I live in São Paulo, Brazil, and my family have a Laguna 2001 2.0 with more than 200.000 Km. We love this car, but unfortuly it's very hard to see others Lagunas here ;-; (sorry guys, my english is rusty :/ )
I drive a Laguna II 2004 1.9 dci. It has almost 200 000 km on the clock and no reliability issues. It's all about the maintenance.
+Pedja Madafaka i've got megane II 2004 1.9 dci with 220.000 km. big problems? electric steering wheel fault (fixed), egr valve replaced, driver window failed but fixed with 0 money spent. light bulbs do seem to go away relatively quickly though. and the regular maintenance (brakes, tires, belts, suspension parts from time to time, filters etc)
nice to hear that, hope you still got your laguna, renault are good cars, i own a mondeo , 2.0 tdci remapend to 160cp and i plan to upgrade to a 2010 laguna or a megane 3
Worst cases were up to 2003 lagunas. After that wasn't so bad, the restyled was even better

450 000 km here. I've only replaced a front sway bar stabilizer link. And I replaced a broken crankcase due to being a moron because I drove it fast on gravel and hit a rock.
The 2002 model had some problems, but the 2006 restyling fixed all of them. I had the 1.9 dci 131 hp.
I now have the Laguna Coupe, and that car is amazing. Only thing that isn't mentioned here, compared to the sedan and especially to Laguna 2, it has quite hard shocks. But it feels like you are on rails in corners.
I got Laguna coupe 2010 so far I cover 200,000 KM I got no major issues besides change the rims and front shoke observe and plan to change the rear soon as well,I got it since 6 years and it was new back then.

I have a 2011 3.5 Litre V6. One thing remarked on as a problem is the card for the keyless entry/starting system. It says that there are problems of the doors not opening if you don't keep your key charged by putting it in the key slot on the dashboard. Firstly, the batteries in the keys are not rechargeable so the slot is not a charger. Secondly I'm still on my original battery in the key which came with the car bought in early 2016 and I never put it in the slot. In any event, when you start up you get a dashboard warning of low battery level in the key, even when it isn't in the slot. However, in the brand new second key that I bought at great expense from a Renault dealer the "Low key battery" warning came up on the dashboard within a few months, even though I had rarely used that key. I would therefore suggest that any problems in this area are with the battery. which I assume had been in the new key since its manufacture (unless the dealer put it in, which I very much doubt). I also had a problem with the dealer's initialisation of the new key. It took them 3 tries to get them working properly (they said that they had to initialise both keys in synch) and initially somehow the old re-initialised key wouldn't unlock the doors properly.
Thanks for insight about the problems. Beside that, how does the car feel? Also I live in city with very bumpy roads, does it absorb holes nicely?
Love Laguna, true European sedan. Coupe is also great.

Door locks fail very often! I've had to change both of my front locks(pre-facelift).Other people have had this problem as well.
Otherwise this is indeed reliable.Bought second-h, almost 100k km's done since and nothing "interesting" has decided to fail.
+Valentin Stoian Yeah it's a known issue. For my Coupe I had to buy new lock motor for driver's door. 120k on the clock. Some extra money spent for that of course but otherwise no problems. And the Coupe also works well in winter!

Ja hoor! Ik dacht al, is dat nou de zwartedijk? En toen is dat Renault van Kesteren? Ja hoor. Het hoornbeek college kwam ook nog even voorbij. En toen kwam de naam van Kesteren zelf ook nog voorbij. In kampen word ook nog genoemd in het einde.
Hij vergeet de verschrikkelijke bobines bij benzine modellen. man, wat gaan die dingen vaak stuk bij Renaults. 20k km en het is gebeurd.

guys bit of a history about the Laguna it was named after the place in the Philippines called Laguna where our national hero lives back then that is why the car was called Renault Laguna
