Southern Gunner man, I don't wanna write out the math, but basicly traction is a function of weight and and friction. So, while more surface area increase surface friction. It divides the weight up. So, an unloaded dooly, looses more psi of downward force, than is gains from surface friction. Most if the time.
When a Dodge hooks up, something is moving! I've seen a lot of Dodge farm trucks pull things that will leave you saying no way! I never bet against a Dodge.
Torques “harder”...that’s a new one. Son, I reckon you’ve never been to a truck pull before. Cummins runs the show big boy...it’s called torque. Inline 6’s produce more than V8’s all day long.
It's all about traction and weight people. Both Cummins and Duramax can pull whatever but its about having that traction and how heavy something is, even how much resistance your pulling against is a factor. It's called physics. but I will say Cummins all the way 💪🏻.
Kevin Noll a four wheeler is not weight at all for that engine. The test needed to be more accurate hd vs hd dually vs dually plain and simple. The result of that was inconclusive
This video doesn't even compare the 2. Each motor is in a completly different state and task. But obviously, Cummins is better. 6 in a row ur ready to tow... 8 in a V, ya probobly sit down to pee.
Cummins is a specialized engine company. They specialize in making engines, not anything else. Reliability wise, Cummins comes out on top. Plus, the engines, transmissions, tires and differentials (drivetrains) were all different, so this video proves nothing. Cummins is king! (Their engines are out in all sorts of things like trains, boats, trucks, semis and even planes! The list goes on)
Frank The Tank fuel efficient but hall more tf? u dumb asf bro its used in construction vehicles including forklifts bro duramax is like for regular pickup trucks cummins is like a Power House (not a PowerJoke)
Even though I've had them all and I'm not biased I have to say that sometimes it's not the power of the engine but it's the traction that you can actually put to the ground. That definitely varies from situation to situation
First thing I noticed when the Duramax was pulling the Hogan semi in the snow was the semi driver didn't have his drive axle interlock engaged, which would have sent power to both drive axles. The Duramax was able to overcome that handicap to "git 'er done". BTW, I'm more of a fan of Cummins power plants so these kudos to Duramax (and the skill of the driver) should carry SOME weight. lol

I just think this whole video is biased and stupid, like you're comparing a cummins pulling a jeep that's completely stuck in mud to a dmax pulling a semi in some snow. Mud is by far the hardest thing to get out of even though the jeep is much lighter the resistance is greater
Khenan Bedingfield you are totally fucking stupid the Cummins had hard ground to get traction while the Duramax was pulling on ice and snow ...so you have a Duramax pulling a semi that wieghs 50k lbs plus on ice and snow vs a Cummins on hard ground pulling a 4,000 lbs Jeep out of mud...it's common sense ...it's free use it

The only true test is to have similar trucks make passes towing or pulling the same thing. Too many other variables otherwise, (traction, truck weight, dually vs single rear, etc) On paper, the specs show Cummins a clear winner. Customer satisfaction for customers who have owned both, leans more to the Cummins. Both the Duramax and Cummins are exceptional light truck engines but the Cummins is still top of the heap.

@5:09 you can’t even use that as a knock on Chevy, the dodge is a duality, the dual tires in the back (the drive tires) are making more contact with the ground then the Chevy. This makes it an unfair advantage
Lol I have two 7.3 diesels. One time pulled a 15k lbs trailer with concrete from like a small hole...at idle. I just wanted to take it easy and not brake something so i just put it in D and waited to see how much throttle i should give it. The truck started moving and it kept going by itself till it got out. I was like...stunned. Also, it spins the tires, on wet, even at 25-35 mph if you do a kick down. I use Liqui Molly injection cleaners every 3-5 months though. It really really helps. The 7.3 are not as fast as a Cummings, but more lively than a duramax. My opinion.
I've had them all, 12 valve, 24 valve, old Duramax, newer Duramax, 6.2, 6.5, Detroit's, caterpillars, Ford Brazilian inline 6 and the IH 7.3 and 6.9 and everything else, it all comes down to gearing, weight placement, tires, situation and dumb luck 99% of the time, one of the best puller I ever had was a 70 gmc K20 with a 292 straight 6 and a 4spd manual, may only do 50 on the highway but it would pull a house down
All you Dodge fan boys need to shut up. The rams have death wobble just like jeeps and fords. Apparently none of you remember the cummins 1st gen dowel pin of death and the 2nd gens blocks that cracked. It's a sad day when the only good auto transmission that will live behind a cummins is a Japanese transmission.
Long-dong Von Braun and you thing chevy doesnt fuck up? Yeah right thats why they have been bankrup multiple times and seek government aid every truck messes up depends on how you take care of it
martin rodriguez you don't think Chrysler has been bailed out by the government? Now fucking Fiat owns the great Chrysler corporation, dipshit. Pretty shitty when a European company owns an American company.
Cheaper and more affordable or otherwise best selling because it's cheaper not better every vid I see duramax gets pulled or has trouble , duramax main competitor is powerstroke Cummins have always proven to be stronger
Chevy obviously one they pulled three semi trucks out in all the Duramax to do is pull a single wide that wasn't stuck and stumps out of the ground and their semi-truck for stuck like hell
swagbucksman34 this was a very poorly set up video for trying to be equal in the circumstances lol the tests need to be the exact same for you to be able to tell which one is better 😂 keep thinking duramax is better though that's your choice
swagbucksman34 um watched a Cummings pull a semi out of the ditch sunk Cummings has always been better than chevy and for has always been Better than dodge or chevy👌
The last one is the reason that powderchokes (powerstroke) are sinking and not floating and are a waste of steel and metal. DIRTYMAX (my favorite) and Cummins are the best at work and play and reliable.
The Cummins is over all the better engine but the Duramax has the Allison transmission which is probably the best transmission when it comes to diesels.
Chevy guy but gotta give it to Cummins. Make some sold trucks but Duramax will always beat all diesels with the Allison Trans. Powerstoke or Cummins Transmissions are shit compared to a Allison trans hands down. But towing, I’ll go with Cummins all day but reliable and a daily driver truck is Duramax
Let’s Chevy and Dodge guys not rip each other apart here! We need to focus on the important thing.....ripping the ford guys apart.

Why does everyone hate fords
Because they are jealous of the best
Ford can't run with the BIG DAWGSS
Not as reliable
The dodge pulling the double wide was a gasser I believe

How is a duel wide vs a regular 2500 any fair??

are you sure?😬

False. Double the tires doesn't mean double the traction when they have half as much weight on them.

Fuck off dude. I'm not going to argue with you. Yes make it into a physics, then I suggest you attend it...The tractive effort or force between a car wheel and the surface can be expressed as
F = μt W
= μt m ag (1)
where
F = traction effort or force acting on the wheel from the surface (N, lbf)
μt = adhesion coefficient between the wheel and the surface
W = weight or vertical force between wheel and surface (N, lbf))
m = mass on the wheel
So a reduction in WEIGHT results in a reduction of TRACTIVE EFFORT (traction). Get it now. Bye.

Long-dong Von Braun I couldn't have said it any better 💯💯. Chevy is best
Justin Blain pretty bold accusations there kid. I'd love to see your "team" come say that to my face, bitchass!
Long-dong Von Braun I have a 1st gen cummins and it's never had a death wobble
0:59 to 1:07 me when I see a line of diesel trucks rollingcoal on protesters
The Chevrolet Silverado duramax is the best truck on the market so don't hand me this dodge duly crap
They are both incredible machines and both have their ups and downs.
Cheaper and more affordable or otherwise best selling because it's cheaper not better every vid I see duramax gets pulled or has trouble , duramax main competitor is powerstroke Cummins have always proven to be stronger
Powerstroke vs duramax would have been a better comparison
Actually Chevrolet makes the strongest and longest lasting trucks on the market
that's a pretty good joke
Of course the Cummins is gonna win that tug of war, it's a dually vs a srw
Duramax is the best
Nick Robinson there both made by GM 😆
ItzSyke HD how dumb are you? They are not both made by GM. One American the other is Japanese. The Duramax is a Japanese motor, it's made by Isuzu.
Clay Luschen and there both shit
Nick Robinson yeh
Yeah made in the us not Japan
The dodge pulling the single wide is a gas btw...
Chevy obviously one they pulled three semi trucks out in all the Duramax to do is pull a single wide that wasn't stuck and stumps out of the ground and their semi-truck for stuck like hell
swagbucksman34 this was a very poorly set up video for trying to be equal in the circumstances lol the tests need to be the exact same for you to be able to tell which one is better 😂 keep thinking duramax is better though that's your choice
swagbucksman34 Chevy is better!!!!😎
HOLLOWPOINTBULLET chevy sucks
swagbucksman34 um watched a Cummings pull a semi out of the ditch sunk Cummings has always been better than chevy and for has always been Better than dodge or chevy👌
Alex Clakley dodge is Cummings
The last one is the reason that powderchokes (powerstroke) are sinking and not floating and are a waste of steel and metal. DIRTYMAX (my favorite) and Cummins are the best at work and play and reliable.
Dodge sucks. Its all about the DirtyMax
The Cummins is over all the better engine but the Duramax has the Allison transmission which is probably the best transmission when it comes to diesels.
DURAMAX
The EPA is watching this with a money hungry grin on their face. 👀👀🤑🤑
Chevy
D-Max fanboy here but I do have to say for Dodge to get the same HP & TQ out of an inline 6 vs an 8 is impressive. Until that L5P came along.
2500 l5p is more powerful than 2500 6.7 3500 6.7 is more powerful than 3500 l5p
Ford
“My diesel will get 1000000 miles easy”. Dogs the shit out of it, breaks 20 u joints, replaces in two years.
Gmc and Chevy are the only truck brand that work for anything
