I would definitely paint the bedroom ceiling blue but leave the pink room as is, like you said at the start! a blue ceiling would look SO gorgeous in your bedroom, go for it! and the green room looks super pretty too!
The green room does look bigger with the color drenching; it gives the appearance of higher ceilings since the wall color is the same. I agree that the white ceiling and pink walls in the other room is very satisfying the way it is. I liked watching you shop for cushions. I'm looking forward to seeing you style your new Vivaias.
Unfortunately, paint will not permanently cure the mold spots on your ceiling. Getting rid of the source of moisture is the only thing that will permanently get rid of them. Better to redo the pointing, fix the roof, etc. It's a pain, but you need to track down every source of moisture getting in. I love reading cushions, and use them on my bed every night. I think it's nice to have them in a guest room, in case your guests want to read themselves to sleep. If they don't, it's easy enough to throw them onto the chair. When I go to Etsy, I make sure to put "handmade" in the search bar if I want to limit my search to those items. It helps eliminate much of the mass produced stuff. Also, have you considered a white or cream bed cover in the green room? Or a quilt that is mostly white or cream with just a tiny bit of red? Now that the ceiling is dark, it might provide a nice fresh contrast. What ever cushions you choose, you might consider a pattern much larger that the one on the bed cover. I guess what I'm saying is that with the ceiling dark, the room now needs more contrast. If you paint your own bedroom ceiling, you might try a lighter blue than the one in the wallpaper. And personally, I loved hearing your thought processes on design. They're so much like mine, it was nicely confirming.
Love the makeover in the green bedroom. Love that you shared your process. I think the blue ceiling would be nice. If however you aren't 100% on it, I think an alternative would be to paint the ceiling a creamy off white to match the wallpaper color. Because I agree, it is a bit of a stark contrast between the wallpaper, blue and pure white. The pink room is perfect. If in the future you ever decide to color drench it, I'd paint the trim a shade darker, to give it the dimension I think the white provides now.
Green room looks great, l love green, we have had our bedrooms, hall, stairs and landing redecorated and had the ceilings the same colour as the walls, makes the rooms look bigger l think, your reading cushions would be lovely with some cushion covers and use them downstairs, everything is looking lovely xx
Love the green color drench! For the master bedroom a middle ground may be matching the ceiling color to the cream color in the wallpaper to make it look more cohesive. But paint is just paint so try out the blue and see if you like it! If not you can paint over it again
I thought exactly that when their bedroom was made over, that the ceiling should have been the same colour of the wallpaper, that cream. White looks weird. But the room turned out beautiful nonetheless.
I love videos like this. Hearing your thoughts on interior design. No one can imagine and think of everything so hearing someone else’s opinion is nice. We’re moving in 3 weeks so in our new home will be a lot of renovation. This video came at exactly the right time. Thank you :)
I so appreciate you screen sharing with us as you shopped for cushions and visualized them in your green bedroom. Watching your process was fascinating, and very helpful to me as someone who doesn’t have a great sense for styling!
I love the last red cushion with the larger pattern for the green room. That room has a lot of strong colours and patterns, so another nice strong pattern will hold up and not get lost. The girly one gets lost a little. In your room, paint the ceiling blue for sure! ❤
Paint the bedroom ceiling blue; you'll have balance: one fully color-washed room, one with color wash but contrast with the wallpaper, and one with a simple white ceiling.
I love the green room with the ceiling! Your green room inspired my green room :D I agree, I think the bedroom would be gorgeous with a blue ceiling. I'm a big fan of the painted ceiling, but yeah the pink looks nice with the contrast x
Hi there, we have an old house too. Sadly it comes with old houses as they are typically single brick so the mould can come from the cold outside walls with the warm inside. Especially bad in bedrooms where there's lots of breathing! the colour drenching looks gorgeous!
I love your green room! I recently colour drenched our guest room green, I can’t believe how nerve wracking it was but the result was better than my expectations, it feels so cocooning like being inside a grassy knoll! Thank you for your videos I love them, you always give so much information and insight. X
In keeping with the concept of colour-washing in the principal bedroom, would you consider painting both the cornice and ceiling the exact same off-white colour as the wallpaper background BUT colour-drench in blue the window sill, window, and window reveal/recess? The blue might be too heavy on the ceiling but should pop as an "outside-in" idea, making a feature of the gorgeous cottage window. New sub from Australia, decorating a Cornwall-and-Cape-Cod-had-a-baby cottage.
Love the green colour drenching. A pop of red with either cushion would be lovely. I think a blue ceiling would look great in your bedroom. Or a cream colour to match the wallpaper background colour. I do like the white ceiling in the pink bedroom, the contrast is nice. A more muted/off-white can be nice too if you wanted a less stark contrast, or even a tonal variation of the wall colour. 💚
I do like your planning process. A mood board would be helpful , too. This technique would sure be helpful to me. I'm thinking of slowly redoing my bedroom. Thank you so much!! I'm thinking a blue ceiling in your bedroom would make your room very cozy. I love the color drenching in the green room. Take care. ❤
Hi Maddie, about the cushions, I really loved the light red ones that you showed us, the strongest red or the first ones you tried are a little bit too much, but because the cover is gorgeous and the touch of the light red is just perfect!
I think you should paint the bedroom ceiling a very light blue so that it has interest but doesn't bring the ceiling down like a darker blue would. I've seen this done before in my own inspiration I've saved and really like it!
A painted ceiling in a darker colour is an experiment if its a first time .I like the look of colour drenching .Think it can make a room look bigger.Yourcoulor choices look so interesting and jolly.😄🎉
Maybe a humidifier long term will help this green guest room ;) I wouldn't paint your room I would just apply a stencil of birds or other on the ceiling and leave it. I would however paint the pink room ceiling since you have done one room might as well do the other since it's not wallpapered. I am going to try your dumpling recipe this weekend fingers crossed it works. I would get end of roll fabric or vintage fabric and make pillow covers or old jumpers. Quilts are also easy to make with squares I am thinking of doing that myself with an old sleeping camping bag.
Hi, colour drenching is a great concept. Green room looked lovely. I’ve moved away from F&B paint since think Dulex bought the company so I’ve moved to Little Greene(it’s vegan & smaller UK company), so I’d recommend it (you can order it from Brewers or directly from Little Greene)…
I really enjoyed this vlog and love seeing your thought process. I am struggling with decision making at the moment when it comes to colour for rooms, just way too much choice is too overwhelming for me. We are just doing a little refurb of our bathroom on a budget and have gone for nice warm tone and I am considering painting the ceiling to match, not yet thinking of doing the door as well though as you say it is hard to commit fully to colour drenching we live in a bungalow so look though to the other rooms often so I feel keeping the doors all white adds some cohesion.
I moved into the house that I am in now, and they had painted all the rooms with the ceiling the same. Whilst it looks good in some rooms, when you do it to ALL the rooms it starts to look contrived. Your green room looks stunning, but refrain from attacking every ceiling in the house:). Check out the fabric at Vanessa Arbuthnott, the ones from Emma Simms-Hilditch and Elanbach does some lovely ones too..OH, and Kate Foreman...ALL BRITISH BRANDS.
You always amaze me….you can do so many things! ❤️” Color drenching”….wow….it does look so nice!…you make what seems like hard work…look easy! I do love the red and green cushions in the green room….especially the one with deep red fringe and paired with another red and green print when you first started ..👍…so fun and interesting to watch your process….IMO your bedroom would look better with a blue ceiling…..👍partly because in my view the whites on the ceiling differ from the white on the wallpaper 🤷♀️….
small thing, but that expensive quilt was crochet and crochet always has to be made by hand, so I feel like buying an expensive one from a good shop would be better than finding a cheaper dupe to make sure the people who made it get paid for it properly :)
I feel like a nice more solid color on the cushions has a bigger impact, however Im not sold on the red it does feel like christmas to me. I love the idea for the blue ceiling
Definitely paint the ceiling blue. I think the white ceiling looks out of place against the base colour if the wallpaper because it's bright white against off white/cream. I'm in the process of colour drenching my green bedroom too! Just trying to summon the energy to do the final ceiling coat and the woodwork 😅
I don't like color drenching but I do think that painting you ceiling blue would look good. I like white ceilings but your wallpaper would look even more gorgeous.
If you paint it blue then after a bit don't like it you can always just paint over it with a cream color to match the wallpaper and lighten up the room
Would painting the ceiling medallion the same cream colour of the light fixture look better? I know you're treating it like trim, but I feel like the little base of the light looks stark now, and if the medallion was cream it wld look like part of the light fixture and give it more of a presence/look whole. But im not sure.
I love your thought process and especially your idea to paint the ceiling blue. Btw when you were painting your ceiling you played a beautiful song can you share the name? Diana Romero
TK Maxx in person has many many more beautiful cushions than on their website and also Anthropologie has gorgeous cushions too but more expensive, they have good sales though
I think you should leave your bedroom ceiling white as the wallpaper has a white background. Out of all the cushions you showed, I prefer the original green ones as they bring the wall colour onto the bed and more harmonising. Some of the others looked a bit too much of a clash. I enjoy the content of your videos and being part of the design process of your lovely home xxx
Have you tried Susie Watson Designs for cushions? I lurve their cushions. By the way , your hair in the post London part of this video, is sooo nice! Looks fab. Xx
Love the complete color drenching! Thank you for walking us through your creative process. That’s really helpful both to learn how to style, where to shop/seek everything from paint to textiles, and to know the tools to use with a quick tutorial. The bedroom ceiling painted blue would look dreamy and hey, if you don’t like it it’s just paint. Have you ever thought about a fundraising link for the expenses of the pointing, guttering, and paint removal on your outer walls? You have many invested viewers that could maybe help get it done sooner so you don’t have damp in the upper rooms. ❤️
Kia ora from New Zealand 😊 what if you painted the bedroom ceiling blue, but just knocked back the shade slightly? Same beautiful blue, but a slightly lighter shade ...
The wallpapered room would look amazing with blue ceiling =) I love painted ceilings, I have a green and a yellow ceiling! And now I want a wallpapered ceiling also. I would deffinately keep the reading pillows, I always use them and they make the bed look even more inviting.
I think your bedroom would be stunning with a blue ceiling! I've been painting my ceilings the same colour as the wall for many years now and I love it.
Are you not worried about the water/mold that's behind the plasterboards? I mean, that cannot be good for the house or healthy, huh? I'm not used to that type of construction so please explain if not!
Hi Madeleine! I totally wouldn’t get rid of the Euro shams. I think they will encourage your guests to linger in bed longer and provide more overall comfort, which, in turn, will allow you to sleep in more. It’s just a thought…
gorgeous results! Though for future you dont paint over anti mold paint otherwise it doesnt work, i learned from doing my bathroom celing in it. stupid really as theres not much colour choice in anti mold paint!🤣
I could never understand folk doing beautiful rooms then a plain white ceiling. I have always done mine the same. Absolutely love the green room and would definitely do the others. Looks finished and cosy big fan looks lovely ❤ xxx
For paint I would leave the pink room as is Love what you did in the green room Your room I almost would go with a lighter blue on top a companion to the blue you chose so it doesn’t feel so much like a lid on a box Cushions, I like your idea about red the crocheted block that’s a fad it’s going to fade. I would not do that. I would branch out more look at your local upholstery shops& fabric shops and wait and find a fabric that really speaks to you. Sometimes you can find a local person to do cushions and it’s really not as much as you think. Also, when you’re in the resale shops look at old draperies, those can be ripped apart and made into fabric that can cover cushions Thanks for an enjoyable afternoon. I always love spending time with you.❤
Bleach is the worst thing you could use on black mould! Unfortunately it won’t get rid of it and is a health hazard. You could use vinegar instead which you apply liberally over a couple of days, let it all dry out, then wipe it off, then use an anti mould paint. Like others have said it won’t probably cure it coming back though if the source isn’t rectified. We did a lot of research as we had to clean up some spores in our home and now we have no issues. I would urge anyone to stay clear of using bleach though!
Definitely would paint the ceiling in your bedroom. And as far as cushions go, I love to match the drapes & cushions. Could you get some of the same fabric as the drapes & cover the large reading pillows with that fabric & then get smaller accent pillows in a complimentary color? Since you say no one likes to sleep on the reading pillows, might as well use them to make a big impact. Also, I’m a big fan of mismatched lamps and/or shades. Keep up the good work, love your vlogs!
This is not a criticism, just pointing something out. All cushion covers are 'handmade' as they are made by a human! I totally understand that you mean that you want to avoid fast fashion / drop shippers but it is important to remember that most textiles we buy are made by a human. It's not our fault that capitalism is alienating us from the chain of production, but we should try to remember that even fast fashion / fast homewares are made by skilled people who are being taken advantage of / underpaid / working in unsafe conditions. Also i LOVE the green room! I think blue ceiling in the bedroom will be lovely and calming.
Of course, just a slip of words. I just mean made in someone’s home or small business, as opposed to in a factory or sweatshop where people are being taken advantage of.
😍 so funny you posted this as we just decided to double drench our hall/stairs/landings and my daughter probably going to full drench her sitting-room 👍
The green room looks so lovely! If you end up keeping the reading cushions maybe try a bolster cushion in front instead of smaller square cushions. This may be me projecting - I'm dying to put a lovely patterned bolster cushion on my bed, lol. ❤
I would definitely paint the bedroom ceiling blue but leave the pink room as is, like you said at the start! a blue ceiling would look SO gorgeous in your bedroom, go for it! and the green room looks super pretty too!

Such great advice.
Could this be the very lovely Dotty in Cornwall with the wonderful Airbnb I used to stay at a couple of years ago with my husband and daughter?
Love the makeover in the green bedroom. Love that you shared your process.

I would paint the ceiling a creamier white that better complements the background colour in the beautiful wallpaper.
I was just about to send a comment suggesting exactly the same thing!
Whilst you're waiting to sort the route cause of the damp, run a dehumidifier in the room often - it'll help with moisture levels
Paint the ceiling blue! It would look so complete and lovely!

Maddie, you are a genius decorator; your home looks like a beautiful, relaxing getaway! Thanks for all the great tips! ❤
This was very useful, thank you. You have great style xxx
Great to see your thought process when choosing different pieces, really interesting
Maddie, the green color on the ceiling looks great. It finishes the room.👍👍❤❤
i absolutely loved seeing the planning with the cushions, so interesting
Yes I agree burgundy and red cushions stripped and some velvet rusty colour with lush gold trims.
Love the green ceiling, and 100% I would do the blue ceiling in your bedroom.

Your bedroom ceiling might look lovely in a blue that is the same as the trim but 50% lighter. Such a lovely space!!
Yay paint the ceiling, it will look beautiful
I would paint the ceiling blue too!
I loved watching your design process! Thanks for sharing ❤
Can‘t wait for the bathroom reno! 😍
Me neither!!
Take care. ❤
I would match the ceiling colour to the base colour of your wallpaper in your bedroom instead of stark white. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Maddie, about the cushions, I really loved the light red ones that you showed us, the strongest red or the first ones you tried are a little bit too much, but because the cover is gorgeous and the touch of the light red is just perfect!

Maybe for the blue room you can do one of the light blues in the wallpaper? I think it will keep the room nice and bright.
I really enjoyed how you pull a room together. I love that colour green. I'm thinking of painting my dresser that colour x
I would paint the ceiling blue. It would make the wallpaper pop. Love the green room.leave the pink room ceiling white
Love it! I think the trim painted just a shade or two lighter in the same green would make it pop really well!
A painted ceiling in a darker colour is an experiment if its a first time .I like the look of colour drenching .Think it can make a room look bigger.Yourcoulor choices look so interesting and jolly.😄🎉
Happy anniversary Alex and Maddie🩷🩷
Maybe a humidifier long term will help this green guest room ;) I wouldn't paint your room I would just apply a stencil of birds or other on the ceiling and leave it. Love it, so cosy 😊

New to your channel and I love it!
I feel like a nice more solid color on the cushions has a bigger impact, however Im not sold on the red it does feel like christmas to me. I love the idea for the blue ceiling
Hi Madeleine. We treat our damp with white vinegar as bleach isn’t good for breathing x

I'm in the process of colour drenching my green bedroom too! Just trying to summon the energy to do the final ceiling coat and the woodwork 😅
I knew, it wouldn't take long before, you painted the ceiling 😂. Looks great.
I have quite a few flats from Vivaia shoes. They are comfortable, I wear them all the time too. 😊
They’re so so comfy!
I have very wide feet. How are the flats for wideys please? By the way your channel xx@@MadeleineOlivia
i love love love the more themed videos you‘ve been doing recently!! feels like the channel has more of a direction 🫶🏼
Totally agree with you that your room would look great with a painted ceiling, but the pink room looks nice with the white ceiling!
I don't like color drenching but I do think that painting you ceiling blue would look good. I like white ceilings but your wallpaper would look even more gorgeous.
If you paint it blue then after a bit don't like it you can always just paint over it with a cream color to match the wallpaper and lighten up the room
Yes. Paint the main bedroom ceiling blue as well.
Would painting the ceiling medallion the same cream colour of the light fixture look better? I know you're treating it like trim, but I feel like the little base of the light looks stark now, and if the medallion was cream it wld look like part of the light fixture and give it more of a presence/look whole. The other rooms: love the white ceilings.
Mustard/ocre would look great with the green and red of the bedroom, rather than adding more red which gets lost against the bed cover.
Lovely green.
Blue ceiling can’t be beat. That would be better for the green room.
Lovely video thank you.
How about pillow shams in the bed pillows? More pillows for guests. Choices are good for guests. I sleep with five pillows nightly. 😂
Have you tried Susie Watson Designs for cushions? I lurve their cushions. By the way , your hair in the post London part of this video, is sooo nice! Looks fab. Xx
Would you mind sharing where you got your bedside lamps please?
Looks fab! Just wondering, did any paint from the roller splash onto your pictures on the wall ! 🎃
Haha no I was super careful!
Love the painted ceiling! That was a great choice 😍

Blue!!! 😊👍🏼
Kia ora from New Zealand 😊 what if you painted the bedroom ceiling blue, but just knocked back the shade slightly? Same beautiful blue, but a slightly lighter shade ...
Leave it white 😊
…Also, they give the bed a visual lift. There’s something about a big, fluffy pillow to lean back against while reading or watching a movie. Lovely!
Very interested to know how high up your leg those Vivaia boots go! As a fellow tall girl, I'd love to know as I consider purchasing them!
Great video. I would love for you to show us the apps you use like you did here. Cheers!
I’ll keep sharing!
Love the green ceiling. Would definitely paint your bedroom ceiling blue. Would look lovely.
Absolutely love the green ceiling. It makes the room so cosy I think I’d never come out 😂
The wallpapered room would look amazing with blue ceiling =) I love painted ceilings, I have a green and a yellow ceiling! And now I want a wallpapered ceiling also. I would deffinately keep the reading pillows, I always use them and they make the bed look even more inviting.

It’s an external issue we are saving up to fix! We are doing what we can in the meantime but it costs £20k+
@MadeleineOlivia right on! So will you have to get behind the walls afterwards to treat the mold and damage there? What do people do about that?
Hi Madeleine! I totally wouldn’t get rid of the Euro shams. I think they will encourage your guests to linger in bed longer and provide more overall comfort, which, in turn, will allow you to sleep in more. It’s just a thought…
gorgeous results! Though for future you dont paint over anti mold paint otherwise it doesnt work, i learned from doing my bathroom celing in it. stupid really as theres not much colour choice in anti mold paint!🤣
Oh gosh really? Well it was better than nothing haha
Think you've got a leak if your ceilings damp spotted nothing drastic perhaps a leaky slate have a little look
I could never understand folk doing beautiful rooms then a plain white ceiling. I have always done mine the same. Absolutely love the green room and would definitely do the others. Looks finished and cosy big fan looks lovely ❤ xxx
For paint
I would leave the pink room as is
Love what you did in the green room
Your room I almost would go with a lighter blue on top a companion to the blue you chose so it doesn’t feel so much like a lid on a box
Cushions, I like your idea about red the crocheted block that’s a fad it’s going to fade. I would not do that.
I would branch out more look at your local upholstery shops& fabric shops and wait and find a fabric that really speaks to you. Sometimes you can find a local person to do cushions and it’s really not as much as you think.
Also, when you’re in the resale shops look at old draperies, those can be ripped apart and made into fabric that can cover cushions
Thanks for an enjoyable afternoon.
Paint the ceiling blue it will look so cosy i think. Could you get more material to match the curtains for new cushions. Love the green ceiling 😊
Oooh matching would be gorgeous!
😍 so funny you posted this as we just decided to double drench our hall/stairs/landings and my daughter probably going to full drench her sitting-room 👍
It’s the way to go!
I'd go with a fairly dramatic red, for contrast. The pinkish is rather washed-out.
Yeah I was thinking this when looking back at it!
The green room looks so lovely! If you end up keeping the reading cushions maybe try a bolster cushion in front instead of smaller square cushions. This may be me projecting - I'm dying to put a lovely patterned bolster cushion on my bed, lol. ❤
Hehe we have a beautiful bolster from M&S in our bedroom and I love it so much
The green bedroom looks great with the colour-drenched ceiling but I'd be so worried about paint spatter on your wallpaper in the blue room!
Omg I didn’t even consider this
@@MadeleineOliviaYou are a very careful painter though!
