Loving the bookshops. My place of work creaks too. Mostly when I’m on me own and suchlike. I don’t work in a bookshop but there is a library within it. I may sniff the books sometimes
SO MANY British tourists!! I was just there last month and I was surprised to see so many large groups there were. Happy Bookieman is such a treasure! I was also intimidated to actually buy a date with a book at the New English bookshop, but one day I'll just do it haha. I left a book I purchased from the ABC there and the New English Bookshop bookseller was so kind when I came back to find it. Booksellers really are the best!
That used English bookshop looked incredible! Used bookshops are my favourite I'm not doing great. Not enjoying my life right now. But cautiously hopeful I'll be doing better by this time next year. I was supposed to be doing ok by now but life said no. So that's nice Hope you're doing ok and glad you had a fun time in Amsterdam 🙂
For us Dutch it's actually great to have a Waterstones in Amsterdam because since Brexit it has become very expensive to have books from small, independent publishers (Charco, Fitzcarraldo) shipped from UK... Great video btw!

But I'm now in a café and have decided that today is a treating myself day in order to try and soothe the stress and upset
This is such perfect timing! When I planned our trip to The Hague, inspired by your video, we decided to do two days in Amsterdam as well. So several of these shops will go on my to-do-list. I've never been to a Waterstones before, since we don't have them around here. This trip is going to seriously hurt my bank account but it looks like it's more than worth it :D Thank you so much for inspiring this little trip, I can't wait for september to come!

Oh, a fun fact is that ABC also has a book printing service where they'll print your self-published book, get you an ISBN and I believe they may also sell your book in store!

I go to uni in Amsterdam, and I got to say you missed the best bookstore (imo) with Athenaeum on Spui. Also, I never went into the Book Exchange, but I do pass it often when walking from one uni building to another or to Central Station.
I wheeze anytime I hear Amsterdam. My English teacher in middle school mispronounced Amsterdam as Amsterdadam while reading a story out aloud to the class 😂. I remember Amsterdam was written thrice with exclamations, so it came out as- AMSTERDADAM! AMSTERDADAM! AMSTERDADAM! the whole thing still rings in my head 😂😂😂
