It sucks because I love the old school way of obtaining hardware and software as well. I went to the store to buy the ps5 at launch and was in line. Alas, when they were giving out stubs to get the ps5, I was one of the last people on line to get the ps5 so it was the digital only option for us. The person in front of me got the last physical ps5. It sucked balls man
@@theoutlawking9123 maybe you have a ton of space to put your discs and cases but most ppl don't own a house or live in condos/appartments. Digital is a life saver when you're short on space.
This is exactly why I bought the disc version. Going digital locks you into Sony’s marketplace. No buy two get one free deals from retail outlets, etc. Just not smart if you want deals or want to trade in games when they become free on PlayStation plus.
Always intended to go with the disc PS5 over the digital PS5. So when the opportunity arose, that’s exactly what I did. Don’t regret getting the disc console at all. It’s nice to have a choice between buying the disc or downloading the digital copy of a game.
I’m a collector, so I love having physical copies of games. Disc version was always my first option. I didn’t get mine until January of this year (really says a lot about the shortages) but it was worth it.
Got mine around the same time. But it almost feels like it's not worth owning a PS5 yet since it's just an upgraded PS4 pro. But I do like it alot and see the potential.
I Got My New Non Digital PS5 In The 2nd Week Of December At A Local Gamestop Store. It Sucks So Many People Can't Find One. Im Glad I Was Able Help To 16 People To Find Theirs PS5 Before Christmas Last Year From Various Stores Around Chicago.
Other than this point Digital is always better only problem is Sony stopping sales of digital codes at stores & online. They don’t even have gift digitally option. They were having this in the PS3 era.
It's kind of an obvious issue. That's why the digital is substantially less priced. He should trade it in and count his losses when he's able to obtain a disc version
Substantially? There's not a big difference between 400 or $500 a substantial discount would be like half price. The diskless version is simply a discount version where are Sony and the developers can make their money back by not having to provide a physical product for the software. Thereby forcing the consumer to buy everything digitally. It's a Hustle by sunny and the Developers. That's why we are going to digital way and getting into nft territory. They want nothing more than to be able to sell you the software over the internet rather than having to provide you they very costly physical copy. No collecting no trading no letting your loved ones borrow it. You own literally nothing. At least buying physical you get to stack some game boxes up and feel good that you actually got something for you money
@@robk5437 dude digital consoles have been a thing since last generation, it’s an option. Also for someone like me I think the PS5 disc edition looks HIDEOUS, I love the look of the digital edition. I like that Sony gave me an option, why are we demonizing them for it? You’re not forced to buy it.
Back when digital started being pushed, it was supposed to lower the price of the games for the consumer due to saving $$ on materials and shipping costs. It never happened, they came out at the same price point of physical copies and continue to do so today. Why should you pay full price for something you dont even own, when you can actually own it. Sony already tried to hose us psp/vita owners by wanting to shut their store down, until the gigantic uproar from the community swayed them to eventually not to do it. Thats why ive always been afraid of going all digital.
I get your point, saving some bucks to buy other stuff is better but digitally you have to buy games at full price, I have digital and now I’m seeing a huge difference, I friend of mine bought ratchet and clank for 20 bucks vs 70 which is the full price
Why not just buy the disc version you can still buy your games digital and you can also just buy your games physical copy just like ps3 and ps4 If your friend has physical copy of that game you can borrow it from him and play it The thing about digital is that if this was the only option sony made then it would be something else but as long you can get one with disc and digital the freedom to buy games digital or physical copy or even borrow games from friends is much better than digital + you can also watch movies or listen to music if you have them in disc too
Bought a digital version and I'm happy with my choice. It's entirely understandable why the disc version would be advocated for, especially if you're coming from the standpoint as a collector of what we can all touch physically. Me personally, I find that I like the easy accessibility to all of my games at the click of a button without having to swap out discs. I actually discovered that about myself while I was still on my PS4. Yet, we're in this age where every bit of entertainment media is going digital as it is and these game consoles are showing to be next in line for that. Not worried about trade-ins of what I may not really play much of anymore. I enjoy the sight of my personal collection, as I'm able to find great deals in the PSN store with purchases I look to make. Besides, it's been rumored that digital trade-ins may become a possibility in the near future. If or when it happens, that'll be a real game changer. No complaints, though. Just happy to have a PS5
Im thinking to get the digital too, first because im not a game collector, im picky with ganes since quite a few years, and been buying digital for the last 2 years. I have no physical games. I also havent bought any blu-ray movies, i use streaming services when i want. Yes it can be expensive, but we can stop membership when we want. I do not like to collect things like movies anymore. I just changed as a person, and as im getting older, i just preffer to have less things. Having said all that; i still wonder if i should buy the disc one to have access to deals that might be better over time, and to be able to trade. Im planning to buy the PS5 soon and need to decide.
At the beginning I was considering getting a digital edition, but then I gave it a second thought and I realized that I needed a bluray drive and also that I could get second handed games and a lot of sales
I would never buy a digital only console because I'm a physical games collector, even though today we are only purchasing a license on a disk! The advantages are obvious, physical media drop in price significantly, second hand market, collector's editions which I often buy, not having to wait to download a game e.t.c. I got a Disk PS5 last December, one year after release, when the console/UI were more ironed out. It's always better to have patience.
I just got a ps5 digital not cause I wanted but because that’s the one they had and I mean I have physical games but I have way digital I don’t see the issue tbh
I am very happy with my disc version. I buy newly released preowned cd for let's say 50$, then i play it and sell it for 42$ after a month. That means I only paid 7$ to play that AAA game. I have been doing that since last few months. I am very happy with that.
Yea today on the PS Store, Ratchet and Clank is £79……its in CEX for £22 on disc! ………this is exactly why i dont like Sony buying out other developers because they always keep their games super high in price online! Glad i bought a disc version!
You're talking about the difference between a place with infinite storage, and a place that's literally putting something on clearance to make way for products on shelf. The store already paid the "£79" and are just writing it off. As a consumer you win, but the studio and publisher already made their money getting it on shelf.
@@theklr i think your missing the point, the demand has fallen for the product. This was pretty much a day 1 release and its full price. Even Tesco (the UKs biggest supermarket chain) have discontinued it because there is no demand. Surely for Sony to drop the price and sell 50 a month at £35 is better then selling 1 at £79 and Sony seem to do this with all their games whilst the other developers drop them as demand falls.
@@philwhatever3903 Nope not missing at all. Two different markets with different needs; tangible and intangible. Tesco has to move the product to replace it with the incoming. Sony can linger cause there's nothing replacing it. Same reason why Netflix is raising prices. You can only subsidize costs for so long. Again, no loss for Sony, and a win for the consumer.
@@theklr i guess i see what your saying,…..artificially hold the demand up as a digital product, ……there obviously doing that for a reason. Maybe to make their new PS+ options seem more valuable. As its normally people that cant afford to buy full price games that wait until they are lower,.. a subscription service will seem like it allows them these more expensive games at an affordable price!
Here in Sweden Digital Ps5 Exclusives cost 85$ and other games 74$. Physical games cost around 50-60$. And i sell games after i’m done with them, sometimes after i get platina trophy. For exemple i bought Horizon 2 new physical copy for 50$ day 1, got platina trophy after 1 month and sold it for 40$. Last of us 2 same story, Ghost of tsushima 60$, sold for 49 after platina. Returnal, Demon souls, Sack boy, Ratchet and clank rift apart, Guardians of the galaxy, Miles morales. I got platina trophy on all of those games and i think i played all those games day 1 on their release days under 100$. 1 game of those games in Ps Store is almost 100$. I play tons of new games every year for like 10-15$ each game. I have done this trick since Ps3. Why pay more when you can get something for way cheaper, i don’t care about collecting games and usually all games sooner or later comes to Ps plus or Ps now if you want too replay a game or after a while you probably can find that game under 10$. If i wait some few weeks or months i can play games for free. I bought used copy of Deathloop for 19$, sold for 25$. Ghostwire tokyo bought for 30$ last week, will sell it probably for same price after i’m done. This is just some examples, i can name tons more. And all those games even 2 years old games like Last of us 2 and ghost of tsushima is still 74$ in Ps store, i can find new physical copys for 10-20$ with free shipping to your home. Almost all shop nowadays are free shipping and you get your game in time for release. For example i got Horizon 2 two days earlier then release day, same with Guardians of the galaxy. If i want used games i can find tons of places like fb market place, tradera, blocket etc. It’s like Swedens version of ebay etc.
If a PS6 was digital only, I would have a lot of reservations about getting it.. unless if they added a way to transfer your disc license over without having a drive. I don’t know how they could accomplish this.
I bought a digital only ps5 and love it. I can't stand having disc's that are nothing more than authentication keys. The sales in psn store are great so no issue here.
Same here Bro! Even though on some occasions you can get the disc version cheaper! But the PS store sales are hard to beat most of the time. I haven’t bought a physical copy of a PS game since 2017.
Yeah, there really is no benefit to physical anymore apart from the ability to buy and sell cheaper used copies. It's good for those who like to actually own something physical, but you're right. You're not really protected from the risks and dangers of digital gaming anymore through physical ownership. Personally, I take advantage of the PSN sales and get most of my games for a fraction of the cost by the time I get around to wanting to play them, and then I find cheap used physical copies of the games I really love for a physical collection that I can keep and let people borrow.
I got the disc version and I love it. I have some games on disc and tbh, I love getting games physically so I can own it. I’ve started to become more appreciative of getting the physical discs after I got this version.
I own the digital version and I'm 100% happy with it. I haven't purchased physical copy of a game on any platform in over 5 years. I don't have to worry about damaged disc, storing a bunch of physical games, and I don't care about saving a few dollars on already incontestably priced games nor would I waste my time reselling used titles.
There are 3,454 cheap used ps4 cd games that end up in the used bargain bins sooner or later. The Blu-Ray drive is also a 4k movie player. I bought a used CD of Horizon Forbidden West for $30 from a used bargain bin that game is $80 at sony online store.
I have physical and that is exactly how I wanted it. Lately I have been buying a ton of physical games. When I see a game on sale at the PlayStation store I always check physical to see how close the price is before I purchase. The main downside to physical to me is downloading a game while you want to play another physical game. With digital, I can keep playing a game while the physical downloads. So I try to download games while not playing but sometimes you cant avoid. Small problem to have. I have a digital only xbox and I feel like I am missing out a lot. Also the value seems to lessen with digital media
I am digital only and I don't regret it not one bit. I went digital when I bought my PS4 pro and for me its just the convience. I don't really care but it's nice just to have a clean set up in my living room. For any disk based games (I still have my PS3 and PS4 pro).
Why would you even CONSIDER a Digital Edition. Yes it's cheaper, but you can't play DVD's, Blu-Ray's, or Games on Disc. Not to mention: Disc Versions are usually much cheaper AND they lose cost after like a month, meanwhile you are stuck with 70$ for like half a Year, maybe even more.

It's all about giving yourself options. It's really a no-brainer if only for ease of mind. You'll never know what the future holds, but by _not_ buying a "gimped" version, you will be ready for whatever down the line.

I have the disk version of the PS5 and love it. For me as a college student it was important to have a game console and having a blue ray player in one as I don’t have a lot of extra space. Having the option to buy games cheaper is a bonus to as I buy where ever is the cheapest weather it’s digitally or physically. The one issue I have with digital games is once Sony decides to close off the store in a couple of years you won’t be able to buy or possibly access the games you bought or plan to buy. Where as with physical games they will still be floating around and you still have the opportunity to play them even if the store is shut down. Overall both the digital and disk consoles are great systems but for me my preference is the disk drive PS5.
I started with a Digital edition because that was the only one I could secure during pre orders. I have since acquired a physical edition. I definitely prefer physical. It’s offers way more benefits
After 2.5 years i finally sold off my PS5 Digital Edition and immediately bought a brand new disc version. I'll likely still buy many games digitally but I definitely never felt fully comfortable going 100% digital. I feel like I I had lost something with my gaming experience. I already feel much better allowing myslef the opportunity of choice.
As long as disc-based consoles exist, I will always go that route. Being forced to buy games only from one marketplace you're at the mercy of Sony and their absurd digital games pricing. Here in my country (South Africa), the pricing seems especially out of sync on the PS Store where most digital copies new, day one releases are more expensive than their disc versions which makes no sense. But I digress, even if prices are one to one I'd still prefer disc since I'm all for ownership of my media anyways.
@@mikem2253 other than than fact that discs break, get scratched, lost and occasion ally stuck in disc drives. Everything has it pros and cons. I dont care if you have physical media. Also trading them in generally gives you a terrible amount if money anyway
I'm old school at heart. I love disc but I bought a digital only because I have children and they aren't at the age where they don't understand not to put things in the disc player yet so, rather than risk it getting destroyed....I opted to get digital.
I miss the little instruction manual they used to give you with the physical disc version of the game. I always read the story part so I knew what was going on before I started playing but nothing else. I can figure out the controls just by playing for a few minutes.
i ill never understand why the digital version of a game isn't cheaper from the jump! there's no reason why it should be just as, or more expensive, than the physical//disc version of said game
Despite owning more digital than physical copies of games, I got a disc based version of the PS5. I think it's a great system. Like I said I own more digital copies of games rather than physical copies and like the redit user I would consider myself to be a patient gamer who waits for games to go on sale. Some things that I like about having the disc based console: 1. There are some games I can get for a cheaper price if I wished to get the physical copies (although I have been able to get some great digital deals). 2. Another thing I like about it is that I can play the last guardian at 60 fps which is something you can only do if you own a physical copy of the game and run the original disc based code and don't download updates for the game. I wish Sony can get a 60 fps patch for the game so that those who own a digital copy of the game or have been able to access it via the PS Plus collection can also experience it at 60fps. The only drawback that I can think of is that the disc based version of the PS5 cost me £450 which equates to €534/$560. Whereas the all digital version costs £350 and is £100 less than the disc based console which equates to €415/$437. I could be wrong. However, I do think that by the time we see a mid gen refresh for the PS5 be it in the form of slim/pro models that Sony will do away with the disc drive altogether especially as the market is moving towards becoming all digital.
Would they get rid of the physical version, though? I totally get your reasoning, and there is sense to it, but by my understanding, the disc drive console sells way more than the all-digital console. If they just sold the disc drive console, it would cost them nothing. A lot of people will still buy digital games, and keeping the disc drive does nothing but garner them good will with the people who still want physical media. Whereas if they just sell the lower selling digital version, it'll give them a pretty nasty PR backlash that would've been completely avoidable.
@@Tyler_W 1. More and more people are buying games digitally. In 2021 93.4% of all game sales were digital vs 6.6% boxed. 2. More and more developers are releasing their games digitally followed by a delayed physical release. 3. A lot of electronics manufacturers have stopped and ceased production of DVD, bluray and 4K bluray players as they see a don't towards all digital. Whether we like it or not the writing is on the wall for physical media and I think that both Sony and Microsoft will do away with the disc drives altogether when we see the mid-gen refreshes of their respective systems.
@@lukastemberger Yeah the console wars is just stupid and I don't know why people feel they owe their loyalty to a particular companies plastic box when they can just enjoy gaming by playing games.

It's all preference. I have a ps5 and series x and don't own a single physical copy. I haven't bought a physical copy in 10 years. Have no desire to buy physical so how would paying an extra $100 benefit me at all?
I went for the disc version for two reasons, it's possible to save quite a bit of money on new games if you shop around some and at the price of PS5 games that's doubly needed. And, my Playstation's have always been the entertainment system, so I need them to be able to play DVD's and Blu-ray's too.
I got my gf the digital. Was thinking I should just get the disc drive one, but she wanted that one. Maybe later down the road when (if) they are easier to get and or they have some limited edition or even a slim...
I always pick up physical copies of games (outside of sports or deeply discounted games I wasn't looking forward too) because I like to collect as much as I can. Having the option to trade in or share your games with friends is huge to me. Also, I've been using paypal on gamestops website to do payment plans on the more pricey games when I don't feel like dishing out the 60 or 70 dollars all at once. I end up paying like 17-18 dollars every two weeks and still get the game fast, a great option in my opinion.
Mine is physical even thought i buy mostly digital games because movies, perhaps cheaper physical games etc, etc i love physical but physical these days are a key only
I bought the disc version for the same reason. It is better to have both. I personally don’t have the space to keep the disc cases so I buy it digitally a lot of the time but I is very disappointing to have games only 10-15% less when the game have been for a while. (Even when the game is not popular)
I have the Disc drive PS5 so I can still play my PS4 games. I get the feeling the PS6 won’t even offer a disc drive version. So you will either have to keep your PS5 at that point and hope it continues to work well past its prime at that point to still be able to use your physical PS5 games, or have digital access to all of your old games in the PS6.
I bought the PS4 version of Death Stranding for $10 on FB Marketplace. Got the PS5 upgrade for $10 bucks. Death Stranding cost me $20. That’s what physical is king!

Why pay more when you can get something for way cheaper, i don’t care about collecting games and usually all games sooner or later comes to Ps plus or Ps now if you want too replay a game or after a while you probably can find that game under 10$. If i buy 2 physical Ps5 games i have already saved more then the physical Ps5 vs digital. And a console gen lasts usually 7 years. Someone like me who play tons of games per year, that’s 1000s of $ saved on games.
@@ivandeloo8229 Amen. I always remind people of the 2cnd hand market in these discussions, which everyone seems to forget about. & at the same time that you are saving $ you are supporting other gamers who can go back & invest that $ in more games. & the 2cnd hand market is the only thing keeping consoles from charging us $100s of dollars per game...which they already do really by breaking games up into dlc.
Full Digital also mean give the full control to the platform holder or even publisher to 'delist/modify/censor/remove' a game. For example, P.T. or older GTA games removed from stores to sell the newer censored versions as the only option, same thing with Sonic Origins, remove access to older titles to buy individually and get people to buy the newer bundle and weird DLC charts with pre-order paywall. And so on... But hey, people nowadays cares about instant gratification, and suddently don't care to even to own their games.
I bought the disc version because I’ve always only bought physical discs. However, since the PS5 I’ve only bought digital games. With preorders the games are downloaded before the release date and then available immediately on release date, which took away my main criticism for downloaded games (games taking forever to download). Still I don’t regret buying the disc option as I have options, and the cost difference was fairly small.
People understood and discussed the disadvantages of not having a disc drive well before the PS5 went on sale. This person obviously did not look into this before their purchase. Personally, I got the disc version because buying a separate 4k blu-ray player is way more than $100.
I may buy most of my games digital but I still love getting the occasional physical game it’s a great feeling opening up a new game. That’s the main reason I went disk with my PS5
The reason I like physical is because the games are cheaper and you never know if one day You're console gets hacked and they take away all your games And change your password an email that's why i prefer physical instead And I still have all my games and console from when i was kid and now So I love my collection 🙂
I got both a digital and a disc version on launch day, I kept the digital for myself and sold the disc version (at retail price) to a kid that works for me. I chose the digital because I haven't bought a disc since god of war 2018 and also it just plain looks better. However, I do regret not keeping the disc version for myself. I lost out on the uncharted free upgrade, and other games that I finished and won't likely go back to. Coulda sold all those games. Oh well, still happy to own a PS5!
I bought the digital and honestly, I'm fine with it. BUT there's no denying the sales that go on physical copies of games sometimes will be cheaper than the digital version. But at the same time, it's constant sales going on in the store. Just depends if you're big in collecting OR like to share games. My brother has a disc ps5 and he wanted me to play guardians of the galaxy after he finished it but..... 🤷🏿♂️
Just bought a physical copy of SIFU. It came with a stealcase, artbook and some sick lithographs. I skipped the digital version. I rather wait months longer for a phsyical release, than downloading a game digitally.
I never have to worry about the disk being damaged or the disk tray going out. Bad disk trays are the most common problem with gaming consoles. Also my digital addition is quieter than the disk addition.
I got a disc Ps5 on release day and I love seeing the art work on the cases and discs because each company takes there time too not only make the game look and feel perfect but they also want the discs and cases too look good as well and I do not regret buying the disc ps5 because the downside of a digital console is you can't sell your games in the future if you need money
Imo buying a digital console is akin to begging somebody to overcharge you. For example.... Anthem is still being sold on the PS store for full price. Let that sink in..... A game that for all intents is dead, is still listed at full price (it's $5 on ebay). That's your digital console convenience. You can't buy used games, and you're stuck paying whatever PlayStation / Xbox wants to charge you. Regardless of the fact the game may or may not be worth it. And once you get a game digitally, you're stuck with it. It's yours. No reselling, no trading, no borrowing your friends game to see if you actually like it. That's digital for you. When the day comes that I can no longer buy physical copies of games, that'll be the day I stop playing new games. Thankfully I have physical copies of games and consoles dating all the way back to the original NES. So I'll always have something to play.
Here in Sweden Digital Ps5 Exclusives cost 85$ and other games 74$. Physical games cost around 50-60$. And i sell games after i’m done with them, sometimes after i get platina trophy. I've wanted to get the PS5 Digital Edition--honestly, because of the upcoming PSVR2. I was hell-bent on getting the Digital-only version, both because of it's cheaper up-front price, and because I assumed I wouldn't want to have to deal with storing disc games. In fact, I've actually had a couple of chances to get the Disc version, and turned them down because I've been vapor-locked on the idea of getting the Digital-only version. This discussion, however, is definitely making me rethink my choice. Suddenly, it occurs to me that "saving" that hundred extra dollars might end up being no real savings at all. Also, I guess I didn't really think about the fact that I might want to play games that were originally (and only) made for the PS4. Thanks for this video; I'll definitely be giving the idea of getting the PS5 Disc version a *much* closer look.
Went digital for my PS5 and haven’t turned back since, I got the 4TB SSD & 5TB EXTERNAL space for days, but I definitely understand the digital sales, but I have patience ended up waiting for the ghost wire Tokyo sale and was on point cuz it ended up being on sale anyway, and I go day one for most titles that I have an inkling would be amazing
The idea of limiting your consumer choices to one store is terrible. Physical allows for competition. It also gives owners an asset that can be sold for a dollar value to subsidize other game purchases.

I bought the physical edition because I get the benefits of both ends, I get low cost digital games and low cost physical games. Whatever benefits the digital version gives I get plus more, I get to watch my 4K media instead of spending 500 dollars more on a BluRay player that can okay my content.
I've been all digital since 2015. I got the disc based ps5 day 1 because that's what I found first but to save 100 dollars and have the console that I feel looks better out of the 2...I would have been happy with the digital only ps5.
I had to go with the digital ps5 because that was the last ps5 in-store to pre-order. I'm still glad I have a ps5. Both of my brothers have the disc edition.
I got a ps4. however I had thought of getting the ps5 but I'll wait on it. honestly I would get the disc version because you can have the benefit of having the disc when you can buy games cheaper and sometimes buy the download and save a little bit of money at the same time. it's overall just better get the disc version and look out for discs and downloads on ps plus. there are great deals to look out for
There are many reasons why I aim for and try to buy without alteration, physical copies. One of my biggest reasons is that when you make a purchase of a physical copy, it’s actually worth something monetarily after. Return on investment is possible with physical copies. When you buy a digital game 100% of the money goes to getting that game but you don’t have the ability to get anything back later if you choose to and that can be a problem especially if the game starts going up in perceived value online. The video you’ve made here has a lot of talking points interwoven through it but for the most part I hope that physical media sticks around for a long time.
I've been all digital since 2014. PS4, and PS5. I own 1 PS4 disc because I got an Amazon gift card for Christmas and bought HZD. I just don't have room for a big library of physical games. All my retro stuff is in storage atm, and it's a lot. I'll pull out the N64 or PS2 every once in a while to play something old, but after I'm done it goes back into storage.
Having digital games is a bit more convenient, but if you have a disc ps5 you can games a lot cheaper. You basically have to wait for ps store sales if you have the digital console.
I mostly buy Digital and the few Games I own on a Disc,I got a huge discount on them,I don’t like to limit my Gaming experience plus why would I turn down my first 4K Player and I could also play my PS4 Disc Games on it
I'm really glad I got the disc ps5 because it's a blu-ray player. With streaming service pricing getting wild these days, it's nice to just HAVE a movie on blu-ray.
Not sure if anyone mentioned this but there are select games that don’t have a digital version with English Subs yet there are Asia physical versions that do.
I've put discs away since PS3 days. I have a large PS3 disc collection, but since moving to PS4 I got it at launch and only had 3 disc games for it ever. I have a disc PS5, and Miles Morales was the first and last disc game I played in it only because it came bundled.
Well some people don't have a house and can't stack up game cases to infinity 😂 I'm only buying the games I really love/want physical and the rest stays digital. Hell I have over a thousand games on steam and there's no disc for that. At this point most games need huge patches or server connection to even work properly. Having a physical disk is becoming more and more irrelevant.
I like to collect steelbooks for my more anticipated titles. Plus I just like to have physical copies over digital unless there's a sale on the store. The digital only ps5 was never an option for me lol
I just got on some RUclipsr for trying to sell incomplete PlayStation 5s (Digital systems) In which it would cost people even more money down the line.People would also end up losing money. You come out better just getting the full system.
I would never buy a digital console. The poster is actually right when comes to buying games and also hard drive space is an issue as well. I haven’t paid full price for a physical game in years. I purchased horizon forbidden west day one for 60 bucks brand new. Physical games always go on sale a lot faster than digital. You can also buy digital games on the disc console so there is no benefit other than saving 100 bucks
Why on earth would anyone buy the digital Ps5? You can't play physical ps4 or Ps5 games nor can you play physical blu rays/DVD's. 100 bucks is not worth all the negatives.
You have to see the benefits from physical and digital side . As a digital owner I live the fact that I csn install and uninstall every games I've own and not have to worry about it
@@busyhandskast I suppose. I just don't think 100 bucks is worth all the limits. And as has been discussed, the digital prices are significantly higher.
I have a digital ps5 and in hindsight I maybe should've gone for a disc based version. It's not really a deal breaker for me because I have so many digital PS4 games in my backlog that I probably wouldn't need to buy a game for the next 2 years. Including PS+ games I have around 380 PS4 games and 50 PS5 games in my library which are mostly enhanced PS4 versions. For single-player games like Horizon I mostly wait till they get cheaper. Now the choice to go digital only was that I only had a handful of disc games for PS4. And for most of those I also had a digital copy. I often play multiple games in a week and I really like not having to change discs. Now for PS4 games especially the singleplayer games would go on sale very often after 1 year after it's initial release. Costing often less the 20 euros. I figured that would also be the case for PS5 games but haven't really seen a big price drop yet for some of those games. Like spider man miles morales hasn't been below 40 euros yet. If I had to choose again I would've probably gone with a disc based PS5 although I'm more a fan of digital games. But the ridiculous PSN prices for PS5 games make a disc-based version the better option I think.
I got me a Disc PS5, hell, I always get nostalgia vibes when it comes to disc drives and when I insert the disc, it feels so good to remember having a Wii with this, now I saved up and bought the ps5
I'm old school myself but digital has it's upsides as well like u don't have to worry about ur game getting permanently damaged or someone stealing ur game
Disc or digital PS5? Let me know what you choose and why.
Disc because I still buy all physical games. I also wanted a 4k Blu ray player.
Disc. I use both 50/50 on my ps4 pro. Still cant find any ps5 tp buy in sweden. XD
Disc. I like collecting physical copies of games
I bought 2 disc PS5s. I love the option to buy either physical and digital games. You can also sell your physical games unlike the digital option…
Disc. Why limit your choices?
Also ... already had an entire library of PS4 discs to play
That was never an option for me, I am old school, love my physical copies, will always love them.
Same, had the chance to buy a digital PS5 but it was a quick no for me. Physical al the way
Same Here. Physical is choice a some ownership

Same. There is just something about seeing all my PS4 games in their blue cases lined up next to one another.
I Buy Physical When I Can, But Yes Can't Help Buying Those Really Cheap Sales On Digital.
Your comment is my exact thoughts. Like this shouldn't be a revaluation. More like common knowledge
This.
@@robk5437 super true, it's a scam lol
Yea all digital is bad cause they can shut it down anytime
In Australia digital games actually cost minimum $10 more than physical. I mainly only buy game I know I'll love but 100% digital isn't worth it
I’m an “adult with a well paying job” and STILL prefer the disc model :)
I get your point, saving some bucks to buy other stuff is better but digitally you have to buy games at full price, I have digital and now I’m seeing a huge difference, I friend of mine bought ratchet and clank for 20 bucks vs 70 which is the full price
@@justpassingby3409 Totally agree. The “freedom of choice” should easily pay for the price diff (digi vs disc) during the consoles life cycle.
Why not just buy the disc version you can still buy your games digital and you can also just buy your games physical copy just like ps3 and ps4
If your friend has physical copy of that game you can borrow it from him and play it
The thing about digital is that if this was the only option sony made then it would be something else but as long you can get one with disc and digital the freedom to buy games digital or physical copy or even borrow games from friends is much better than digital + you can also watch movies or listen to music if you have them in disc too
Bought a digital version and I'm happy with my choice.
Don't hold your breathe. 🙂
Have absolutely no idea why anyone would pick having a digital only over having the option of both. I think it's madness

If a PS6 was digital only, I would have a lot of reservations about getting it.. unless if they added a way to transfer your disc license over without having a drive. I don’t know how they could accomplish this.
And why should Sony do that? No company in their right mind would offer you that
I bought a digital only ps5 and love it.
Please state the authentication key for the people in the back. We don't "own" anything, we're licensed to play.

Same, people just like to bitch.
same!
You don't own your digital library
@@loganvggvv641 and most of the time a disc just holds a code to download the game.
Was lucky to get a digital on launch. If I could walk into a store and grab one off the shelf, it would be a disc version. Took what I could get.
If i buy 2 physical Ps5 games i have already saved more then the physical Ps5 vs digital. And a console gen lasts usually 7 years. Someone like me who play tons of games per year, that’s 1000s of $ saved on games.
It's all about giving yourself options. It's really a no-brainer if only for ease of mind. You'll never know what the future holds, but by _not_ buying a "gimped" version, you will be ready for whatever down the line.
I got the disc version. I would never go with all digital if I have the option. I’d rather own my games physically.
Being able to sell off games after playing them is an option you can’t miss out on.

Physical copy collections are what I live for
I have the disk version of the PS5 and love it.
The blue ray 4K player is worth the difference alone
After 2.5 years i finally sold off my PS5 Digital Edition and immediately bought a brand new disc version. I'll likely still buy many games digitally but I definitely never felt fully comfortable going 100% digital. I feel like I I had lost something with my gaming experience. I already feel much better allowing myslef the opportunity of choice.
I tell everyone that cry’s over 70 dollar games. Just wait 1 - 2 months and get it used for around 45
I always wait until they’re in the bargain bin for $20
As long as disc-based consoles exist, I will always go that route.
You actually don't own the game, only the license to play it. Even the physical edition its still just a license to play

I'm old school at heart. I love disc but I bought a digital only because I have children and they aren't at the age where they don't understand not to put things in the disc player yet so, rather than risk it getting destroyed....I opted to get digital.
I bought the disc version and always will
I miss the little instruction manual they used to give you with the physical disc version of the game.
I couldn't get a digital only PS5, still haven't used the drive on mine and probably never will.
Got a disk version since i have a cloections of old games i can play on it. Also feels more complete.
Despite owning more digital than physical copies of games, I got a disc based version of the PS5. I think it's a great system. Like I said I own more digital copies of games rather than physical copies and like the redit user I would consider myself to be a patient gamer who waits for games to go on sale. Some things that I like about having the disc based console:
I mainly get Physical consoles I really can't stand Digital consoles.

Mine is physical even thought i buy mostly digital games because movies, perhaps cheaper physical games etc, etc i love physical but physical these days are a key only
Non-disc was never an option for me. I buy both physical and download. Prefer disc based if price is the same or close.
If you regret it, then That’s on you for not being realistic to yourself short/long term usage. Not Sony.

Nope no regrets. Haven’t bought a disc game since black ops 2
People understood and discussed the disadvantages of not having a disc drive well before the PS5 went on sale. This person obviously did not look into this before their purchase.

I may buy most of my games digital but I still love getting the occasional physical game it’s a great feeling opening up a new game. That’s the main reason I went disk with my PS5

Disk version. All digital isn’t worth it for only a $100 saving. My os4 game collection exploded when I bought a ton of old used games.
I got the disk ps5 because I love physical copy
I never have to worry about the disk being damaged or the disk tray going out. Bad disk trays are the most common problem with gaming consoles. Also my digital addition is quieter than the disk addition.
I got a disc Ps5 on release day and I love seeing the art work on the cases and discs because each company takes there time too not only make the game look and feel perfect but they also want the discs and cases too look good as well and I do not regret buying the disc ps5 because the downside of a digital console is you can't sell your games in the future if you need money
I got the disc version it was the best decision

I went old school, i like having a physical copy. Which i can resell or trade.
I was lucky enough to get the disk version on launch day and it arrived a week later. I'm really hoping I get the same luck with the PSVR2.
Exactly why physical >>>>>>>> digital in every way.
If i buy 2 physical Ps5 games i have already saved more then the physical Ps5 vs digital. And a console gen lasts usually 7 years. Someone like me who play tons of games per year, that’s 1000s of $ saved on games.
Not surprised someone would be dissatisfied with the digital only PS5
100% of the money goes to the devs whether it's digital or disc anyway.
This isn't how it works, Sony takes a cut from the developer so it's not 100% because Sony wants extra money Just like Xbox and Steam who also did it.
I wish we could delete our free PS Plus games from our accounts
I mostly buy Digital and the few Games I own on a Disc,I got a huge discount on them,I don’t like to limit my Gaming experience plus why would I turn down my first 4K Player and I could also play my PS4 Disc Games on it
I've become so desperate to get a PS5 I don't even care which version I get anymore. 😌
🤣
😂So funny
I want a digital I don’t buy physical games who wanna trade ?
I don’t know how this situation is so complicated
Got the disc version a few weeks ago no regrets 😁
As a digital owner I live the fact that I csn install and uninstall every games I've own and not have to worry about it
It's good for casual players who only play FIFA every year
@@busyhandskast I suppose.
I'm a disc man and always appreciate when going for disc, you'll be able to gain more online support and getting DLC than missing out.
I'm old school myself but digital has it's upsides as well like u don't have to worry about ur game getting permanently damaged or someone stealing ur game
