Thanks for this upload. Rare footage of Amarnath batting. Not many of his footage are available. Absolutely thrilled to watch lazy elegance of Jimmy.

      Absolutely!
I watched this video, when i saw Amarnath in the initial picture!
They way he played; West Indies fast bowlers was a treat to watch!

Loved the comeback by Amarnath after getting hit on the helmet. One of best players of the hook shot from India!

Kapil Dev bowled splendidly all the day a rare encouraging comments from Richie about an Indian player, if I remember correct Richie praised rarely one and only Indian player was Kapil Dev😁

Batting by Mohinder Amarnath against two successive series out of india ie against Pak and WI has been the peak of batting skills against arguably the best ever fast bowling brigade.
Scoring nearly 1100 runs against Imran Safaraz ( in Pak without neutral umpires ) and Holding Garner Marshal n Robberts is beyond imagination.

NEIL Foster was a lethal bowler back then ..R.I.P ..champ

I think you might be thinking about Graham Dilley. Neil Foster is still alive.

This is the series when David Gower stepped down as captain after losing the 1st test ...Mike Gatting was made the captain ...and still it did not change the fate of England ..they went on to lose the series to India ..and couod only level the one day series 1-1 ..lost the test series 0-2 to India ..

That was the last test series victory for India for many years until 2006 in the West Indies.

Gavaskar batted as if he wanted to get out from every ball he faced in the first innings because he don't want to play under kapil dev's captaincy

Why they are showing it from the back,? Idiotic, Cannot understand, batting has to be watched from the front,

One of the revolutions if WSC in 1978 was having a camera at both ends. Until then, it was thought too expensive and inconvenient to bother with. It took the BBC in England at least another 10 years to catch on. I remember commentators saying they thought it would confuse the viewers as they wouldn't understand when and over had ended.

@@MrDunkiepI remember reading about Kerry Packer in the 70s saying that he was tired of watching batsmen’s behinds all day and was going to do something about it !

whenever Amarnath gets hit he hooks next ball for a 4 or 6. He did that to WI fast bowlers what was this guy doing bouncing to Jimmy
