Love the Glock content, since they haven't been getting much love as of late (for understandable reasons). Sometimes new and shiny isn't the answer for people who take their self-defense seriously. This just proves to me that people prefer reliability and customization is king, not capacity.
AND how difficult reliability is to achieve, we started to take it for granted with Glock being so commonplace and ubiquitous, perhaps there's a growing realization once again of it's uniqueness. Thank you so much for the support, Y T has been demonetizing me recently, this helps
I totally agree, as do a lot of other Glock people. Innovation usually comes at the cost of reliability. And none of the other brands (in over 30 years, I've shot a lot of pistols, and owned a lot of them), I have never had any that I trusted more than boring Glocks. Yes, there are some that have a lot more features, and there are things that I wish Glock would do a little differently. But all in all, I like them like they are. All of my Glocks shoot the same, function the same, and feel the same (even across different sizes in calibers, a Glock is still a Glock). I don't have to retrain, I can keep spare parts and keep the gun running, and have 100% confidence in it working if I ever need it to. I'm not saying there's not other good ones out there, and I do own others, but they all have their places. Some shoot better, some shoot faster, some have more capacity. But 40 years of reliability means something to me when I'm protecting me and my family.
PSA has said the Micro Dagger 15-round polymer G43X/G48 magazine will drop around SHOT Show next month. Of course, the Micro Dagger magazine will be compatible with the OEM polymer magazine release (no aftermarket steel magazine release necessary). If the Micro Dagger magazine proves to be as reliable as an OEM Glock magazine, it will elevate the G43X (and G48) to a whole new level.
Hi Joe, that's another reason I had to get the 43X. I look forward to getting those magazines and a slide when they release. Great to hear from you again sir
That sounds like it might be worth looking into. If it becomes a thing, I would love to know people's thoughts on it. I've shot the Glock 19 and enjoyed it, but I'm unsure if I would be able to carry it concealed since I'm fairly small and it's a bigger gun. IDK.
@@rosemarsili9159 The 43X is very small, the same size as a 43 essentially with a longer grip by about .75". Significantly smaller than a 19 other than the grip length which is the same as a 19
@@LWRoad I'm somewhat intrigued by both the 43X and the 48, although IIRC I might have had trouble racking the 43X whereas I haven't had trouble with the 19 in that regard. I haven't had a chance to get a closer look at the 48 to see if there is a difference with that one, but I do think the longer barrel will help with accuracy (I suspect that's part of why I did pretty good with the P365XL and not its 9mm little brother). I know the 19 is supposed to be the gold standard for a reliable all-purpose/multi-use gun, and I can definitely see why (I'm honestly thinking of saving up for a gen 4 myself, even if I'm not quite sure how I would pull off carrying it IWB just yet). As for the current S15 mags for the 43X and 48, I'm not sold on those yet since I get the impression that they are a mixed bag. But I hope that something does come along to either remedy that or serve as an alternative, since it would be great to have the option of 15 rounds in the smaller Glock if for no other reason than to give us more choices.
Bought my first Glock the other day, G45, then found a smoking deal on a G20…I’ve got the bug now. Strangely enough, the grip angle really works for me. Plan on going to Birchwood this weekend. The 43X MOS is my next purchase.
Great video! Love my 43xMOS. I have it all decked out with shield arms mags/mag release, ameriglo night sites, holosun 407k, streamlight tlr-7sub, talon pro grips, and an apex trigger shoe/connector which made a big difference. My SA mags have been 100% reliable with over 3,000 rounds of all kinds of ammo through them, so I’m pretty happy.
Excellent, thanks for the personal experience feedback. I've heard very good things about the Gen 2 mags so I'm honestly not expecting issues. 3000 rounds is a pretty good indicator I'd say. Thanks for watching
@@pillcosby3949 why not?.. lol, and you answered your own question. To make it how I want it. Glock sights suck. Glock triggers suck. Which is why a lot of people upgrade them.. how new are you to guns?
@@2aTommy ha, I did 2 tours in fallujah my guy. I was asking a simple question about why you have to make so many upgrades to a pistol, when reliability is its single greatest attribute
@@pillcosby3949 I didn’t have to, I don’t have to do anything. I wanted to. Simple as that. I dislike the “dingus” in glock triggers, glock sights are garbage, and the mags started as an experiment for range use just to see if they worked and ran great in my 43x, so why wouldn’t I take the higher capacity? As I said in my OP, I have well over 3,000 rounds without a hiccup. I’m not really worried about reliability, and if at any time it stopped being 100% reliable I would just go back to stock.
The 43x mos is my edc off duty. Love the pistol. My trigger is breaking just under 5 lbs after break in. I have well over 4000 rounds on this pistol. I started with the Shield arms mags but was having way too many type 1 malfunctions. I went back to stock for those reasons. (Yes I had a the steel mag catch installed). And it's so true that Glock will show how good your fundamentals really are. Great point!
I have a p365X, 365 Xmacro and a 43x. pros and cons to each. by far the best is the Macro. all 3 have Holosun 507k's. I had to upgrade the hell out the 43x. Apex trigger and connector, Nightfison sights, shield mags and mag catch. So almost $1100 + to make it "better"! The 365 Macro out of the box with the Holosun is about the same cost with 17 round mags and shoots amazing. You can't beat the modularity of the 365 platform to make it fit you. I ended up taking the Macro slide and putting on the XL grip frame (12 + 1) to carry. Love how it carries and shoots. My G19 is my do all home defense gun, but in the carry world, the 365 platform is hard to beat. I did find that having the shield 15+1 in the 43X got pretty heavy to carry as the day went on. The best carry choice is the one that fits and is easy to carry. All 3 are great choices.
But capacity was what made Glock. Full size guns at the time it was introduced like the Sig P226, Beretta 92 and Smith and Wesson 5906 had 15 round capacities. Sure, there were oddballs like the Steyr GB but weren't successful. Glock's full size had 17. Glock put 15 rounds in a COMPACT size, the G19 when its contemporaries like the P228 and 3906 only had 13. That was innovation and why the G19 was the gold standard for carry for decades. Same with the G22/G23 when .40 was being adopted even beating the round's creator Smith and Wesson to the punch. Then they came out with the G21, a .45 acp pistol that doubled the capacity of a 1911 and Sig P220 but with Glock durability and relibility. Finally the G20, a useful .10 mm pistol with 15 rounds was icing on the cake. But that was all before the year 2000. Now they're falling behind other companies like Sig, Smith, Springfield and Ruger who are putting out micro compacts with more capacity, more features, better ergonomics and equal reliability. Hell, how do you not have a 10+ magazine for your .22 pistol when Sig, Taurus and mf'ing Kel Tec have been able to put out products with double that capacity just a short time after the G44's release. It's almost as if Gaston Glock has turned into Bill Ruger in his old age with a resistance to change.

I was a serious glock hater, swore I would never own one. Until I held the 43x at my local shop. Now it is my edc and ccw. I honestly don't know what you could want that would be a better concealed carry piece. I have the Shield Arms mag (no failures whatsoever, so far) and a stainless steel guide rod. Can't believe I bought a glock :)
Me too. I was never a Glock fan until recently the gen5 23 and 43X came out. 43X is awesome with the addition of Ameriglo sights, McNally trigger, and SA mags/steel mag catch.
Glock 43x is a great gun no doubt! However using aftermarket magazines might very well work out just fine but being in machine mechanics business for most of my life more times than not aftermarket parts don't work out that great.
Love my 43X, and I’m not really a 9mm guy. I just put on Ameriglo sights, McNally trigger, and Shield Arms steel mag catch and 15 round mags. Really improves a great gun with those additions.
I just bought this firearm a few weeks ago at my local shop, they had a $80 off sale. I put some rubber talon grips on mine which helped me with shooting fundamentals.
In regards to the shield arms magazines. I get lots of mixed reviews online from people. A person's experience is not something I can argue with. But I have the 43x, the original with the silver slide up top. I got an aluminum mag release and a couple of shield arms magazines. I have test fired three different types of hollow points and full magazines Plus One in the chamber, and a lot of full metal jackets through the shield arms magazines and I have never had a malfunction. I also rapid fire. Now I did try shield arms magazine extension, which would give you 20 rounds. That issues with that setup malfunctioning on two or three occasions. So now I just use it at the firing range versus self defense. But every time I shoot my 43x I make sure I shoot at least two full mags out of the shield arms magazine. I'm waiting for it to malfunction so I can take it out of my lineup, but it hasn't yet. That's my experience.
I used to run an aluminum mag release with my shield mags, initially I had occasional problems but after a while it became very reliable. In August I found that the steel mags had eroded the aluminum mag catch and wasn't keeping the magazine properly in place so I switch to the shield steel mag catch and now all of my magazines give me consistent failures ☹️ I even bought a new s15 mag to see if maybe my old mags were damaged but even the new one gave me issues, I switched back to the oem mags and mag catch and it's been feeding perfect. I guess I'll just have to stick to oem.
@@asiansrule45 Bummer, running them in a contest on Friday, that'll be the continuation of my testing on them, so far I've had no issues with several mags through the G43X. Appreciate you sharing your personal experience
@@asiansrule45 I'll have to look out for that. Put the majority of ammo through my 43x with the OEM 10 round mags (5 of them). Probably after a thousand rounds I heard about the s15 mags and picked up a couple. Maybe I'll stick to the 10 round mags when I target shoot, that way the aluminum mag catch doesn't wear. Thanks for the heads up
I can't say I wouldn't change anything, the trigger is better but not as nice as my 34 Gen 5, my 43x is not the MOS but that doesn't matter much to me, have the shield 15 round mags, also talon grips pro which is nice for carry and shooting, mostly more range time. Are you going to do anything to yours?
Corn Pop's got a Glawk now? Back in my day, he ran a buncha bad dudes and used a straight razor banged up on the curb and left to rust in a rain barrel.
@@LWRoad my dealer has sold 8 Sig X macros recently, no mention of selling any Glocks. Changing the trigger connector is the first thing I do on every Glock, second mod is the sights. Ghost Army 3.5# connector, Pyramid trigger.
I have the 365 XL Spectre and threaded barrel, didn't care for the longer grip, shorter barrel and crap blowing in my face. Will put Holosun on it soon.
When it goes head to head with the other guns, it should hold it's own pretty well. If you take capacity out of the picture, it will probably finish in the top two or three.
Also I forgot to mention, shield arms makes a magwell widener. Good for getting magazines in faster. But the reason to purchase it is because it improves the grip on this gun by tenfold!
@@LWRoad you won't regret it, it's a life changer. Makes this firearm superior to any subcompact. Replace the sites with night sites, mag well wider, metal mag catch, and s15 mags.
@@darylragland1502 if you had that experience then yes. But my experience testing full metals jackets and three different types of hollow-points I've had zero malfunctions with 15 round shield arms. I did try the extended, the 20 round mag, and that was not reliable. Also there is multiple gun gurus on RUclips as well like honest t outlaw that is shot God only knows how many rounds out of the sheild arms mags and never a malfunction. But if you had a bad experience personally yourself testing these magazines with hundreds of rounds, full metal jackets and hollow points, then I understand your take on them. It's either that or you're just a hater. Although I do go shooting quite often so if I ever do get a malfunction I'll let you know.
I've shot both this and the 48 and thoroughly enjoyed both. Not sure which one would be more concealable. I wonder if the "keel principle" is indeed a thing?
My cousin has a 43X MOS. I Have a G27 GEN 5 With the front serrations. The finish on those guns are beautiful and they shoot Great to me. The finish on my FDE Hellcat is terrible. it's almost like the finish is coming off every time you holster it. for the money I paid. I'm Pissed Off!. I Barely carried anymore. I might be moving over to a 43x MOS.
I think there will be a LOT more renewed interest in it with the Palmetto STate Armory slides and mags coming out for it. Not to say that interest ever waned, it's been strong seller since it was released. Looking forward to competing with it and getting a lot of reps with it and the Shield mags
Are you going to switch the Mag release out? Heard you get better results with a shield mag release when using their mags. The interesting comparison would be the 43x vs 48 does one have more of an advantage since both can take shield mags. That's usually what makes me think if you had equal time on both does one surpass the other
IDK..............I have every glock made and I just love My G17 and G19 the best although my G29 is pretty awesome too The G43X is awesome but something about a full size grip just makes me shoot better, faster Nice video, Regards Pops
Awesome! Trying to change the mag release right now on it to the Shield so right now I hates it! lol. No seriously, it's an amazing little pistol. Good to hear from you @G23
I just bought one last week. The trigger is different than my Gen 3. The sponginess is gone, and there is a hard break, but it is heavier. Shooting it just now it seems the sights are on for 115 grain ammo and striking low on 147. Could just be my inconsistency.
@@LWRoad I think they were the gen 2's. They fed ball ammo ok with a few hiccups but with my carry ammo (Critical Defense) they had FTF's like every other round.
I've heard great things about the G3s, I don't have experience with them, just the GX4. A bunch of guys from Walther went over to Taurus at the beginning of 2020 and really have turned the company around since then.
there is a youtube short out on the micro dagger magazine...STEEL AND POLYMER!!! Sorry for the over excitement, but this will no doubt help sell more 43x's...as you say, it's still the king
Good video! I actually think that the g43x and g48 are the dumbest guns in glocks lineup lol. Pistols that big with only a 10 round OEM mag, no thanks. If only the Shield Arms S15 mags weren't trash, then they would actually be something to look at.
I plan to test them thoroughly, shooting them all winter in competition should be an ultimate test...if I can only get this stupid mag release swapped out, what a terrible design
I have several shield arms mags and have shot about a thousand rounds through them. Not one malfunction. I think maybe the early ones had problems. Replacing the catch with their steel one is a must though
@Mark Tanner I had a g43x mos and a g48 mos both with SA mag catch and 10 S15 mags (5 of each gen). Had 1 or 2 failures during the first 500 rds, but after the mags had more than 500 rds each, that's when the failures really started. Specifically, the round would nose dive under the feed ramp, and I'd have to force strip the mag out. I had more failures with the gen 2 mags. I put a couple thousand rounds through the guns completely stock, and not one hiccup. At this point, considering all the complaints from lots of other users, these mags are not viable for carry.
I really enjoyed the slightly longer content. I’ve not seen the point of this compared to my sig guns but man you are wearing me down, especially with all the sales on the g43x going on….
I bought the 43x solely based off the shield arms mags. I’m lowkey let down by seeing so many negative reviews about the mags (even with the catch release) my other options was the 30sf. But I also wanted to find a reason to go back to get the 30sf 🤣
The square grip actually keeps the pistol from rotating in hand while firing, but I’m guessing u put about 50 rds a year through your p365 which makes u an expert

I'm looking forward to doing that through the rest of this winter, we shall see, thanks for the detailed explanation of your personal experience sir
Thanks for the heads up
@@danemaui8259jn.
I like my 43x, put Mcabo spring kit and lone wolf 3.5 connector, couldn't stand the factory trigger.
Not a fan of the factory trigger either, the weight or the shape / feel. How do you like yours now with that setup, would you change anything or no
I can't say I wouldn't change anything, the trigger is better but not as nice as my 34 Gen 5, my 43x is not the MOS but that doesn't matter much to me, have the shield 15 round mags, also talon grips pro which is nice for carry and shooting, mostly more range time. Are you going to do anything to yours?
Corn Pop's got a Glawk now? Back in my day, he ran a buncha bad dudes and used a straight razor banged up on the curb and left to rust in a rain barrel.
Man the mos 43x is the shit I just wish they would come out with a 40 version and also would have made the 43x hold atleast 12
TOTALLY agree
The Sig P365 X Macro has a comp, better trigger and hold 15 rounds🔫😜
Yep and I have that too! 😎 Porque no los dos?
@@LWRoad my dealer has sold 8 Sig X macros recently, no mention of selling any Glocks. Changing the trigger connector is the first thing I do on every Glock, second mod is the sights. Ghost Army 3.5# connector, Pyramid trigger.
I have the 365 XL Spectre and threaded barrel, didn't care for the longer grip, shorter barrel and crap blowing in my face. Will put Holosun on it soon.
GLOCK 43x ALL DAY 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
When it goes head to head with the other guns, it should hold it's own pretty well. If you take capacity out of the picture, it will probably finish in the top two or three.
Yeah, I've already ordered what I need, +5's from Taran Tactical and an OWB holster for my comp belt, should be really interesting
Also I forgot to mention, shield arms makes a magwell widener. Good for getting magazines in faster. But the reason to purchase it is because it improves the grip on this gun by tenfold!
Interesting, checking it out!
@@LWRoad you won't regret it, it's a life changer. Makes this firearm superior to any subcompact. Replace the sites with night sites, mag well wider, metal mag catch, and s15 mags.
Yeah that's the only thing I kept on my 43x mos from them.
It's probably for stripping the shield mags out that are definitely malfunctioning
Just started carrying one. Love it
You aren't kidding about small guns being harder to shoot. When I first got my Hellcat it was a humbling experience.😂
Especially the Hellcat, that thing is SO snappy, and the dimensions are the smallest of the micros so yeah, I hear you there
My pocket gun is a Ruger Lcp. Very discreet but a pain to shoot.
@@markallen4001from my experienced the LCP should have been called The Stinger. That's how it felt to me!
@@shuumai so light and thin. Some people call it a get off me gun.
The finish is the only thing I hate on my G43X! It's crap like a cheap paintjob.
I've been carrying my 43x since they came out years ago. Haven't found any other pistol I'd rather carry.. yet
Been carrying it since I got it, headed over to Chukes and carrying it.
Thank you 🙏 good information
Appreciate the ongoing support sir
I bought one . I like how it fits in my hand but I can’t stand the trigger . It hurts your finger over time after a few mags .
Yep, the shape and feel of the trigger is very uncomfortable, I noticed that too
Are you going to switch the Mag release out? Heard you get better results with a shield mag release when using their mags. The interesting comparison would be the 43x vs 48 does one have more of an advantage since both can take shield mags. That's usually what makes me think if you had equal time on both does one surpass the other
Switched the mag release out last night for the Shield, they both fit different POU
IDK..............I have every glock made and I just love My G17 and G19 the best although my G29 is pretty awesome too
The G43X is awesome but something about a full size grip just makes me shoot better, faster
Nice video, Regards Pops
I bought the wife a 43x she loves it
Awesome! Trying to change the mag release right now on it to the Shield so right now I hates it! lol. No seriously, it's an amazing little pistol. Good to hear from you @G23
@@LWRoad I have a small set of bent nosed needle nose pliers that I use
Think I'm going to head over to Chuke's, he's changed out that release before, I'm not having any luck with the tools I have
I just bought one last week. The trigger is different than my Gen 3. The sponginess is gone, and there is a hard break, but it is heavier.
Shooting it just now it seems the sights are on for 115 grain ammo and striking low on 147. Could just be my inconsistency.
I would love a single stack g17 where glock makes a magazine just like the shied arms. 17 rounds in a slim g17 with glock factory mags ❤❤❤
I liked the 43X, how it carried, felt, and shot but the s15 mags were a flop for me. Ended up selling it and went back to my G26/P320 x compact
Wonder were those the Gen 1 mags or the Gen 2s?
@@LWRoad I think they were the gen 2's. They fed ball ammo ok with a few hiccups but with my carry ammo (Critical Defense) they had FTF's like every other round.
How do these Glocks compare to Taurus 9mm pistols, the G3 G4 and a G3c, the price on the Taurus pistols is hard to beat.
I've heard great things about the G3s, I don't have experience with them, just the GX4. A bunch of guys from Walther went over to Taurus at the beginning of 2020 and really have turned the company around since then.
Good job.
there is a youtube short out on the micro dagger magazine...STEEL AND POLYMER!!! Sorry for the over excitement, but this will no doubt help sell more 43x's...as you say, it's still the king
Love mine, shirlr mags eun great in gen 2. The gen 1 mags had probles
I've heard that before, very interesting makes sense
great vid.
Thanks @DavidW, Happy New Year!
I deem theeee................... the wizards knife........
43X vs Hellcat Pro.
Nice, Chuke sold his already though =(
I just can’t trust the shield mags with my life 🤷♂️
So what in your enlightened state do you carry oh master of the carry world?
@@robertmcwhinney2061 g19 or p365 xl... but it will be the x macro after I'm done with it lol.
I really enjoyed the slightly longer content. I’ve not seen the point of this compared to my sig guns but man you are wearing me down, especially with all the sales on the g43x going on….
Yeah, and the PSA magazine release coming along with their slide makes it pretty tempting...
I have the Glock 43x, Taurus g3x, the Taurus half the price, CLOSER THAN YOU THINK.
I bought the 43x solely based off the shield arms mags. I’m lowkey let down by seeing so many negative reviews about the mags (even with the catch release) my other options was the 30sf. But I also wanted to find a reason to go back to get the 30sf 🤣
Gotta get the latest SA STEEL catch. I’ve had zero problems. I would put more attention into the guys like me that have had no SA mag problems.
You need to specify that it's the MOS model from Glock
Glock square grip and sloppy chamber to make it more reliable but makes brass unfit for hand loading makes it a non starter for me. Just my opinion.
It is hard on brass, no doubt
The barrel is as loose as the rear wheel bearings on a Subaru 😂
The square grip actually keeps the pistol from rotating in hand while firing, but I’m guessing u put about 50 rds a year through your p365 which makes u an expert
@@melissasmess2773 HA!!!! Ah Subarus, we had the biggest dealership in the US in Anchorage, not sure if that's still the case now. Where Chuke and I grew up it was a common sight to see them with floorboards completely rusted through, body panels coming off, good times

Did you have to change your mag release? A defense carry pistol shouldn't be too light there's nothing wrong with 6 pounds for a carry trigger.
Sig p365 has been the best selling pistols the last 4-5 years
Do you have a data link for that? Looking for more info
I dont own a 43x. But i do own a 43 and a 48 so u know what i can do? 😁 build a glock.
Why yes, yes you can!

This isn't the most popular pistol. The Sig Sauer P365 is the #1 selling micro 9 since it came out.
Not on GunBroker, go look at Gun Genius, P365 is fourth for November, behind even the Glock 19

What makes it great is what makes it suck.....the Glock dingus trigger, plus it being a heavy trigger in such a lite gun. If course it was somebody else that has hi-cap mags to make it respectable......and probably still has plastic sights. Sooooooo many other guns that out-perform Glock. They're living on their reputation instead of being state of the art. Never liked Glock.... still don't , but respect their capabilities.
