- This is the Robbie Knievel Head on Train Jump at the Texas State Railroad, I recorded this live back in 2000 and found it while going through my vhs tapes. I thought people might enjoy seeing this. I had to change his entrance music because it was a copyright song.
RIP Robbie. I still remember watching this live when I was a kid. I thought it was the craziest shit ever and it still is to this day.
I knew Robbie. He would have liked your comment.
He will be truly missed I was a kid when he jumped over the 400 now number 30 Mikado number 30 is one of my oldest friends in Steam locomotion having rode behind her as a kid when she was numbered 400 I recall her headlight was actually centered in the middle of the boiler
I was there too, grew up in Maydale until I was 7. It’s pretty cool to look back on!
@@terryroach1299 indeed I have to say this jump was a lot better than his jump over the Grand Canyon because he didn’t crash he executed the jump perfectly he jumped moments before 400 plowed into the ramp jumped before the caboose and landed perfectly in the middle of the ramp
Thank you very much for bringing back this memory I was five years old and I remember seeing this on TV with my mom when an amazing spectacular stunt and may Robbie Knievel rest in peace knowing that he will be truly missed
RIP Robbie Knievel. As a railfan, I find it so cool he decided to use a heritage railroad like the TSRR for a jump of his, especially with the steam locomotives.
I was there it is so awesome that this was filmed.
Same
Must have been nerv killing.
Sending prayers to the Knievel family. Rest In Peace, Robbie.
I had recorded this on VHS when I was 7 years old. Talk about bringing back fond childhood memories. RIP Robbie
Thanks Baldwin. The wife and I love riding the Texas Railroad. I was telling some out of state tourists about this jump and they didn't have a clue about Robbie K. Thanks for recording history. You are the best!
I was just entering 5th grade when this was filmed, I remember staying up late the night this was shown
Congratulations from Texas, Captain Robbie Knievel... 🤠👍
Awesome find, this was days before I was born. I remember my dad also recording it on a VHS as well as the GC jump and I used to watch it all the time when I was young. Thanks for sharing!
Robbie should be remembered not for the distance he jumped but the precision.this jump, the jump on the aircraft carrier and the jump between the Vegas towers.short take offs and limited landing space.
R.I.P. Captain Robbie. My Dad and I were at the jump that night. Great memory. Thanks baldwinloco12..✌
RIP Robby! One of my hero’s has passed. So happy to hear him proclaim our Lord Jesus Christ.
32:32 is when everything started.
36:36 that was crazy.
I never heard about any of his jumps ever. His dad's jumps were known all over the world. I don't know why robbies jumps didnt get the pubicity his dad's did. This was great and I'm just starting to watch his jumps this week.
He flew so far he almost overshot the ramp. Great job Robbie!
I don't remember this! That was way cool. He swerved to the right so hard that I thought he may slip and delay the jump. Total pro. Dude's got balls.
Fantastic locomotive 🚂
Palestine is one of my favorite places to ride on Texas State Railroad 🛤
The last Robbie Knievel special to air on FOX BTW.
30:42
I totally get that the announcer isn't familiar with trains, but as a train nerd that statement "it's an old steam locomotive, it's diesel powered" really made me cringe.
My personal favorite !
Cool, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Man, 5 Star Vid
Robbie didn't need the University of Texas for this problem he figures problems like this all the time in his business !!! ✌🏻😎✌🏻
Notice at 36:42 where the ramp is and what part Robbie went up. This part was made of Styrofoam. Notice how Knievel went up far to his right up the ramp. Notice the condition of the left side(his left). Don't ask me why but the original plan was to have him have his ramp on the track. Johnny Airtime did this jump before and he put the complete ramp on the track. After the jump and during the replays they never showed the takeoff ramp again showing that the ramp Robbie went up was completely untouched. Even if Robbie had arrived late to the ramp he would have missed the train. Note they never ever show you the condition of the takeoff ramp after it was over. Why? Because the part he went up was never in danger of being hit by the Train. You can clearly see nothing but Styrofoam flying and no wood after the train his the fake ramp
Exactly what I seen I would have thought the timing would have been easy to pull off Regardless a great man
That was incredible
Pretty cool man. People don't realize how hard that is.
Rest In Peace Capitan. 1/13/2023 The Big Jump.
That was a cool!!
Robbie got it all to beat the train he has it in him to do it
Awesome
Guts and keeping fear in check..RIP
this is probably what would of happened if that indiana jones stunt show came to disneyland that incorporated the disneyland railroad in it.
Baldwin, do you happen to know of anywhere I could find a clip of the original, unedited entrance sequence with the 300? I’d be interested to see. Thanks for uploading this.
No idea, it was a copyright song so it's probably not online.
33:06 A thing of beauty
My mom taped this on TV it was so cool 2 watch.
we got it, with actual v c r machine. more clearer. 😊
RIP Robbie Knievel...
Why he always chose hay bales instead of extending the landing zone on almost every jump
He was a talented guy in the end, it wasn’t a jump that got him it was the alcohol.
I was there . I had just got my first car and we smoked a bunch of weed and went and saw it live .
Noted in your personal work file. You lied on your interview. 11:00 in my office
Jumped NEXT to a train.
Nice jump but a close one. I wondered if Johnny Airtime was OK with him using his jump idea.
You don't know much about jumping if you don't know Airtime.@user-ns7nu1mb8w
WOWEE
You do know that the part of the ramp that he jumped from did NOT get destroyed. The left side of the takeoff ramp that was on the track was a facade and that's the part of the ramp that got destroyed. Had he have been late and the train crashed through the left side/facade of the ramp, the right side of the ramp where he jumped was still in tact and he could've still jumped over the train. If you want to see a true head on train jump where the train destroys the whole takeoff ramp, watch this head on train jump by Johnny Airtime!

37:49 Bruce Barrett, the owner of sheps bbq in Palestine tx
He hasn’t aged much after 23 years either!
ha ha so good
Hahaha I thought was a pretty kick ass entrance song choice, gave me some Seth Rollins vibes. What was it originally?
Detroit Rock City
@@baldwinloco12 Excellent choice by Robbie.
I wasn't there.
Why the hell is Vidal Sassoon there to congratulate him?! 🤣🤣
I have you know that it's Paul Mitchell.
@@TheRacingGenius88 Damn, got my hair ppl mixed up. 🤣
Because him and Paul were/are very good friends. I worked crowd control at that event and got to talk with Robbie for a bit.
Unbelievable that the landing area was so short and rocky, what a clown show.
Always has to hit hay bales like they could never make a landing long enough
39:17 I was a little more worried than you 🤣
33:00 nuff said
I was the lighting guy for that show!! The production company was so unprofessional and had zero clue of trying to do they wanted!!! Robbie made that jump at least 5 times prior. The train was diagonal to o him and at no time was even near that train.
It’s media and showbusinwss trying to amaze you!’
His father would be shaking his head in disgust!!!
Matt Millen 😂😂
Im not seein where it woulda effected anything had he jumped early. Late yes thats obvious what woulda happened. 🤣🤣🤣
Too bad Johnny Airtime did this same thing years before 😖
I'm almost 80 years old and I couldn't remember who had Already done THAT... Thank you and Happy New Year.
R. I. P. Robbie knievel.
Amazing how he was able to walk with those massive balls.
