- There were two signs at the park, one read no overnight parking, the other read overnight parking with permission only. We thought we did the right thing by asking permission from the sargent on duty, but it turns out he had no authority to give us permission to stay overnight. Lesson learned, always get something in writing or just move on.

As a former cop please know that if the shift supervisor (sergeant) gives you permission, you cannot be held responsible for any violation. He represents city hall. Therefore, it matters not what the next shift says. The night shift supervisor is on the hook not you.
Looks like a good time. For that pizza stone you can also use quarry tile which you can get from Home Depot the flooring tile at commercial flooring tile and just line your oven rack with them.

I really like your attitude of not trying to cause issues to argument over something that isn't worth arguing over. I mean if they were trying to fine you then yes argue it but being asked to leave even by a rude officer isn't worth ruining your day over or getting all upset. nice handling of the situation.
I think that first sergeant wanted to be nice and because you were already there, and nice people, gave you the ok to stay overnight. Change of shifts, and the guy who works that area comes along, and just doing his job, tells you that you can't camp there. When the first sergeant said, "I'll tell my guys", he forgot to tell the incoming squad. I think it's just a matter of them trying to do their job. I was a dispatcher in a town like that and lots falls through the cracks. Don't take it personally. The guy telling you to leave probably felt bad about it, but just had to tell you about the camping laws, because it's his job. Sorry you all felt put out. It's not fun to get conflicting messages. Glad you're all ok, and got together at Walmart. Moving on.
Since you put your water bottles in the freezer. If you take an old unmatched sock and put it over the bottle, it won't get everything all wet when the ice starts to melt.

Hey, can you all pull together and teach the children stop trshing? The boy in blue shorts threw his water bottle at the root of the tree and kept walking. Children need training and rules.
Its best to just roll with it. The Sargent was promoting his town as a welcoming place. In the best interest of local taxpayers. The patrol cop could of handled it better. You two have fun !

We recycle the bottles...fill with water n freeze...keeps ice chest dry and cold while giving iced drinking water BUT we wash the bottles after each service...works really well when we take gkids to park or swimming...
I envy your lifestyle. I’m about to retire but I have a 15 year old son who is a 4.0 in high school and don’t want to screw that up for him. Oh well, we live in the mountains so it’s all good. Love your group!
A police sergeant won't have the authority to to give permission for a city park. It wouldn't be under police jurisdiction. That would require someone from the park commision if not someone higher. I thought the officer said there was no overparking in the city. If the sign said get permission there should have been contact information included.
The one that said no probably told the supervisor so the person higher in the command could make the decision. People love to blame the cops. When they are just doing what they are supposed to do.
I had that a long time ago.
I drove for a company in a cargo van.
I got to the place for a pickup first thing in morning,late in the afternoon.
Since there were no trucks stops nearby,i asked security guard,who was on duty for company,if I could park in big parking area,overnight,for pickup next morning.
She said fine,no one would bother me.
At around 12 am I was woke up by other security cops who were on next shift.
They said I couldn't stay and that the other lady was not right to say I could stay.
Even though I showed them I was picking up at their place in morning,and there were no Walmarts or truck stops,near to stay,they insisted I leave,ASAP.
Thus in the middle of night I had to drive 50 miles to truck stop,extra cost in gas and then to come back and got less of a rest then I should have.
Lesson I learned,was that if you ever get special permission like that get it from them who gave it to you in writing with their name etc on it.
And ask them to make sure those who follow them are aware of the situation,so there won't be problems in the middle of the night.
If they won't do that for you,you know it's a gamble not worth taking to take their word and you can plan accordingly.
To many power trips within depts and lack of communication.
Except for that looked like you had great fun.
You guys shouldn't be made to feel like you were doing something wrong at the park. You were given permission to stay there. Glad to see you guys took it all in stride. Take care and safe travels.

Not everyone has authority to give permission on city property. At least you slept there overnight.
The Sergeant is a First Line Supervisor. There are more ranks above Sergeant from Lieutenant to Chief. Not unusual in smaller towns for PD not to know what City Hall is up to.
Just for info, a Sergeant is not in charge on a police department. He has a Lieutenant, a Captain, sometimes a Major and a Chief above him, but you folks handled it right with being respectful.

I'd get bored living in parking lots, with a group of others living in parking lots and hanging in wal mart. I don't even like to go to wal mart once a year let alone live there most the time for a few days here and there of next to a patch of grass.

The spock box got tree whacked at the beginning of the Chopper for Vets video. That's where you were when the dog got lost and found. Also had tree limbs under it when Terri showed the cracks on it while parked in a parking lot.

Get a 32oz nalgeen water bottle. Safer and with a second fill you get your 8 glasses /day plus you can add fresh lemons and other fruit to taste.
Always enjoy your videos..just some info for you about Wal-Mart water fill...I noticed he was using the Primo Water fill that is designed for those 5 gallon jugs and it's priced higher..Many stores, at least here in FL have a separate water fill that is not the inflated Primo brand pricing...just an observation...I love your truck camper set up..also love how accepting you appear to be of the LBTQ community by traveling with a drag queen..Safe travels to all of you guys!!

You are so right, sometimes you come across some great officers and other times.....well, you experienced one of the mild ones. But absolutely best thing to do was just move on, save yourself some headaches. Safe travels guys. I hope to be in Colorado by September.

All these Cities, in every State, need to be more friendly & helpful with overnight RV'ers. These campers bring lots of dollars to your local economies. In Michigan, business's here heavily depend on local economy support, all 4 seasons by Bikers, Hunter's, Fishing, Dirt Biker's & Atv's, People camping, Snowmobiler's, Skier's & sightseer's.
I have now read enough of these examples that retirement in ANY RV anywhere is totally out of the quesrion for me -and its certaily not cheaper than booking ahead with a kitchenette unit in a motel -and driving a sporty pleasurable BMW,AUDI,or even a 30k restomod

Sorry to hear you won't make it to the summer meet up, but when you can't breathe... I'd probably not be able to handle the elevation either. It was easier just to leave.
So nice to see all of you back together. That was a cool place for the kids to have fun. Over all it's great spot to hang out. The city needs to put a better worded sign if you ask me but what do I know.No harm done so we just move on to the next adventure. Loved the video and thanks. What's the biggest group you guys traveled with so far and how long did it take you to find your 1st travel partner
We traveled with Caravan Carolyn and Ausia from Panda Monium from the very beginning and the biggest group was when Ausia invited everyone to Ehrenberg Az just before the RTR 2018
You know they sell fiberglass and resin you can permanently fix it without having to put tape
I’m interested in the oven stone...looking forward to that info. Haven’t cooked in my oven because I was concerned with the heat being uniform. Any tips on cooking in the oven would be appreciated.
Cat Lady on my Amazon list is a bake stone small enough for a toaster oven. (There are other sizes, too). Waiting for it to go on sale. Then I'll jump on it! We keep our pampered chef baking stone in our home oven all the time. Helps cook food evenly.
Some people are just so so rude! The officers in that town need to get their junk figured out. Hope the rest of the trip is better! Sergeant was nice, some officers not so much. I don't think we'll go there on our trip!
We've run into issues with the Colorado LEO's not being clear, and providing two different directions\commands\interpretations of their own laws or ordinances. I have a tendency now to lay low, avoid the LEO's and not create problems in the small towns. More urban areas have a more unified policy\enforcement standards, similar to other large cities and agencies.
I reuse my bottles too!
You can use a reusable bottle that is BPA free snd do the same thing.
That’s what I do and I add lemons to it which helps to detox too. And I use distilled water which is better.
Sounds like you need a new box when you find you that will work for you.

I ( rescued yorkie Bridget) hope to get us back on the road again..back on the road again..local lalalla la.. I actually I rescued my human after her son suddenly died. When you sit so long please do legs squeezes. He was in perfect health so the Coast Guard said as they did his recertification. 3 months later he died pulmonary embolism from sitting on airplane too long. Happens to drivers and passengers but many times note not made of it. Public is not reminded do some leg squeezes when sitting more than 30 minutes or even less! This is my new journey b telling people to save lives. Please tell all your family and friends. He was found resting on couch at home right after flight by his 8 year old only child. Plz spread the word...LEG SQUEEZES . Walking helps. But most ppl sit past the point of possible danger. Thank you so much

A thought for you that might help with the breathing. Goto a Vitamin Shoppe and pickup some 'Cat's Claw' and that per instructions. It makes a huge difference for my lungs. The other thing would be to go down to Denver/Colorado Springs level and spend a few weeks there, then come back up in altitude after a few weeks and you should be adjusted enough for the camp get together.
I lived in Colorado for six years by taking the Cats Claw, it makes a big difference.

RV living is OK but, what about security, health hazards and income? What of offences like robbery etc, is there any safety measures for rv people.
City ordinances overrides the police. The police work for the city.

The Sign said ask for permission and we did and we got permission. End of story and we have moved on.
DestinationOpenRoad ask the city. They really should have put that on the sign. At some walmarts, the manager will tell you it's ok, but if there's a sign, more than likely they city will have you towed.
It would appear that the first seargent was reasonable and understood that anyone who was trouble would not call in to clarify the position, so gave notice that his men would not “police” you during his watch, the day seargent obviously was a “jobs worth” who likes his own authority not questioned, his word is law lol

If the hinges are bad on that carry case on the roof you might be able to pick up piano hinges and use that you might be able to even cut a small piece off for the front there we can drill through the cap to the piano hinge to hold it together and then use your Gorilla tape on top of it.. and for that police officer being snotty I know you won't do it because you're too much of a nice person I would call and say something to the sergeant on duty..
