    I've watched the past twenty games of yours and I see a handful of recurring patterns: (1) You often move a piece twice in the opening in the hopes of tricking your opponent. Against the stronger opposition you are facing now, that usually just loses tempi. (2) You often begin an attack while your king is not castled. Don't do that. Develop all your pieces first, ideally with an attacking plan in mind. And only when you are fully developed, attack. (3) You are missing basic tactics your opponent has. My suggestion there would be to focus 90% of your time on practicing tactics and only 10% on playing until you have that sorted. Along similar lines, when a rook is on the same file as your queen or king, always consider what would happen if all the wood in between suddenly disappeared. Usually a good idea to prophylactically move your most valuable pieces elsewhere. My alarm bells were ringing loudly as soon as the rook showed up on the f-file.

      @MicroClases_Ciencia 4 дня назад +5

      We told these points like a hundred times, but Patrick is allergic to castling. Although I dont agree on practicing 90%=tactics, because that is what he does, and he doesn't have a clue about pawn structures, king defense. And that is why he breaks his opening structure so often, trying to find a winning tactic move, instead of improving the position little by little. And he also waste minutes and minutes in middlegame trying to find the tactical hit like those tactics practices, but ignores how to improve a position

      Thanks Jan! I’m aware of all the things I need to be doing. The challenge for me is remembering to do all of them in the game and without burning too much clock.

      @@MicroClases_Ciencia, you must have watched more of these games and read more of the comments than I have. Sure, if the basic theory is missing, then cracking open a book or two should also be on the agenda.

    I think you are too worried about the rare instances where castling early is a mistake and in doing so frequently expose yourself to the trouble that comes with not castling.
    Try castling earlier as a rule and see what happens. I predict at least 50 ELO based on that alone.

    • @witheringhs7766
      @witheringhs7766 4 дня назад +1

      nobody cares if you're 1450 instead of 1400... you also arent gonna learn when to castle unless you literally make the mistake of not doing it 1 move too late time and time again.... your advice isnt really advice, you castle too early, he castles too late... in the end you're still 1400

    • @tgb-vf4es
      @tgb-vf4es 4 дня назад

      @@witheringhs7766 It's safer to castle early than castle late overall, that's what I'm saying.
      This is what the 40th time he got burned for castling late... how many times do you think he'll be punished for castling early?
      At the highest level, how many times do you see top players castling late?
      50 ELO is huge for him, he's made zero progress in more than a year (he was at 1430 at day 50ish, almost the exact rating today).
      He has a loose grasp of some basics but he flounders even that - more than a year of studying something even one hour a day it's a shame to still be ultra mediocre.

    Don’t castle early. You will only be moving your king to a safe spot. Why would you want to do that ???? Also, always put your queen in front of your king on an open file in the middle game. This way you can lose your queen.

    At no point in this game did Patrick ever consider what his opponent would do - that's how he missed the Bishop trap and also the Rook pin on his Queen. How do you play a 2 player game and expect to win if you never think about what your opponent can do!!!

You might consider checking out your opponent before accepting the game. I saw that from Apex Chess, another "journey to 2000" guy. He routinely takes a quick look as soon as the opponent is assigned. If they joined a week ago, he cancels immediately.

    it's always kind of weird when you're staring right at something and NOT see it! That can happen in Chess a lot -- simply a matter of focus! That said looking for pins and discovered attacks is quite fundamental to basic tactical chess. When you miss something like you did here it's telling you something at a very basic level. Work on it!
