These Black Series retrospectives are initially how I discovered this channel so it’s always a treat when a new episode came out! I recall when Jango came out, I wasn’t big on collecting BS yet (was still riding that old dying Vintage Collection wave) but seeing a recognizable face on the shelf made him an instant grab and I think he was actually one of my first ten Black Series figures.

Jango was one of my favs growing up and playing Bounty Hunter increased it. I was so happy when that figure came out; for the time it was good. That being said, we badly need a retooled one. Can’t sit for the next round when you move into the sea of figures that is the Rogue One waves!

Also, I want Hasbro to redo that Shadow Squadron set with new sculpts. Would be so much better!

S'Up Nate & Justin. I just got done watching your video of the 2016 SW Black Series 6inch figures from Jango Fett to the Captain Phasma from Episodes VII to IX. And to let you guys know that the 2-Pack of Chewbacca & C-3PO(with removable limbs) is very hard to find unless you can find it at a flea market or a Vintage Toy Store in your town for a good price. Also when you guys were talking about the re-issues of certain 6inch SW Black Series Figures that are supposed to be coming out in September or October, there's only 2 droids that I need to go with my Dr. Aphra figures(since I already have the 3.75 3-Pack of them) is Triple Zero & BT-1 (BEE TEE). Plus I also need to try to get Captain Rex & a new updated Clone Commader Wolf as well both versions of The Bad Batch's "Crosshair" figures. I may get a Plo Koon & Ki-Ai Munday Jedi Knight figures someday too. But there are lots of Clone Troopers(different Squadrons) as well SandTroopers, Scout Troopers, Tie Fighter Pilots & Storm Troopers (besides Han & 2 Luke figures in disguise) who I also need in the long run. And I also need to find Bossk as well IG-11 & IG-88 as well 4-LOM & Zuckuss to add to my Bouty Hunter collection. Ah, yes..Jango at release was so good. Much like Pre Vizla....they look really good, but do not hold up to current criteria of the line.
I agree on the memory aspect. The red boxes where still new and felt fancy and the overall joy at the time from the force awakens just really amped up collecting the line for me during this time frame.
Awesome FIO episode guys. Thanks for sharing this retrospectives. As a long time collector its always fun to revisit this era with others like you guys who got to experience it as well.
Crazy to think at one point we thought the red/black box was fresh! Now I look at it and all it brings is "oh that's a peg-warmer." Appreciate you checking out the video as always, Fig! Have an excellent weekend, my dude. -Justin
I was as hype for Awakens as I was Menace. Both are awkward but have entertaining elements. Visually very interesting. If Hasbro made Captain Sidon now, it sells well. Awakens was at least hinting at potential. Then Glass of Onion half empty happened. I liked Finn. He and Poe and Rey seemed to have a chemistry. I wish they were given a chance to realize it. Their story was told apart more than together. It’s a shame. Figure wise I ate it up. I still have a large amount of Sequel figures. Even as bad figures their designs resonated with me. I don’t remember seeing Jango as a glimmer of hope. It was an ok figure then that hasn’t aged well. His holster and guns were cool.
Sidon Ithano would be awesome! I loved Finn in TFA, I hate that he was downgraded to comedic relief in the subsequent films. The idea of a Stormtrooper turning rogue is awesome. -Justin
I'm not having this "Dark Ages" shite about this time in the line! This is literally the best time the Black Series ever had!! A: I started to collect it at this point, and B: There was actually figures in shops in England!! ToysRuss had them everywhere and I managed to get my first BS figure, FN-2187 in an English grocery store-Tesco!! I genuinely cannot say a bad word about this period. It was a GREAT time to be alive and starting to collect! I think my second figgy was the Flame-O? It only got better as the Red/Black box line continued with Rogue One!!
AND.... I still love my Mango Jango figure!! I don't think he's ever fallen over and he still looks absolutely BAD AF to this day in the simple Gunslinger pose I have him in!

This is just right before I started collecting. It was definitely a more challenging time with few gems of hope. It’s just hard to fathom how far we’ve come. Absolutely loving the retrospective series!

I was originally a "COVID collector" so I wasn't around for this era but I did end up buying most of these sequel/R1/Solo figures that came out in that time period when I first started collecting in 2020. Most of them were still available on Amazon for less than retail at that time; or eBay. I don't display ST stuff anymore; except for one shelf of troopers. Oddly enough I never got that flame trooper. I would love them to do any entirely new updated FO stormtrooper as I actually really dig that trooper design. I have the photo real gaming greats release of Jango in my display still .. hope he gets a do over soon too.

Its amazing how figures went from looking like blown up 3.75" figures to rivaling SH Figuarts in some cases. Hasbro really stepped it up.

Why are all of the Solo movie figures some of the best Black Series figures ever made? I just bought a couple Molochs are those figures are fantastic!

I saw the notification yesterday about Rex and Fox very late so the Rex's preorder was sold out but I did manage to get Fox pre-ordered for myself. I'm hopeful that Rex will go for sale again at some point.
I really want the Shadow Squadron set if Hasbro rereleases it, I might get two of them.
I still have all of my sequel trilogy figures. I got that Han Solo and got the Archive Han Solo as a gift, looks so much better. The First Order Flame Trooper still looks good as a trooper figure and I've got both versions of Phasma, she could have looked better with the carbonized paint like the silver Stormtrooper figure.

Another fun look back at an older wave. I still have a few of my ST figures - mostly troopers - but I'm very close to purging most of the last of them, cos I badly need space for much better figures.

I found a knockoff ShFiguarts Jango for 30 bucks at a comic shop, all accessories included and even for a knockoff it’s miles ahead of this jango. Great vid dudes :)

The dark times!!!! We have it so much better now I DO NOT miss that hot mess gummy plastic and horrible paint apps from that era. I was sorting figs and found my X-wing pilot Poe with melting face and the first Rey with doll face paint and remember being so excited to find them at the time as they were rather hard to find, pretty sure I picked these up at Walgreens.

Agree on the Shadow and SDCC Thrawn for grails for me personally. The other one I had was the Emperor Throne set. I wasn’t collecting very much when he released. Thankfully I snagged the rerelease.

10:33 I gotta admit, that picture you guys put up of the FO Flametrooper was pretty bad a$$. 😁. Other than that, these ST figures are all forgettable. I still have all my ST figures crammed on the bottom of my bookshelves where they’re hard to look at, but soon I’ll run out of space and will box them all up. I don't know why they don't just recolor the ROTJ Boba for a Jango figure with an arm blade and the two jatpacks and such, it's an easy and cheap way to justify a deluxe figure price tag.

Except Jango (who is responsible for 33% of my figures falls.) This is all pre my collecting day of Black Series. If they read made a lot of these to current specs I would probably buy them. I enjoy this sub video line. Keep up the good work guys.

I am proud to say I only own Dark Rey, no other Sequel Trilogy figures. I cut off her dumb plastic gown part and I keep her light saber separate into 2 at all times.
Seriously her stupid folding saber is just one thing in a laundry list of dumb things about The Rise of Skywalker, still...I accept those "films" as Canon...reluctantly. MORE HARMONICA! DEW IT! ♥

I agree. Terrible writing really messed up the ST. But I will admit that I have a soft spot for the FO troopers. They may have been wasted in the movies, but at least they look cool.
I'd honestly be down for them to do a FO Stormtrooper on the same level as the 2023 Clone Trooper sculpt. -Justin

A few months ago I purchased a single lot of st era figures I got like 25 figures for 60 bucks, definitely worth it imo since I missed out on pretty much all, gotta say nostalgia does hit me even though most of them are hot garbage haha. Definitely can’t wait for the next episode boys! I still get shocked about some of these waves since i started collecting near the end of the red and black box era! Keep up the great work!

It was the dark times for articulation,i would be happy for all of those figs to get re tooling to the standard now,i am a OT kid & the OT will always be the way for me, but I kinda like the sequels so it would be nice to get updates on those figs, tbh honest I prefer watching the sequel trilogy than the prequel trilogy,i always fast forward the prequel trilogy to the best bits & the sequels are proper live action sets, no cartoon back ground Iike the prequels lol just my opion,great show as always, keep up the great shows

It's kind of duchy that you would try and sell that Chewbacca set in the first place (unless Hasbro fired your ass I suppose) and the other set Imperial Shadow Squadron the two I managed to find 420 bucks on Ebay and on StockX for 637 Aussie dollars would have bought it if it was any decent price. Red Boxes I think only if character has helmet on I can buy even though I don't actually have Jango in my collection kind of can't decide which one to get the red box one or gaming greats? Also in same dilemma for Rey since only one I have is Dark Side ,which version would you guy's recommend?

I still love The Force Awakens even though TLJ & ROS were such huge disappointments. TFA was so much fun & brought back the magic of Star Wars.
It kinda just makes me dislike those two more that they couldn’t properly build upon TFA’s setup. Instead of hating TFA because its sequels fucked things up.
