"You can make a big fire with small pieces, but you can't make a small fire with big pieces" some of the wisest words I've ever heard....I too split all of mine smaller.
The information you put out is point on and clear every time.. I don't get how there is so many people that just don't listen to what you are saying 😂😂. I know in 4 years now I've learned a hell of a lot from you and I appreciate it!
Nice explanation Chris. You're really fortunate to have wide open storage areas. The sun and wind have maximum effect. Shade probably doubles drying time.
G’morning Chris. Awesome rant. We hold these truths to be self evident. Thank you for the wealth of knowledge. I’m very happy it’s 16° this morning. GoodNightIrene
The internet is overflowing with idiots who love to be the smarter, better, more informed guru in any subject! The reality is the vast majority are keyboard knuckleheads. Ignore the haters and everything you say is logical, practical and a good business model. Thanks for what you do!
Nice video Chris. I agree with everything you preach. Just can’t convince myself to kiss the wood. I have dry ash in the woodshed, old whiskey in the cabinet and a nice fire in my fire pit. Life is good. Have a great Thanksgiving week with those you love and are truly thankful for. GNI
Good Morning Chris Hoping you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends.🦃 And just to let you know I shot a beautiful 10 point Buck in New Hampshire yesterday 214lbs field dressed 🦌
If that guy spent the same time stacking as you did, he would have spent 6,000 hours stacking or three years of his 15 year wood business. Not an easy pill to swallow. 😂
This video here Chris is the best one I have seen you covered all the bases from moisture levels I had people come and get wood and measure moisture levels and it was 5/15 perfect and people pick it up and want grey wood on top would go down pile I would tell them where you started was seasoned been there longer and the cubic foot measurement give more make everybody happy like I said you covered it all like usual I had people from Chicago want to buy the whole lot out but would not have wood for long term customers so had to decline whole semi truck loads but just take care of regular customers did have people that would stop and buy and a couple was from Chicago stacked in trunk of vehicle said not much room at home to put it in and people going either hunting are fishing would get and take with them so they have it like you sold to all kinds of people if people don't understand this video don't what to tell them you covered all bases thanks my friend and catch the next one have a happy Thanksgiving Chris
One guy ordered firewood from me, said he wanted it "this weekend". So naturally I assumed he wanted campfire wood as it was a holiday weekend during the spring/summer. He grumbled how small the wood was split. He wanted wood bigger than what you split, which the load I delivered was. Said I can split to the exact size he wants. Never got back to me.
And the 2024 EMMY for the best episode name for youTube content goes to In The Woodyard "FIREWOOD RANT....SCREAM THERAPY" aired 11/26/2024. Congratulations!! Ray
your niche market is high end residental. people who dont care about the price, they want quality, no exceptions. whole different animal than the guy who produces wood for heat. these people burn for recreation, they want to light it with a match, and have easy fires
The small pieces give off more light and definitely burn hotter!! More enjoyable to watch!! I like having big bon fires and that is just my experience!!
The guy accusing you of selling air is another one of those special kind of guys that can't do basic math. It's either that or they just have no clue that a thrown cord is 180 cu ft, perhaps they have no clue that firewood is actually measured by the cubic foot?
Used to stack all my material too.. thennn came in production lol I don’t stack anymore. I sell by VOLUME 😊👍🏻 processed right into the trailer.. I know exactly where 5 face cord is on my trailer and it saves me sooo much money in handling/machine time. Great video Chris 👍🏻
It must get very old defending the way you do YOUR business. I also started selling by the face cord...it takes just as long to process each face cord!
12:41 Yeah I did feel with my lips once but I almost got a splinter in my lip so I feel with my hands now...and trust me it works fine a few days ago I split a piece of Blue gum open and guess what happened...it was so wet that water spat out of it in my face no joke! I did not see moisture I saw water inside of it!🌊🪵
I was splitting some old Silver maple that had lain on the ground, yesterday. Water was squeezing out around the axe on each swing! It'll be burnable within days. It's seasoned, just wet. Logs have been there 3+ years, cut green. Looks disreputable as hell- all spalted, and funny colored- but it burns great, and smells amazing.

If your firewood goes "clink" instead of "clunk"
You're good to go!
I love your channel.I figured that out on my own a long time ago😅😅😅

Good morning all!
Any stone going down for the winter so you're not driving in chocolate frosting?
