- Hey welcome! I hope this video finds you well,
In this video I’m painting a new piece which focuses mainly on the sense of light.
Im talking about how I approached this, and what I had in mind while painting it -
I must say, Light is such a complex subject in which everyday I feel like I’m just starting from scratch haha.
There are many light effects and many ways to paint them, and each scenario and style to their own.
Hoping you enjoy this video and that you find it useful!
Thanks for watching!

Excellent video and great to see the thought process from start to finish. Could you make a video on how you get your reference material? Thanks again,!
Thank you for commenting! I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Essentially I’ve arranged my life in such a way that I’m living close to nature, always, and with the help of my canon camera I was able to collect thousands of reference photos over the years.
It’s a great topic for a video, I’ll write it down for myself!
This is such a beautiful painting. I love contre jour paintings, but never had enough courage to try one myself. In my reference photos, the trees all look a solid black ... Thank you so much for covering this topic. I hope this channel grows!
Thank you for your commenting! Made my day knowing you benefited from this video.
Beautiful
Thank you!
Absolutely mesmerising. I wonder if you teach light and shadow from basics?
Thank you!
This is a very big topic, Steven Zapata has a course on it that was extremely helpful for me.
Let me know if you have any specific question that maybe I can help with!
@@erezpli Thank you for your response. I always wonder how the old masters did lighting so well. Did they ever use references or memorise reflective science in general?
@@iamahib I honestly don’t really know cause I haven’t went into this kind of detail, and it really depends on which old master I guess.
I do know that since the camera got out many did use photos, but also the ones that I looked into really studied nature and sometimes from a very young age, whether it’s landscape or figurative and portraiture.
I bet there are many videos on this topic!
So talented, thank you for sharing this.
Can you please explain why you’re mixing linseed oil with stand oil?
@@m.s6936 Appreciate that thank you!
I mix them together to make it flow better, it’s already “Linseed Stand Oil”, anyways it’s a fairly new practice for me to use this medium.
@ thanks for your response.
Are you using linseed oil or some other oil medium? Very nice painting. Thanks for posting.
@@cdcopley8207 hey there! Thank you for commenting, and for your words.
I am using linseed and stand oil mixture.
