This is how I've been mixing my base for 4 years now. I recently ran out of floetrol and tried a bunch of things but it was one ugly disaster after another. Thank you for teaching us some common sense .
Quick tip … something I do is, in order to get the most out of your paints, once you pour all the paint out of the can or bottle, use a small portion of the water you are going to use in your recipe to get more paint out. I mean put some water in your paint bottle and shake it up before pouring it in to your project. I hope that makes sense. I do this a lot and it gives you a little extra paint. You just have to sure you don’t add more water than what your total portion would be for your recipe. 😊
So happy I found you & this video, this recipe is really easy to follow, I will try it in the morning. I’ve liked & subscribed. It is Mother’s Day today (as of 36 minutes) HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to you mums in paint pouring land around the world. 🥰❤️🥰 kind regards from Western Australia
Hi I am a new subscriber and I really appreciate knowing about the dollar store container and strainer particularly. I have the ones that I just got off of Amazon but yours is amazing. Thank you for your help to all of us
Your container that the lid id stuck on, run the closed lid on the container, under the tap, warm water is best but cold will work as well. just keep turning it upside. down under the running water, every now and again try the stuck lid again, it usually loosens quite fast, it softens the Paint under the lid.
Does the amount of floetrol added to the housepaint make a difference? It's because I'm not in the US and while I can buy floetrol, it's 3x the price. I'm thinking half part floetrol and then water to thin the mixture further. Or that won't work at all?
Thanks for that info I bought some hi gloss & being a beginner I don't know if that's good or not. Is your flotrol USA ? I got the Aussie one ( not knowing any different) but I hear the American one is cheaper? So many very important details but I love the incredible effects that others get with this art I'm determined to master it, thanks again Diana
Hi! I have a question for you now.. 🤔 I haven’t mixed my housepaint with Flotrol, only water. The Flotrol is SO expensive here, so I’m wondering if it’s worth the extra cost to start using Flotrol… ? What difference does it make? I do struggle with my base sometimes, but I don’t know if it’s because my painting isn’t level, or my base is to runny, to thick, to much, or what I’m doing wrong! 😭 Yesterday I made three GORGEOUS swipes, and today they all spred out and the composition is totally ruined! 😭 Do you have a tip for me? This doesn’t happen every time, not at all! But to perhaps 1/10 And 1/10 cracks… and 8/10 is perfect! I can’t see what I’m doing different with the success that I’m not doing with the disasters…. (As you can understand I’m very new to this hobby, trying to suck up every piece of information I can from YT, but not much is to be found about the BASE?!) I’ll be SO grateful if you could give me some advice ❣️ Love from Sweden! /Cattis
My combo of house paint and floetrol is thicker than yours, and I didn't strain... is this what is causing a lot of bubbles on surface of my pours, and they get worse, when I use heat gun ? Is this the consistency you use for even straight pours, dirty cup, etc ? Thank you so much!!!
Thanks Christy for the info. I've been saying my paints are to thin, but I must be doing something else wrong. My paint leaves a little mound but disappears quickly. (i'm subscribed+all)
Bonjour, merci pour cette vidéo très explicative. C'est exactement la recette que je cherchais. Par contre, chez nous, le Floétrol est très onéreux (en moyenne 20€ le litre) alors je vais en mettre moins.
@@chrisharrison5974 Hi Chris! Typically house paints come in different finishes like satin, semi-gloss, gloss, and flat. When doing my base for dutch pours or blow dryer pours, I use the flat house paint as opposed to satin or gloss. Hope this helps!
I did about the same with house paint and when I went to use it in a pour, it cracked in the drying process. I know it wasn’t because of heat because I live in Scotland and it’s December so it’s cold most of the time, especially at night when my heating goes off and I never have the heating on in my kitchen where I do my pouring. So I can’t figure out what went wrong? 🤷♀️
@@nataliehelmig920 oh yes, you have to be careful with how much heat you put on paint. It will dry it too quickly and cause cracking. You only need a little to pop bubbles.
Thanks for this video. I've tried straight from the can and I find it too thick. I know a lot has to do with what techniques your doing but happy to finally see that flotrol can be added!! Thank you so much for this quick, informative tutorial!!!🤗🤗❤
Thank you for watching! If it thickens while sitting after I've added flotrol, I'll add a little water as well. I find that with dutch pours or blow dryer pours this base layer works great. For bloom technique, I do a different recipe and do not use floetrol in that one.
Thank you, can you tell me the exact house paint you use? I didn’t see it in the description. Also can I get this in other colors as well for the base?
My question exactly. I’m all set to start painting but I see the base coat being used so freely, so thank You so much for your video. My only other problem regarding this is what I’d use for black? Do I just add acrylic to the White House paint or do I buy black paint?
Ya know when people are trying to get the very last out of another container ,why do they not use one of them silicon spatula ?? Dollar store , anyplace. You can get nearly every drop. And for us that is always important. Why us a silly stick ?
Bonjour Madame pouvez-vous me donner Le nom de la peinture qui est dans la boîte enfer et nous donner la quantité que vous avez mis des deux bouteillesMerci d’avance et j’adore votre travail

I put a marble in my bottles and Floetral.
That’s genius! Thank you for sharing this!
Best to use a silicon spatula when scraping for the last of anything in a can, bottle, etc.

It is said on many sites that house paint will crack over time when used on canvas.
Thank you! I’ve been looking everywhere for this! 😀
Thank you 😊
Where did you get that white plastic tray with the raised ridges on it? I can't find it in your supply list.
Thanks for tips!

The problem is you have to be careful how much water you use because it changes the integrity of the paint.
Thank you so much. Can you recommend a spinner?

Hi, the house paint that you are using is it a gloss paint or a emulsion paint, sorry if this is a dumb question,,I'm knew to this. Thanks
I used flat paint for this mixture. This is how I mix my base layer paints for dutch pours or pours using a blow dryer
Christy Velasquez Art What do you mean by flat paint ? Xx

@@onyxnyx4221 yes that’s obvious. But SHAKESUMTIN didn’t get her answer about other colors. Nor did I.
Hi friends this is a good pouring medium but over the years the house paint gets some fine cracks
Do you add a few drops of water before pouring?
I only add water if the paint has thickened up but do not typically add water to my base
Can I use semi-gloss house paint
I haven't tried semi-gloss but I would say give it a try. Experimenting is part of the fun
