  • Sorry it took so long to post this. Here's everything you need to get you started. Written musical notes, instructional video, plus more. I used GarageBand software on my Mac and M-Audio Keystation 88es. enjoy...

    @TheKingORock not to mention, the entire control of the keystation is done by ultra low bit MIDI, not firewire, usb or any other nonsense. The only other protocol that is used in audio is ethernet (which gives 1024 values instead of 128), which no synths at all use, and MIDI will continue to be supported for years.
    It might have a USB cable, but it's sending MIDI information!

    I want to personally thank you for teaching this beacause my friend plays the guitar and he did it on that, and to tell the truth ive never really under stand how to operate any instrument. i have been messing with the keyboard but i couldnt play veary well, i didnt even know what each key letter was at.
    i still dont know where the key letters are at but i can play this and makes me look like i know what im doing, lol, i just need to get faster and then i will be good. THX

    if all the other sounds from your computer are fine, then for sure you need to adjust the master volume to make garageband louder. this can be tricky because the master volume slider won't appear unless you "expand" the garageband window and make it the size of your whole computer screen. master volume will appear at the bottom, between the blue lcd section and the button with a blue circle and a letter "i" in the middle (the track info button). or you can click "help" and enter "master volume"

    ha! you'd never guess, but it's actually a manicure table from a nail salon. my girlfriend's a tattoo artist and her boss traded some tattoos for the table. he didn't like it and gave it to me. it fits perfectly with the setup i've got. i don't know how much it costs, but if you google "manicure table" under images, you'll find the exact one (color and all) on there. there's actually some pretty cool ones...

  • @yuckysword
    @yuckysword  14 лет назад

    @kidnflorida they claim they did, if you look into it on wiki. the guitar track is credited to some guy not originally in daft punk, if i'm not mistaken. but it could have been easily done "digitally" with some sort of keyboard like i did... way easier!

    keep in mind that there's a difference between a controller and a keyboard. the pro 88 is still JUST a controller! so that means that it doesn't actually have it's own sounds pre-installed. your original question was about finding a KEYBOARD that makes it's own sounds independent from having to run it through a computer program. the one i have only cost me $200 (cheaper on ebay now). the pro is going for about $400 right now. so you're paying double for a few extra buttons.

  • @yuckysword
    @yuckysword  16 лет назад +1

    i've had it for about 4-years now and it still works flawlessly. of course, i take pretty good care of it. i don't have a keyboard cover for it, but i don't let it get too dirty. there's nothing out there on the market better than this model for the price. i wish the keys were fully weighted. but then again, for this price, you're lucky to get semi-weighted keys. definitely worth it.

    all i do is plug in my keyboard/controller into the usb port and open up garageband. there are a couple of "virtual" guitars in the program plus you have the option to mess with certain parameters. i adjusted some of them until i got the sound i needed. i don't even know what a VST is, but a couple of people have asked me if i could send them a VST file or whatever. i don't know too much about that stuff, if i did i would gladly cough it up. as far as i know, it's part of garageband and it works

  • @DaKrazedKyubizt
    @DaKrazedKyubizt 16 лет назад

    no, i think he was referring to 4:56 onwards. many of those notes are incorrect. that part is supposed to be very different from the guitar solo as i recall, and i just listened to it about an hour ago.

    there is an upside, though. my OZONIC did come with a REASON demo disk. i plugged the ozonic in and started up the program and it DID work with all the extra buttons and knobs. it's actually pretty neat to use. the problem is getting it to work. it's a pain in the ass to get my Mac to "recognize" the ozonic every time i boot up Reason. and when you do finally get it running, it's only a demo. so you have to fork out the cash to buy the full program to take advantage of all the features.

  • @yuckysword
    @yuckysword  15 лет назад

    but then again, if you have A LOT of money to invest i would recommend looking into the KORG and ROLAND keyboards. they come with sounds banks installed. i originally wanted a KORG TRITON 88 a few years back which cost around $3000. it made more sense to buy a Mac and $200 KEYSTATION instead. i bet those two companies have added firewire/usb ports to be able to connect to the GarageBand program and use the keyboard as a controller that way. keep in mind that 88-keys = more expensive too!

  • @yuckysword
    @yuckysword  14 лет назад

    @realjuvelive you need a program with sounds, of course! in my case i use "GarageBand" which is a free program that comes with every Mac when you buy one...

    yes. kentucky is right... i uploaded the songs from Daft Punk into garage band and pretty much just "cut" out the voice parts and arranged them into the song where they fit. that's why they show up in orange on the screen.

    It's strange, and quite amazing how if you just listen to the low notes of the melody, you just hear it as a seperate:
    F#, F#, F#, F#
    G#, G#, G#, G#
    B, B, B, B
    A, A, A, A
    Though sometimes you hear them as one melody and you don't notice it that much. I'm not sure if that's a good explanation.....

    you've got it backwards. it's the program that recognizes the controller. and with this model, it's just plug in and play. no problem. actually, now that i remember... you DO have to install the drivers for the keyboard first (like you would if you buy a printer or any kind of hardware to run with your computer). but after that it's smooth sailing.

    oh man, this is the easiest part. first you find your song file. in my case it was from iTunes. i just pointed to the song and dragged it into GarageBand. the program does the rest. after it's converted into GarageBand you can cut, edit, loop, or do whatever you want with it. i imported the entire songs with the voice samples i wanted to use and "cut" the words i needed and erased the rest.

  • @yuckysword
    @yuckysword  15 лет назад

    wow, that's a really good question. i haven't really been keeping up with the technology since i got all my equipment a few years back. i know for a fact that you can accomplish what you want with the controller i have. they make midi sound boxes that you can connect your midi controller to through midi cables. this will give your controller it's own sounds independent from having to run it through a software program. the key is making sure your keyboard has midi AND firewire/usb ports.

    oh, ok. i gotcha. then yeah, it's definitely wrong at that point. but i got impatient trying to figure that part out. i'm not sure, but there's either two different parts playing at the same time here or there's some sort of delay effect being used that makes it sound like two different parts. either way, i use notes that fit the song pretty good anyway.

  • @ClickForOutkast

    Sounds more like the Alive 2007 remix since the guitar solo didn't kick in at the very end of Aerodynamic in Discovery ;)

  • @yuckysword
    @yuckysword  15 лет назад

    i also have an M-AUDIO OZONIC. it comes with the extra buttons and "assignable controls" that the pro comes with. it cost me $500. i thought it was a good investment because of the complete control of sound manipulation capabilites that it provides. the problem is that the GarageBand program i use DOESN'T recognize these controls! i don't know if Apple has updated it's software to recognize these controls recently, so it's been sitting in my closet collecting dust instead.

  • @yuckysword
    @yuckysword  16 лет назад

    all you need is the USB cable (included). no power cables. no midi cables (those are annoying). you can also buy a firewire cable and use it that way if you want.

  • @sweetsweepbeat
    @sweetsweepbeat 15 лет назад

    its good but theres only a small twist in that riff that you might have missed out while finding by ear. Listen carefully to the third part of the riff.(the G B E B part) what daft punk actually do there is that the first G, out of the 4times, is actually an octave lower than what you do. SO it does a kind of feel that it goes up.
    They do the same thing when they bring the whole riff an octave higher too. Thats the only thing i can see. for the rest you did it very proffessionnal i like it :)

  • @Joeychitown

    right now i run the KEYSTATION to my Mac using a firewire cable. if i wanted to play it by itself i would have to connect to a midi box using midi cables and of course you would have to also run cables to some sort of speaker source. i imagine that it would get quite complicated and messy with all those wires. i wouldn't be surprised if technology has eliminated the necessity for midi cables, though. do a little research and i bet they make midi boxes that run on usb/firewire now.
