    LOVE that i have found you at age 74!!! You are an inspiration to me! I've been an "out of the box gal" all my life.... you make me smile:) PS.. your a fabulous teacher!.. FYI.. I worked in a yarn shop from age 14 and was a dancer (hobby style) ,til my 2 kids brought my life into focus! Now retired with kids that love and appreciate my "style" and creativity... thank you for teaching this old dog "new tricks"... Hugs, GG Babs

    What you create with yarn and needle just blows my mind each time you come up with a new design. Structurally this one reminds me of an architect sketching out a layout - only you use needle and thread instead of a pencil. What an ingenious twist to regular chevrons. Seriously - you’re gonna improve so many people’s game when it comes to knitting by giving them the knowledge and confidence to break out of their comfort zone. Read your other comment about making more of these instructional videos so just wanted to say thanks for giving us something great to look forward to in 2021. You totally changed my outlook about knitting during the months of lockdown these past months. I live in Seoul and there is an art district in Insa dong where a lot of traditional artwork is displayed in small museums. I used to think what the artisans embroidered on the King and Queen’s gowns during the Joseon dynasty were amazing, but boy howdy your work could stand right beside them. You’ve elevated knitting to a whole new level of artwork. Can’t believe how generous you’ve been to share your time and know-how with the fiber world. Thank you so much and keep up the great work. Happy new year ^^

    Thank your for making these tutorials. Your patterns are beautiful and intimidating to a newbie knitter. However, with your tutorials I am more confident that I can make your shawls.

    Has anyone else noticed that when you watch "man-hands" knit, it always looks effortless, not unlike watching Jimmy Page play the guitar. By comparison, our smaller "lady-hands" look like we are working harder and maybe even a bit awkward ? Perhaps it's just me. I noticed that you have your index finger Way up there and just swinging' that yarn easily, even on the Purls!! I think I need to work on my Cont. knitting technique :) Thank you so much for this video, I cannot wait until my Hot Pink yarns show up so I can get started on this !!! In the meantime, I think I'll practice my technique a bit with some scraps (fingering weight is something I have used almost Never) of sport weight yarn. Thank you again for this video and for the Phenomenal Hiberknitalong !!

    You are such a great teacher! For me it's a challenge to knit changing colors, I'm not usted to it nor liked it either but my goal this year is to try and learn tricks. I tried to knit the winter lights but it was too much for me now... But this one got me! My shawl is far from being perfect but I'm enjoyining it very much. Your work is fab!

    You’re not only a great designer but you’re also a fabulous instructor. Do you have a favorite yarn brand and base for your shawls? I know the weight matters around my neck so I tend to go to woolen spun fingering weight. I prefer my shawls light in weight. I’m just curious what you prefer?

    • @StephenWest
      @StephenWest  3 года назад +3

      Thank you! I'm really obsessed with Qing Fibre Melted Baby Suri Alpaca for fluffy accents in my shawls. It makes a very light and fluffy fabric. I'm also a big fan of Undercover Otter Squirm yarn. It's very bouncy and lightweight (fingering weight). it comes in so many fabulous colorways too from solid to multi-colored tones.
