Hey! Two things - 1. I know some may see this laptop as being super expensive but considering what is has and the form factor in which it does it - i'ts awesome and cheaper than competitors. 2. The battery! So, Dell stil currently list the new XPS 15 with a 84Whr battery but this year's model has a 97Whr! I had no means to measure this so relied on info Dell provided. Damn you Dell! :)
This is actually one of those laptops that made me think to switch to Windows after 5 years of using MacBook. I may have missed it, but can you tell me what is the approx. battery life for the basic stuff (web browsing) etc. Thanks Ash!
This channel deserves 10 mil subs meanwhile Unbox therapy has 7.3 mil subs and all he does is fuckin scream and rant and give biased reviews for which he is paid like shit SMH ! I mean Lew is no match for the creativity and talent of Ash. More power to you brother !! p.s. I watch your vids in 2160p even when my laptop starts a bon fire after smoking the GPU :D
Usman Hafeez i never saw this guy before but when i saw the thumbnail i said nah why not, When the video ended i was like HOLY SHIT why this guy don't have million subscribers!
Neil Mutia it's your money you do what you want. I think apple is highly overpriced and running generations behind what is out but I feel like when it comes to customer apple wins.
Dude your videos are so amazing! I'm not one to comment or like videos, but man, I got to tell you, your style is brilliant. You are way more creative than any other tech reviewer, and it really shows. You deserve way more subscribers than you have. I like how you incorporate cinematography into your work; It turns out way better! Thanks again man, you have inspired me to get into this stuff. Also, could you do some tutorials? I'd love to develop the style that you have.
I know it's been said already, but I really can't get over the cinematography here. It felt like I was watching film noir. The dark ambiance, the lighting, all of it felt like the most chill, relaxed review on youtube. Great stuff man.
I just can't believe what I just watched!!! Stunning cinematography!!! I had to repeat it several times because I kept being distracted thinking how certain shots were taken...
The quality of your video editing and production is insane. I happened to stumble across this video, and about 30 seconds in, knew I had to hit the subscribe button
appriciate the quality of this video, I hope more videos on youtube will be in this quality since we're moving into 2017 a generation where media is everywhere!
I just clicked on this video without knowing your channel at all and I thought I am looking at a multi-million subscriber RUclipsr's video, but no just 77k right now. Your editing, capturing of footage and the ability to deliver information through it is incredible. It easily outperforms LinusTechTips' and HardwareCanucks' editing by far and I think they are already considered good. Keep it up, awesome!
Macbooks are excellent, but they're particularly pricey for what you get. The Dell XPS 15 is equivalent to, if not better than a Macbook at a cost that makes sense for what your getting.
I think it comes down to what you plan on doing with the unit. Photo editing or video editing, gaming or just word processing. What software and tools do you prefer? That all should come to mind when buying a unit because certain things aren't supported on certain units.
+Ashish Patel Yep. I had my eye on the workstation line for ages but ultimately the price difference wasn't worth it especially when it came to the GPU. :)
Man, I'm telling you, this is one of the best reviews I ever saw... The cinematography, the compreensiva language and damn that's crisp! You EARN millions of subscribers... Been a loyal subscriber for soooooo long and will continue that way :)
Best laptop I've ever had. The 4K screen is absolutely gorgeous. 4K editing is a breeze with this thing. And it's just about the only one currently on the market that can do so. Editing 4K content on a screen with a lower resolution is a non-starter for me, and 16gb of RAM aren't sufficient for projects longer than a couple of minutes. So that excludes the two direct competitors (Razer Blade and MBP15), in my humble view. Sure, the Blade has a slightly stronger GPU, but if you're a gamer, you can actually buy a laptop with a gtx 1080 for the same price... Besides, gaming on a 14" screen isn't a really great experience IMHO. Anyhow, I've tested all my triple-A games on my new XPS15 and the all play fine with max settings at 1080p. The most demanding titles still get me 55-60 fps, which is more than enough to enjoy your games. But, once again, if gaming is your main focus, the XPS15 isn't your best choice. For a videographer, indie filmmaker or photographer, there's nothing better than this laptop, as of February 2017.
Paolo. Thanks for the comments, I was thinking of changing my Macbook 2016. How have you found Premiere pro with a 4k screen on the XPS? Have you had any scaling issues with the timeline not responding properly?
castleinthesky I've been using Premiere on W10 and a 4K screen with my desktop workstation for a year: no issues with scaling. Adobe fixed it with last year's update. I've used it on my new XPS15 9560 for a week or so and didn't find any problems either. Same thing with Photoshop and AE.
Thanks for that. I was testing out premiere on a 4k(ish) Yoga laptop. I found that I had to have scaling at 100 (which made the text tiny). If I didnt, then I could not scroll the timeline properly. I could only zoom in/out or scroll up/down in the top corners of the timeline. You havent had these issues at all?
I think the -ish was the problem on that Yoga... :) Adobe CC is designed for 1920x1080, 2000-somethingx1444 and 4K. Anything in between is not standard and you may run into issues.
Oh really. Hmmm. Well maybe I might give the Dell a go. Have you used a Macbook before? How does it compare? Also are you missing not having prores? Thank you!
If I'm not mistaken, the 4K version comes calibrated from the factory; the sound software appeared to be MaxxAudio... Both should be on the Dell support page
Came here for the review since I'm considering purchasing this laptop but I HAD to subscribe because of how different/amazing ur editing is vs other reviewers. Love the dark theme it's just so pleasing to watch after watching every other tech channel with bright colors. Great work man, I don't even bother with leaving comments but I felt wrong closing this video without leaving a comment letting you know how great your work is haha
Hello Ash, I just want to say that your Cinematography is one of a kind. It seems like a high budget movie. Shows how much effort and time you put into your videos. Made me purchase it the laptop, hence me typing this comment on the Dell XPS 15 9560.
Your cinematography is the best I have ever seen in tech reviews! Also, the laptop look great, especially when compared price wise to the Razor Blade. Keep up the excellent work!
The shots and cinematography in this video is stunning, I personally have the 2016 xps 15 with maxed out specs but no 4K screen. Its great and I love having the longer battery life. Keep up the fucking awesome reviews bro!
This review... where do I even begin. The shots. The lighting. The cinematography. The composition. The colour palette. Everything just... fits together so perfectly. The tone and atmosphere is immediately apparent from the very first frame: Lush and inviting. I can't get enough of it. This video is why I subscribed to your channel. I've gone through your entire RUclips catalog, and I'm upset at myself for not finding out about your channel sooner. Keep it up, man. I'm eagerly awaiting more. P.S: Only 66,000 subs what the hell?!
I've been researching the Blade quite a bit lately! Really interested in replacing my desktops since I'm never home. Glad to see I'm not alone. Great video, as usual, bud!!!
I didn't know who this guy was and I started watching this video and within 30 seconds, I clicked the subscribe button. The amount of effort that went in this video is just insane.
legit review. i preordered mine on amazon on january and it still hasnt shipped. decked out model except only 16 instead of 32 and no fingerprint. cant wait to get it
You deserve a lot more support and love than what you're getting! Mind blowing cinematography and editing! And this beast of a laptop looks super dope in black! Kudos! ❤
Love your aesthetic. Its a breathe of fresh air compared to the white ikea table tops and LED backlit reviews(which are good but feels like I'm watching the same video over and over again). Keep it up man!
Wow!! I just spent the entire week (had the week off work) looking for a new laptop. I think I watched about 50 youtube videos and read 50 webpages and compared every laptop available new and old. I did not want to give up the number key pad or dvd drive or webcam positioning but I just wasn't able to find those things in a machine with everything else that I need (non plastic/eco friendly, light/portable, long battery, 15 inch screen, able to run 50 internet tabs/youtube, amateur video editing and writing softwares, webpage and photo editing all without crashing and deleting shit all the damn time! So once I let go of those things, upped my budget and decided I was ok with getting external webcam and dvd drive - I landed on the mid range xps 15. Then after a million videos of the xps, I found this one! and to finally get to the point of all of this - I just want to say that your video is BY FAR the best review video of the xps15 I have seen ( And I think I have watched ALL of them). The music, the lighting, your voice, the pace, the real time using of the computer- I just love everything about this vid! I can't believe how many people do reviews of laptops and don't even show them USING the laptop at all! Just mind boggling.
holy s***, Ash! Every time, literally every time I watch your videos I know it's worth the wait! You have a wonderul taste in sound tracks, color grading, editing, every video is a pleasure to look at! regards, a fan from Italy
Just Love your work man i still cant digest the fact that not many people know about your channel none the less amazing job man , i will always carry on supporting you, stellar cinematography and camera angles as always.
How does this guy not have more viewers? I ordered an xps 15 as well so naturally I came here. For me I think the editing is a bit dark but still excellent.
How do you only have 60,00 subs? I think this is a primo quality video and you will definitely be an exponentially famous RUclipsr if you keep doing what you're doing. Great job!
His cinematic review are better than The Verge. Also his words is far more comprehensive. He is of course deserves a million subs. Thankyou for making such a great video Ash!
Your cinematography is top notch! Incredible! Excellent laptop as well. I got the xps 13 to be just a little bit more portable. It handles Lightroom like a charm. Love it
Its been a while since i have seen this much effort put on a RUclips video, for a moment it made me think like if it was one of those animated videos made by company itself, great work! hats off remember your z3+ review
I really like the way you compose shots in your reviews while showing off the products, seemingly in regular, day to day environments, but one can see that the surroundings have been crafted carefully. also, is that satisfying click in the video the actual sound that touchpad makes?
I thought the bigger battery model had 97whr battery. Anyways, it's always a pleasant surprise to come across a RUclipsr with superb quality videos and not many subscribers (yet).
I'm super excited! I just placed my order with Dell for this laptop (9560) /w i7 7700hq, 32gb ram, 1TB SSD, 97whr, and a fingerprint scanner! I can't wait to inbox this beast and unleash it on the world! I will do an unboxing vid also!! Good job on this video it helped me figure out what to get!

Hey! Nice to hear from you Linus. Easily, for normally things, you can get 6/7 hours on about mid brightness :)
Ash Tailor thanks man!
Ash Tailor Great video as usual, but it let me wondering what do you use for display calibration
The most underrated video maker on RUclips.
Abdul Rab Quadri when someone makes a dancing plant look classy af you know they're good

Denzel Garcia go for this one ;) Much better
Macbooks are excellent, but they're particularly pricey for what you get. The Dell XPS 15 is equivalent to, if not better than a Macbook at a cost that makes sense for what your getting.
Pick a macbook for a better decoration in your photos
I think it comes down to what you plan on doing with the unit. Photo editing or video editing, gaming or just word processing. What software and tools do you prefer? That all should come to mind when buying a unit because certain things aren't supported on certain units.
Me too, Ash Tailor isn't really a bad pick
I just found your channel and was struck by the thought gone into the aesthetics creating incredibly beautiful videos. Nice job and cool piercing.
Once again, awesome.

Ash really awesome review
This is by the best review I've seen for a laptop. Came for the review, stayed for the cinematography! Keep it up, you gained a sub.

First time watching a video by this youtuber and I gotta admit, the cinematography is top notch
How could people dislike? smh
Rishabh Patel it's because they are jealous
Its because he is a gay...
+the witcher No. Nothing wrong in being a gay.
ᎿᏂᏋ ᏊᎲᎿᏣᏂᏋᖇ He ain't gay.
Christopher Fernandes There is something wrong with being gay. But, I'll mind my business.
There are tech youtubers who create videos, you create an experience! Love it!
What software did you use to tweak the sounds and to calibrate the display?
Anyone knows the software?
If I'm not mistaken, the 4K version comes calibrated from the factory; the sound software appeared to be MaxxAudio... Both should be on the Dell support page
+Rafael Oliveira Indeed. It all comes with. Factory calibration is poor, haha.
For some unknown reasons for me, you are one of the most underrated tech youtubers. You reviews, especially cinematography is incredible #respect
Man you need more subscribers. Your videos are dope. :)
People please stop scrolling and follow this channel.
They way you make videos is really enjoyable. The colours, just... they got me speechless.
Amazing work once again.
Man, for $2000 they should have added a GTX 1060
Jerr Bear go for da Razer blade
Jerr Bear this is not a gaming laptop
Jerr Bear You can get the 1060 won't fit inside and you can get the 1050 in the 1100 model
Well buy a used 1070 and get a dock...
I love your video style, it's so unique. I've never seen anything quite like it. Keep up the good work.
Dude the overall experience that you provide, that's the best on RUclips. Period.
I watched this on my XPS 15 4K resolution. it did blow me away. I played your video several times just to enjoy the 4K. thums up!
damn dude, I never comment on videos but I was completely captivated in how you delivered that. Genius story telling skills my guy, keep it up
The shots and cinematography in this video is stunning, I personally have the 2016 xps 15 with maxed out specs but no 4K screen. Its great and I love having the longer battery life. Keep up the fucking awesome reviews bro!
That cinematography ! Woah Quality work!
well done, easily one of the most satisfying laptop review i've seen artistically and you also know your shit.
This review... where do I even begin.
The shots. The lighting. The cinematography. The composition. The colour palette. Everything just... fits together so perfectly. The tone and atmosphere is immediately apparent from the very first frame: Lush and inviting. I can't get enough of it.

I like it when one doesn't beg for likes/subs at the end of the video.
Awesome cinematography and review. Subscribed!
Holy guacamole! The cinematography on this one. If you ever had a movie I won't pirate it. Your visuals is just that good. :D
I have been watching a lot of videos about this machine but after looking at this video I was sold . Thanks Ash you hit this out off the park.
+David Smith No worries David, super glad you liked it. I use premiere Pro by the way :)
I love my XPS 15 so much! this 4K screen is so beautiful, every single photo and video is better in this laptop.
This is the best cinematography I've ever seen in a review. Just wow.

Love it
Dude, the production value of this is insane, huge sub!
Wow dude the cinematography is amazing well done!
Its been a while since i have seen this much effort put on a RUclips video, for a moment it made me think like if it was one of those animated videos made by company itself, great work! hats off remember your z3+ review

Your cinematography is on point my dude!! Earned yourself a new subscriber and you've convinced me to get a Dell rather than MacBook Pro
Ash, these videos are so amazing, the cinematic sequences are incredible. keep it up man, you deserve more.
really liked the way you color-correced the whole video, looks very professional !
I really like the way you compose shots in your reviews while showing off the products, seemingly in regular, day to day environments, but one can see that the surroundings have been crafted carefully.
also, is that satisfying click in the video the actual sound that touchpad makes?
You're a true inspiration Ash. Just absolutely amazing work every time.
I've watched so many reviews on the XPS15 already but I only came here because of your cinematography.
What an unique style to make videos, dark theme with clean videos, actors?. Great job! Keep it up!
I thought the bigger battery model had 97whr battery. Anyways, it's always a pleasant surprise to come across a RUclipsr with superb quality videos and not many subscribers (yet).
+Mason K yeah...Dell screwed me over on that one. Their specs on the UK side are incorrect 😑😑😑😑 thank you tho. It truly does mean a lot 🙌😁
