My thoughts Exactly! The Willy Nelson part was brilliant too. His reaction to Colbert singing "Blue Eyes Singing In The Rain" was painfully honest & hilarious. Watching them turn a potential awkward moment into great stories was priceless.
Ethan Hawke just won the Colbert Questionaire.... Not only did he answer the best at the end, he also is the first to guess what number Colbert was thinking of....I mean, damn...he won if there was a winner.
Questionert is Stephen’s absolute best ‘extra’ segment by far. The most interesting part that he didn’t deny the number he was thinking for the first time
This is my favorite segment when guests treat the questions seriously like Mr. Hawke did. I've sprang some of these questions on my friends a few times, and it always leads to good conversation.
Talking to open, nice, intelligent people is one of the most underrated, most rewarding activities out there if you ask me. Hawke seems like one of those people you go to a bar with or invite to dinner and when you first glance at the clock it's your 12th drink and it's already late at night.
Ethan Hawke said the number that i've been thinking it was since the first Colbert Questionaire. And the fact that Stephen for the first time didn't deny it, probably means it's right.
Ethan wins the questionnaire!! His answers were awesome and honest and even threw Stephen a curve .. first time anyone has not been told no on the number question 🤷🏼♀️🤣
This may just be the best Colbert Questionert that I have seen! I have always been an Ethan Hawke and his answers were just what I hoped for! What an amazing person.
Wow, that was my favorite Questionert to date! I already love Ethan Hawke anyway, have for 3 decades. His answers were so great! "Instagram, it's like being in a coma." So true. Also, his last answer was truly the best, one I would use myself.
I see Ethan in a suprisingly more fun way than I ever did before after this. Im a casual fan so not all stalker when it comes to my favorite actors but this was a good dive into his personality. Thank you Colbert 😊
The smile I got when he turned around to count on his fingers. I have loved Ethan since Explorers and he is my answer when someone asks who would you like to have dinner with. Such an interesting and cool guy and will always be easy on the eyes. Love him so much.
I know nothing about this guy, but that was the best answer(so far) to the last question. And Stephen's description of Willie Nelson's guitar playing was spot on.
What a legend 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️ Ethan hawk wow thank you sir ❤️❤️ the white fang reference..saw it on the movies as a child, still love it as an adult 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ the Alaskan malamute hybrid JED was such a beautiful dog 1977-1995 ❤️❤️❤️❤️
When he mentioned White Fang ❤that is when I first fell in love with Ethan Hawke. I haven't thought about that movie in years. I swoon just thinking about him in that one lol.
It's true, we as a society are addicted to our phones. And I know I'm not attached to mine, but I am on it an awful lot. But something I hate, is when I'm with someone, and they are playing with their phone the whole time!
As soon as Stephen asked the song question, I thought, "Willie Nelson singing Kris Kristofferson's 'Loving Her Was Easier'," so I got a kick out of Ethan's answer... and I totally agree about Willie's timing, and the way he swoops back in to hit certain marks. _Nobody_ sings like Willie.
They had just concluded a discussion about Willie Nelson and smoking dope, so the number Colbert was thinking of was likely the one that Willie rolled for him on the bus. [edit] Regardless of how good or bad Stephen's singing was, I was amazed at how bang-on his impression of Willie's voice was.
It wasn't until after I'd seen Willie live for the seventh time, I think, that - when I was driving home from the concert - I really came to appreciate Trigger's unique sound for the very first time. All at once, I got it.
I didn't have to wait for his answer to the cat vs dog question. Of course it's dogs. Ethan is the definition of a dog guy. Actually, Ethan is a dog spirit in human form. If reincarnation is real, Ethan was a golden retriever in his previous life.
Truly the best Questionert ever. His response to the "afterlife" one. Killing Stephen on the number. Golden. Thanks Ethan.
How do you only have 152 likes?! Your comment is perfect! I was laughing through the entire segment...loved it!
that was the greatest!
I solidly 👍 he's beautiful
My thoughts Exactly! The Willy Nelson part was brilliant too. His reaction to Colbert singing "Blue Eyes Singing In The Rain" was painfully honest & hilarious. Watching them turn a potential awkward moment into great stories was priceless.
Ethan Hawke just won the Colbert Questionaire.... Not only did he answer the best at the end, he also is the first to guess what number Colbert was thinking of....I mean, damn...he won if there was a winner.
You're not wrong Jack 🏆
Hold on. He actually got that? Cuz Steve didn’t technically say no…
@@Mendeljew Exactly he didn’t say “no”
He's not the first to guess it.
Plus his complete honesty about his love for Willie Nelson, and innocently stabbing Stephen in the heart when commenting on Stephen's singing!
I can't help smiling all the way through an Ethan Hawk interview. He is a whole and magnificent human being.
“Being on instagram is like being in a coma” best analogy ive heard. This guy is awesome
@Ethan Hawke are you the real Ethan Hawke? I was watching from Southern California
@seelluv he is an awesome man. Just wait til you see what an awesome actor he is, too. 😉
Questionert is Stephen’s absolute best ‘extra’ segment by far. The most interesting part that he didn’t deny the number he was thinking for the first time
“You’re not being unfair, I’m just learning more than I wanted to.” That’s a keen perspective on life sometimes.
Ethan Hawke and Keanu Reeves had legendary answers on this bit... no surprise though, both are completely transparent and very deep thinkers.
Ethan really thought this was a real thing. Steven and Ethan have a great rapport. This was pure gold! Thanks guys.
The most intelligent guest to do this with Stephen, just fantastic!!
"He does that a little better"... That landed so hard and had me CACKLING so hard that I started the cat.
This is my favorite segment when guests treat the questions seriously like Mr. Hawke did. I've sprang some of these questions on my friends a few times, and it always leads to good conversation.
always!!
Talking to open, nice, intelligent people is one of the most underrated, most rewarding activities out there if you ask me.
Hawke seems like one of those people you go to a bar with or invite to dinner and when you first glance at the clock it's your 12th drink and it's already late at night.
I've done this with a friend too.
I don't know why this interview made me so emotional, but I really enjoy their candour and friendship.
Now that's what authenticity looks like.
Definitely one of my favorite actors. I watch almost every movie he stars in. Freaking genius!
Love to hear Stephen's genuine laughs and giggles :)
Ethan Hawke said the number that i've been thinking it was since the first Colbert Questionaire. And the fact that Stephen for the first time didn't deny it, probably means it's right.
With Meryl Streep she also said 3 and he also didn't say no
I just about started sobbing when he said, "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain!"
I love seeing these two so chill and authentic. Less ego than usual. So refreshing.
I'll confess I got a bit giddy when he mentioned his role in White Fang. Made my heart sing.
This is one of the best talk show appearances of all time.
Yea
he is just such a genuine, nice person...he just seems like a golden retriever, so loving and kind and cute
I was thinking terrier of some sort. Goes after it, won't let go, and a little scraggly--in a good way :).
This is by far my most favourite Questionert ever.
The rest of your life in five words:
"Better. Than. The. First. Half."
Wait, why am I crying?
The. Best. Colbert. Questionert. Ever.
That response made me choke up too, which also caught me off guard.
I really loved Colbert's reaction when he finished the last word.
Always love to hear Ethan tell stories. Besides acting, directing movies, writing novels, maybe he can create a podcast show.
Check out his recent episode on Smartless, it's great!
..and just like that, 15 minutes of tv perfection. Man. I’ll be ok now.
If Doctor Who ever cast an American Doctor I'd love to see Hawke's take.
I've never been a fan of Dr. Who but I would watch that!
@@Merakis100 same 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This is a brilliant idea.
It's the first time Stephen didn't deny what number he was thinking of.
Stumped!
Let that be a lesson to all future questionnaire takers.
We now know his number is 3!
He guessed it! Very well done Mr Hawke
The secret is he's not thinking of a number!
*Meryl Streep*
This man is such a great human being . Love this guy .
Ethan Hawke is an amazing, beautiful human being. Always brilliant with Stephen. Love his reply to the "die" question.....deep!
His answer about the phone was perfect too as well as the afterlife question!!
I have experienced a moment of genuine thoughtfulness. I appreciate everything done to make this happen. Pure light.
This has got to be the best one yet.
"It's like being put into a coma" killed me
And he’s absolutely correct, he perfectly defined what it feels to waste hours and hours of your life watching something that you instantly forget.
Absolutely compelling interview. Hands down.
I'm honestly surprised that not a single Colbert questionert answerer has guessed 42
thank you for that comment...
Me too… I have been waiting for that day ever since.
Hopefully one day, a sci fi nerd will answer it with 42.
I've always thought it might be 111. For Bilbo's birthday
I don't think anyone has answered 69 either🤔 Even Keanu Reeves? lol
😂🤣🤣
His expressions really reveal how impacted he is by the judgement of others. I iked it, he went with it.
One of the best!! I loved that he got your number😂. Plus, I thought the Willie imitation was great 😂❤️
Ethan is such a nice and chill dude, very introspective
That is the best questionnaire yet! Such a cool guest, his answers and the whole interplay.
This was the best one yet. Ethan Hawke seems like such a good guy. He needs to put that phone down, though. Sheesh!
Wow, I’ve never seen Stephen Colbert NOT answer directly to anyone trying to guess what number he was thinking of!!!
I noted the same thing. He always says "no"
one of the best questionerts. I could just listen to their conversation for an hour.
He's so intelligent and so relatable, which makes you feel smart for relating to him.
Jon Batiste was awesome at the questions. Ethan took the cake. Ethan was just as deep as Jon. Great on him. I enjoyed.
I didn’t think that some one could ace this questionnaire but clearly Ethan Hawke did.
This was pure gold on every level🥇! Thank you Stephen and Ethan💖💝
Better than the first half....very inspiring answer.
So true, I love that!
Few actors are as authentic as Ethan Hawke.
I've really appreciated this segment--so many fascinating responses (and some not so.) Ethan *nailed* it. ❤
What a genuine and real interview, this was the best one so far. Please please keep doing these
What a delightful interview!
Now the was a deeper dive than I expected. Awesome!
Wow, that was my favorite Questionert to date! I already love Ethan Hawke anyway, have for 3 decades. His answers were so great! "Instagram, it's like being in a coma." So true. Also, his last answer was truly the best, one I would use myself.
i adore this segment, and i think the guests do as well.
I’ve really enjoyed the Colbert Questionert, and this is one of the most interesting ones so far.
ETHAN got the NUMBER!! WOW, 3! BLESSED 🐝...( ALSO rhymes with three!)
I've always liked Ethan! What a truly talented, humble and intelligent man!❤️❤️
I see Ethan in a suprisingly more fun way than I ever did before after this.
Oh man! Really like him more after this interview. Excellent connection between you two.
I know nothing about this guy, but that was the best answer(so far) to the last question. And Stephen's description of Willie Nelson's guitar playing was spot on.
Better than the first half. Great answer
One of the most gorgeous celebs on Hollywood!
I love Ethan. A real dude. No BS.
One song: Always with Me, Always with You - Joe Satriani.
There is no close second, but I do also love the Willie song.
I watched the movie Alive when I was very young and loved it and still do. Then I saw Gattaca. He is very good at his craft.
i was never a big fan of Ethan Hawke untill now. thank you
That Instagram/phone bit was pretty revealing...and scary...and...the great eater and eraser of time and connection...
Ethan’s funny man! Loved that! He had Colbert in stitches which not many guests can do. 🎉❤
That was pretty cool. Maybe the best Colbert Questionee ever.
I think this is the best Questionert I have seen!! And a two parter, wow!
When he mentioned White Fang ❤that is when I first fell in love with Ethan Hawke. I haven't thought about that movie in years. I swoon just thinking about him in that one lol.
I honestly guessed Ethan was going to guess 3. 😳
Ethan Hawk is such a lovely intelligent honest person. He is so fun: gosh I love bears. 😂 he is so neat. Better than the first Half! 🤣
It's true, we as a society are addicted to our phones. And I know I'm not attached to mine, but I am on it an awful lot. But something I hate, is when I'm with someone, and they are playing with their phone the whole time!
Best questionert, hands down. Definitely worthy of the two-parter
i love how relatable and human Ethan is. He is truly "known" now. Great guy.
Ethan, Jeff Bridges, and Josh Brolin look so much alike they could play brothers in a movie
That would be a bad-ass movie
If you put jeff bridges on that list you have to add kurt Russell
As soon as Stephen asked the song question, I thought, "Willie Nelson singing Kris Kristofferson's 'Loving Her Was Easier'," so I got a kick out of Ethan's answer... and I totally agree about Willie's timing, and the way he swoops back in to hit certain marks. _Nobody_ sings like Willie.
I love him so much it makes me cry.
I always thought Ethan was a good actor but what you said is True! I know him so much better and LOVE him now😊❤️
He got me with Willie. A charmer.
I want - no, I demand - a Willie Nelson biopic with Ethan as Willie. Make it happen, Hollywood!
"I love bears" :D
This may be the best one yet 😁
I love you Ethan hawk and blue eyes crying in the rain is one of my favorites too.
It wasn't until after I'd seen Willie live for the seventh time, I think, that - when I was driving home from the concert - I really came to appreciate Trigger's unique sound for the very first time. All at once, I got it.
Starting today with this. Great start. Gonna go play some Willy Nelson now, good times Ethan U dude. 🙏🏾
I didn't have to wait for his answer to the cat vs dog question. Of course it's dogs. Ethan is the definition of a dog guy. Actually, Ethan is a dog spirit in human form. If reincarnation is real, Ethan was a golden retriever in his previous life.
This is my favourite segment of the late show (apart from tooning out the news which I'm delighted to see is back) but this is the best one by far
Just fantastic! I am now a fan of Ethan Hawke the man and I think Colbert did a great Willie Nelson impression!!!
MAN he would be so fun to just hang with. great answers (and reasons for the answers).
Best questionnaire video I have seen
that Roast was brutal hahahaha
I like him better now than I did before the Questionert.
I agree, this is the best questionnaire yet! Jeff Goldblum is right up there though!
