Thanks Mike, great to see your "Hybrid" approach to tackling a project like this, you did an exceptional job in matching the frames, many people would have built as one and then parted front and back, but that wouldn't have given you the extra mms width on the front to allow for the cut for the two doors I guess ! Looking forward to seeing how you fit it out !
That is my normal approach to box/lid making, but yes, the gap was one issue- the other was getting 200mm wide timber. Yes, you can buy it- but this is made entirely from reclaimed timber (apart from the ply and veneer of course). I had confidence from my machinist's toolbox (see my series on that) that I could get the frames to match- but it was still a relief when they did...
@@Tensquaremetreworkshop we all have our own approach and skillsets to building things. I have been enjoying your builds, and I look forward to seeing the final tool cabinet. I suspect you'll come very close to the cleverness seen in the Studley Tool Chest, which I admire.
@@toddstrope157 My interest in the Studley TC extended to buying the book... Admirable as it is, there are a few design choices that I would not echo. One is his random approach to location- there is little in the way of grouping. I have not reached that point yet, and may also be driven to 'spread'- we shall see. All I can say at the moment is that I am enjoying the build immensely.

“Purists can make their own” 😂, great work, befitting a machinist indeed.
Thanks! Some may think that building a shrine to hand woodworking using machine tools and CNC is somehow 'wrong'- but it suits me.
