just amazing.
Just purchased this gem for £5 in the case and with the booklet. Ohhh the nostalgia ❤
