- This whole experience was a nightmare, are there any good car people even left these days? So many are just fly-by-night, shade tree shysters or amateurs masquerading as professionals!!
Stay away from Nick Loughead of Nick's Auto Repair or whatever new brand he goes to next, he is dishonest to the core and will try to cash grab from you with empty promises and poor delivery.

I agree. The reason he did this is because he has done it before and got away with it. If he has to face you in court and fear a garnishment or property selloff, it will make him think twice before promising and not delivering.

Also learned the hard to just spend the extra for a reputable shop. It almost never works out when you’re trying to help a small business. Even if you take this loser to court and win, he probably doesn’t have shit to pay you back. Shitty situation all around. Insane.
In the past, I’ve had GREAT success working with small, up and coming businesses. These were hands down some of the best people who were honest and delivered. Like @CMAutoHaus and Marcus Fry Racing and Car Bar etc. thought he’d be in that league but obviously not.
What a frustrating event, i dont get how some people have such low morals and principles. Likely wasn't loved as a child, and grew up a man-child. Appreciate your patience and collectiveness throughout this .

I got scammed similar to your story. This guy attitude is exactly the same as the guy I dealt with. 1.5 yrs, he had my car, mr2 kswap and other things, paid a lot of money upfront and some extra. In the end I got the car back incomplete and damaged. So many excuses, but he was recommended by spyder community. Sucks that happened to you.
Im not happy this happened to you , but am always happy to hear scammers get called out. I don't care about peoples intentions when it comes to my money.

Man I felt infuriated listening to the entire story. You definitely handled it well and had patience where most would’ve lost it. I’d throw the book at this guy in court, but could possibly lead to more wasted time and headache. Glad you got the truck back though.
The low honor and character of the guy is horrible. Society these days suck, too many scammers and predators out there. I'm not sure what his end goal was, to just hold my Humvee indefinitely? Surely he's not dumb enough to think I wouldn't eventually find out how little work he's actually done on it and discover his web of lies...
