A FEW REMINDERS & THINGS TO MENTION! - This is my first experience with FF7’s story, I have not played OG/CC so please NO SPOILERS about either game/what will happen in the 3rd game! - My plan at this time is to wait and play the 3rd game. Initially, I considered playing OG before the 3rd game but I’m enjoying the mystery/direction the “re” series is taking, so I’ll wait for the 3rd game to continue the story (then I can play OG/CC afterwards) - Please be kind & respectful to others in the comments regarding theories, ships, etc! I want this to be a nice, positive space to be able to enjoy and discuss FF7 Rebirth together - I personally rate this game a 10/10 - absolutely enjoyed every moment of it and can’t wait for the 3rd THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR WATCHING! It was an absolute joy having you along for the journey :’)
You should play the OG. You can mod it to make it look better to avoid the archaic graphics, but you really should play it. The game is so deep, and the story is so different so there are no spoilers, just..... References, if you will. You should play the OG and let us enjoy taking that journey with you. I know a lot of us would enjoy seeing you play it, ESPECIALLY since you've played both Remake and Rebirth. That'll be an experience, and we'd be all in for the ride.

I've never been so angry at an enemy in a videogame in my life. But it wasn't the kind of anger that turns into rage because you lose, I just genuinely desired to hurt him as much as possible, and that music at the beginning of the fight really didn't help. I really thought we could save her this time...
But its why sephiroth is such an awesome villian, when sephiroth cooks he cooks, as much as it sucks that he made areith into a kabob, its what makes him awesome
"No Promises to Keep" lyrics said that she met someone for the first time in "cobblestone streets" and Aerith met Cloud there under the Loveless (yes, the play) billboard. The street is also called the Loveless street. And at "our place" is definitely "our spot". The background of the Square Enix website for the song is Cloud and Aerith's Gold Saucer date. And the singer (Loren Allred) and composer (Nobuo Uematsu) said it's a love song and it's about Cloud and Aerith. While Nojima (lyricist,ff7r writer) said that this is about all the people that Aerith loved including her mom, Barret, Tifa and Zack, he also said that it is a love song and I think they don't want to let the other shippers down. If you read the lyrics to "Hollow" you'll see that it's Cloud's song for Aerith. Congrats on finishing the game!
I’m such a big fan of Cloud and Tifa’s relationship, but I definitely feel for Tifa. This is the best portrayal I’ve seen of loving someone you’re losing piece by piece to mental illness. My mom passed in late 2022 with dementia and schizophrenia. For a mostly very silly game, it definitely hits hard when it needs to.
It’s something that’s overlooked I think for ppl who critique the finale (and look I get the criticism), and soemthing that was not explored as much in the OG or even advent children (a very bad omission since the director stated on terrier he knew tifa had complicated feelings towards aerith), but when you see tifa jsut completely not focused on anything…crying over her friend’s death at the hands of the man who killed her father and has been eating away the sanity of cloud (the man she loves)…the woman has retreated into herself. She hears cloud act as if nothing happened but at this point CANT say anything…Barrett of course isn’t going to be the one as he dosnt have the personality and he DID look to tifa to get an idea of what he should do…but tifa wasn’t “there.”

Tifa is the most underrated hero in the FF7 universe. The loyalty and care she shows towards Cloud is the most loving thing someone can display.
When one of the most selfless character like Tifa we see caring about everyone and good part of her staying in the group is tied to Cloud not just revenge and she says nothing to anyonenot even Cloud speaks volumes in itself
When Aerith theme started playing at the start of the battle! 😭 Square made me fall in love with Aerith only to take her away 😥 I LOVE how everyone has their Limit Break except Cloud because he thinks he saved her! Or maybe the convergence of worlds is happening and he's seeing the reality where he saved her too. When he blocked Sephiroth's blow, the rainbow effect appeared. That's a new timeline! Or maybe Aerith is just in the lifestream or it's Jenova. Anyway, I feel bad for everyone, especially Tifa. She lost her best friend!
Saw an interview about 'No Promises' and the composer said it's a love letter from Aerith to everyone she ever loved, including her mother(s) and friends, and now I'm even more sad 😭 It's rare to see a very optimistic character who loves life very much, and she will be missed dearly.
The song writer and singer confirmed to be a song for Cloud. Its the Answer song to Hollow, a song from Advent Children Cloud to Aerith. It was before that interview with the lie came out, confusing International fans who read the lyrics themselfs.
@Matagu1 He literally says it's not only about Cloud... and tbh: making it only about Cloud severally detriments Aerith's development and her character. She was lonely and isolated at the beginning of Remake, and at the end of Rebirth she left Midgar, traveled the world, and had several friends surrounding her. She was as close to Cloud as she was to Nanaki and Tifa. Shipping isn't everything (I say that as someone who doesn't care at all about the shipping wars).

You're absolutely making the right decision not to play OG. You only get one first playthrough, and what this means is, you can play the 3rd game, go back and play OG and Crisis Core, then replay the whole Remake trilogy with completely new context! That's impossible for us old fans, so you deserve to get as much out of this as you can! See you for part 3. :)
@AuramiteEX amazing to tell someone not to play the original game that came out in 1997 even though the director of the game and creator says different. Especially when this series isn't a remake and really a sequel. Got it.
What's interesting is originally Aerith was going to be the only heroine for Cloud. The main characters were going to just be Cloud, Aerith, Barret and Red. It's not until they decided to k!ll her off instead of Barret that they decided to add in Tifa. And Cloud was originally going to be Aerith's former lover (as well as current.) Then they decided it would be Sephiroth, then finally Zack. Cloud also shows interest in Aerith no matter who the player chooses in both the new games. So all this just to say, it's definitely not weird that people ship them.
I also played Remake without any idea how the story went. And I thought it was obvious that Cloud liked Aerith romantically. And didn't really show interest in Tifa romantically much imo. As well as all the hints pairing Cloud and Aerith together. Like his mom flash back in her house. Him opening up to her so much and so quickly. Him not pestering her for money and just accepted the job for a date. So it's surprising to see how many people didn't notice? Or didn't want to notice? I guess most of the people who didn't notice did prefer Tifa. IDK. I look at these things pretty objectively and I thought it was obvious.

Unfortunately it seems like a lot of people have gotten way too invested in treating this game like a dating sim to actually have an objective view or interest in whats going on with the main games story and characters. Because Aerith is a pretty big part of both. But I'm not saying that's what this girl is necessarily doing though.
You’re forgetting another fun fact that Aerith and Sephiroth was supposed to be siblings in the draft of the og FF7, hence why have the same “-th” on their last name. Not to mention the similarity of their hair too. Which is why, this Remake Trilogy is basically a 4D chess between Sephiroth and Aerith; a battle about fate.
With regards to not knowing which timeline Aerith is alive in, just keep this in mind: Cloud's deflection allowed Aerith to survive in a branching timeline. In some comments in other videos, we believe Aerith is existing in a sort of timeline limbo.
Is it really bad really bad situation. I’m having so much fun hearing what other people have to say-their thoughts🤔 the game is just so fascinating. I love how Tifa and Aerith seem to know and share a lot and they were probably working together the whole time to keep Cloud sane 😢💔

It's true the song hits so hard once you finish the game ...now you should go and watch Aerith's date, the Loveless play literally foreshadows the ending and it's heartbreaking 💔
For the flower ring in the Zack solo bit, it blocks the Wail attack the lower mouth does and flips it into an attack that staggers the boss instead of trapping Zack 🙂
Cloud and Aerith have a communication bond through the different timelines they are experiencing. Aerith knows of the outcomes and tries to help Cloud (Just like Tifa does) on the right path through sephiroth mind control. Even when Aerith has apprently died Cloud can see her when others cannot through the white materia (lifestream).
my theory is that she's in the lifestream "dead" but just like Sephiroth he's able to sense/see her which is keeping him from excepting her death which is why he seems kinda happy afterwards in his head she's alive so he built kinda a mental block shielding him from the trauma
They did a phenomenal job of showing a mental breakdown in regards to Cloud. The rejecting of his reality around him and creating false scenarios is incredibly well done as it leaves the player second guessing the reality of the situation. Just. Like. Cloud. . . Did you catch that the party all has full limit gauges at the start of the fight with the exception of Cloud.
Having played the OG I already knew what was coming and it's still sad. Out of all the characters I feel sad for Tifa.. Aerith died and now Tifa has to watch her childhood love go into a spiraling mental breakdown in front of her. That has to be mentally and emotionally exhausting for her.
As I was watching this I was thinking, most of the sephiroth stuff happens in clouds head, maybe the worlds only converged for cloud, hence why he can see aerith and the tear in the sky but no one else can see
Like his body exists in the a reality where aerith dies but his mind sees more if not all realities like sephiroth. I think that’s what sephiroth meant when he told cloud “I give you my blessing”
Interesting, you are the first person seeing Cloud and Aerith as completely different people. I never even considered that. It looked to me that their consciousnesses were transferred to a world where their bodies were sleeping. Cloud was confused too to wake up there and had the info the the alt. timeline when he got back. As someone who's been shipping Cloud and Aerith since the OG, this game made me really happy I gotta say :') I really hope you aren't getting spoiled in the next 3-4 years.
What's truely remarkable is that the remake & Rebirth only covers what's disc 1 in the OG, and that game has 3 discs. However, remake has more hours of content than the OG still, which is even more amazing. I can't wait for part 3. I can't. I couldn't wait for rebirth, like I was counting the days for months. I really hope it doesn't take 4 more years, requiring us to get a PS6 even.... haha I bought a PS5 for this game... This has been like a $800 dollar game for me, because of that :')
Part 3 will most likely be released on ps5 and ps6 like remake was. They’ll most likely upscale all three games for ps6, and I’ll be in line to buy them lol.

Something I noticed only on rewatches. At 2:01:15, Aerith is completely focused on her friends and doesn't flinch like everybody else when the plane engine kicks up smoke. Small details like that have really made this game special.
As for ending...our Aerith has died. Aerith of the lifestream, the one of the date that gave Holy to our Cloud, we dont know...Sephiroth was about to kill her in the church, so maybe she has dissapeared too. But ...maybe Cloud created another timeline (all those rainbows when he deflected Sephiroth blade) snd theres a workd wit a living Aerith, and maybe Aerith from the lifestream or OG Aerith cant really die or has survived through that last Aerith or can manifest through there. Another mystery is where Zack is, all the flowers were alive so it seems another place from the dying world he has been in Rebirth...or the same one but Aerith has awakened?
I think a follow up video after you've had time to process everything would be cool. Thoughts on the game, likes/dislkes, theories for the future, ect.
the complexity of the relationships in the game is one aspect i really like and i can totally understand both ships, both of them are valid and work for different reasons plus at the end of the day, the affinity system and the dates are player choice so you choose whoever you like best, there's no need to fight over it. cloud and tifa have known each other since childhood, they share a past and they're always there for each other no matter what. cloud and aerith are a fresh new relationship and even though they haven't known each other for long they understand each other and they share a special connection no one else has. both relationships are beautiful in my opinion, it's just a shame that the ff7 shippers get so toxic over it.
Cloud is able to perceive two realities at once. The main line where Aerith died, hence why everyone is sad, and the altered one where he saved Aerith.
why are people so confused about cloud's sword prompt at the temple of the ancients? clearly it's for trying to put down cloud's sword so he doesn't attack aerith like why would it be the other way around?
She's talking to him through the lifestream. And since Cloud is mako infused (part of being a SOLDIER and mako is the lifestream) he's the only one who can see her.
Yes, but also no. Cloud actually saved her, creating a new world who he can only see, in which he saved her and she’s “alive”. That’s why Cloud can see her, he’s actually convinced she’s alive and this is gonna make him even more delusional and giving Sephiroth one more weapon to mess with him.

Cloud sees "Lifestream" Aeris after she is killed. Notice the music change when he sees her the first time after her death when they are all sitting around. The Lifestream theme plays. She has returned to the lifestream. Her "second home". Cloud can see her because of the mako poisoning. Red XIII is also in-tuned into the lifestream and feels her presence.
Very sad ending I think. Your playthrough has been great to watch. Unhinged Cloud is very unnerving. I have a theory that he is seeing alternative realities and isn't actually losing his mind.
Nice playthrough! The final game of the trilogy will blow you away, so many cool stuff happens! By the way, I see you decided to not play the OG FF7 and wait for Part 3 of the remake trilogy, so I recommend NOT playing Crisis Core either, because it spoils stuff that will be in the next game (the game assumes you played the Original FF7).
@juanmaldonado5288 it is bad advice. Remake and Rebirth are sequels to Crisis Core, OG and Advent Children and not a remake. That's why the Director of the game recommends for people to play the whole series. That's why Square just did crisis core remake last year and put Advent Children back in the movie theaters last month.

SPOILERS Crisis Core tells the truth about Zack, Cloud and the Nibelheim incident in a way that doesn't have the weight of the OG FF7 reveal, because its version of that sequence assumes you've seen the original game. For now, players of Rebirth only know that Cloud knew Zack (and 'somehow' forgot about him) and that they were both in Nibelheim 5 years earlier, but they still think both were SOLDIERs. It's through the reveal at the northern crater that they understand that Cloud was a mere Shinra grunt and that those memories are not his, which is a big moment in OG FF7, and that they'll surely show in Part 3 of the remake trilogy. Crisis Core goes over that without any gravitas, because, like I said, it's not trying to make it a big reveal moment. That's why I recommend everyone wait for Part 3 if they're not going to play OG FF7. It's fine to play Crisis Core when they've experienced the big reveal the way it was intended by developers, either in the OG FF7 or Part 3. END OF SPOILERS

I couldn't believe this bullshit! It looked like Cloud saved Aerith for a moment there and then it just switched to her being stabbed after all. Don't despair too much though! The Aerith in the alternate timeline where Zack is could still be alive and still didn't wake up. Still this waiting for part 3 is gonna be MURDER!!! Unless some miracle happens with Square-Enix and hopefully it'll come sooner than 2027.
Step 1. Introduce them with the idea of multiple worlds through lifestream ( internet calls it timelines, but not once did they mention that term) with Zack and all that. Step 2: showcase the unstable metal state of clouds mind. Step 3: mix the two😈. What is real?...what is fake?... These are the ingredients to put the players in clouds' perspective as much as possible. The third game will definitely have that sad part that everyone yerns for in this game. And it'll hit even harder.
A curious fact is that in the fight against Jenova all the members except Cloud have the limit bar full, this may imply that Cloud still believes that Aerith is still alive or it implies what Sephiroth said that Cloud is a puppet without feelings... 🤔😢
In my opinion, I don’t think there’s a multiverse at play here. Those alternate timelines are INSIDE and part of the lifestream, which was also shown in the og FF7. Yep, you heard that right. The rift that Cloud saw in the ending was also in the og FF7. It was during the part where Tifa is fixing Cloud’s fucked up mind. It may look similar to the rift, but it has the same color. They are only expanding the timeline thingy using the black and white whispers. Also, one detail you missed during the first phase of the Jenova fight was that, everyone’s limit break is in full bar, while Cloud is zero, because everyone saw and believed that Aerith died, while Cloud knows he saved her and is alive in an alternate timeline or whatsoever. But nah, I believe that Aerith is dead. Our main Aerith is dead. The “alive” Aerith is inside the lifestream, and that’s just it. She won:t be able to interact with the gang (unless she permits herself to), except Cloud
"But what about Zack?" Here's the thing. Aerith still cares about Zack of course. You see her guiding and trying to help him from time to time. At this point in time however she has very apparent and real feelings for Cloud. People have the assumption that if Zack showed up at any point Aerith would've been like "Cloud who?" In reality it'd most likely just have been Aerith being confused with feelings for two different people. My hope for part 3 is happy endings for all the ships depending on player choices. Let all the ships have something happy going for them. Extremely unpopular opinion but I don't care. I want my happy endings Square Enix.
The ending is so sad, I knew it was probably going to happen because even though I haven't played the original, there are some things that are just common knowledge among long-time gamers like myself. Aerith's death in the original is one of those tragic and shocking moments that became part of gaming history. So yeah, it will be interesting to see what happens now. At the very least I can see Aerith still appearing as part of the lifestream and having some really heartfelt moments in the next part.

Only Aerith and Tifa knew what happened with Cloud at the Temple. I believe Sephiroth blocked the rest of the party by using Whispers. That’s why Yuffie didn’t know how Sephiroth got the materia.
In Aerith and Cloud date I dont see those love feelings. First thing, thats not our Aerith but Aerith from OG game or Aerith of lifestream or Omni-Aerith, what you prefer to call her. Second, she recreates one of her dates with Zack in CC and everything goes bad, and english translation is somewhat dubious but when they are at the Church Cloud tells "I will remember next time, thats what friends do" and she says the bir abkut now knowing where they do stand and rgat she is relieved because she likes him ...but theres liking and LIKING. With this dialogue I see a friendship more rhan anything else. Im OG game utsvtrie there was a love triangke and Cloud and Aerith had that short lived and platonic relationship that never webt anywhwre because tragedy , but here in Rebirth I think developers have established more the Cloud and Tifa relationship as canon. That, in the end , was how OG ended after all.
Welcome to The Wait. After you finish the third gamenyou should go back and play the original. There is so much left to do based on where we arenin the story, you wont be disappointed.
Cloud and Zack teaming up was by far my favorite part of the game. I don’t even think they know what they’re doing with Aerith. She’s technically not dead but not alive. Seems like she’s alive in 2 worlds but dead in this one and one of the worlds she’s alive in is communicating with Cloud here in this world? Seems like forever until we get answers so all speculation until the 3rd game!
People ship cloud and aerith because they love each other and are written as lover interests they are star crossed lovers since 97. hell the majority of the devs are clerith shippers.
The developers intentionally wanted you to take it as a love triangle while it wasn't... she liked cloud because she reminded him of her ex to the point where in the original park scene she says it. But the main point of this was that Cloud was confusing himself with Zack the entire time which in the remake even Sephiroth takes advantage of. Nomura already stated that even in this trilogy Advent Children is Canon and if you read On the way to a smile which is the canonical book that leads to it Cid and Barrett state that Tifa and Cloud are a couple but Cloud still can't overcome Aerith's and Zack's Death because he blames himself for not being mentally capable in the moment to save them. You have to use facts.
The multiple timeline stuff they introduced in the remake/rebirth butchered the Aerith praying scene. Instead of knowing exactly what happens and having the players feel the impact of that, it makes the players feel confused (especially new players). I know this is to set up the third game, but I feel the execution of this scene was poorly done and lacking. That being said, absolutely amazing game
"What's real and what isn't?" you're requoting the line in advertising campaign, "what's fact and what's fiction?" The most arguably making sense conclusion I can come up now is that when he deflected the Masamune, the rainbow effect appeared, a sign of a new possibility in the Lifestream is branched out, but Sephiroth can use the Black Whispers to alter that, he engulfed that possibility with the outcome he wanted. Or... another tricky theory that I'm still processing it, that it was Aerith herself using the White Whispers to make sure her death still happen.
True bloodless death is created by the white whisper. She died before joining the lifestream to fight Sephiroth. That wouldn't have been possible if she were alive.
2:08:27 when the timeline discussion starts and dog emotes start flooding the chat - such an interesting way for the game to convey the complexity of the game world without being overtly stated in the dialogue
In the og ships make no sense because everything is strucktured well. I will try not to spoil anything. -Aerith is over Zack because she knows he cheated on her and they weren't that serious(CCs Zack version is like a differen't character) -Tifa doesn't make her move on Cloud before Aeriths death. She loves him but is too shy to say it(this is her gs date dialog). -Cloud is generally oblivious to romantic feelings of the girls but has a preference for Aerith -Aerith dies -anything further would be spoilers but it should show the dynamic structure
Well it’s over..you’ve been witnessed to what is going o be one of the most controversial endings to a video game. What do you make of the story? There’s admittedly so much to think on: 1. Every party aside from cloud goes to limit breaker. There is a reason for this. 2. Why are the party members somewhat upbeat when cloud is a the vicinity? 3. Why did they disappear when cloud fought jenova alone? 4. Was that really aerith we saw in the forest? It’s kinda odd how she does that when we just intersected with her the dying world. And not only that she acts very mysterious, and tells cloud that she wants him to focus on himself. Not only did she really only say that on their date…but rather odd to say it now…? 5. How did cloud get the black material?? Was…was that given in the Forrest..? 6. Is aerith…gasp*? 7. Tifa..I mean my god…she saw sephiroth kill her father, kill her sister-like friend, and now cloud..he isn’t acting normal…all because of HIM. Girl has now effectively withdrawn. 8. Waitamintie…the integrade final cutscene…that HASNT happened yet!
Truly awful ending to an amazing game. So sad they screwed up SO badly that you don't even know how to feel. Aerith never got her moment to shine where we mourn for her. and they throw you right into a 10 phase boss fight and rush the end. Really loved Chapters 1-13 but 14 was a 6/10 for me and i drop my rating from a 9.5 to a 9.3 because of it. And I haven't even played the OG.

Aerith and Cloud are being shipped since 1997, especially more since 2005. But Remake/Rebirth gave Cloud and Aerith a better romanticly dynamic and emotional tension which is showed pretty much during the whole game. You have to understand japanese culture and behavior, because Final Fantasy is a japanese game. The significance of holding hands with fingers interlocking (not sure how accurate it is) but they state "two people intertwining their fingers while holding hands is called 恋人つなぎ (koibito tsunagi, “lover’s connection”) in Japanese culture." And not only does that happen on Cloud and Aeriths date, it happens at the end of the final battle and is the trophy picture for completing said chapter. Cloud wanting photos of Aerith and him is a nod to Advent Children, cause in this movie Cloud didnt had any photo of Aerith. Japanese people are very shy when it comes to kisses. Before western people came to japan, kiss on the lips was reserved for prostitutes and sexuality. Even today, married japanese people RARELY kiss on the lips! So Tifa and Cloud kissing is all about sexuality and also fanservice for the westerners, cause western love Cloti more. Dont know what they said but in OG Cloud ends up with Tifa, sleeps with her the day before the last Battle and later they lived toghether and adopt children. And in Rebirth there are Two kisses and both are Cloud and Tifa. In OG there was a platonic LOVE interest and a LOVE triangle, in Remake that remained, but Rebirth has shown no LOVE interest whatsoever between the two. The date is with original Aerith and she ends Up saying she likes him but not that like of liking.

So, Zack will only show up if Cloud's life is in danger and/or the empty materia can be used as an unlimited storage unit; so that either Aerith or Zack can show up in dire moments. - This is my first experience with FF7’s story, I have not played OG/CC so please NO SPOILERS about either game/what will happen in the 3rd game!
- My plan at this time is to wait and play the 3rd game. Initially, I considered playing OG before the 3rd game but I’m enjoying the mystery/direction the “re” series is taking, so I’ll wait for the 3rd game to continue the story (then I can play OG/CC afterwards)
- Please be kind & respectful to others in the comments regarding theories, ships, etc! I want this to be a nice, positive space to be able to enjoy and discuss FF7 Rebirth together

You should play the OG. You can mod it to make it look better to avoid the archaic graphics, but you really should play it. The game is so deep, and the story is so different so there are no spoilers, just..... References, if you will. You should play the OG and let us enjoy taking that journey with you. I know a lot of us would enjoy seeing you play it, ESPECIALLY since you've played both Remake and Rebirth. That'll be an experience, and we'd be all in for the ride.

I've never been so angry at an enemy in a videogame in my life. But it wasn't the kind of anger that turns into rage because you lose, I just genuinely desired to hurt him as much as possible, and that music at the beginning of the fight really didn't help.

"No Promises to Keep" lyrics said that she met someone for the first time in "cobblestone streets" and Aerith met Cloud there under the Loveless (yes, the play) billboard. The street is also called the Loveless street. And at "our place" is definitely "our spot". The background of the Square Enix website for the song is Cloud and Aerith's Gold Saucer date. And the singer (Loren Allred) and composer (Nobuo Uematsu) said it's a love song and it's about Cloud and Aerith. While Nojima (lyricist,ff7r writer) said that this is about all the people that Aerith loved including her mom, Barret, Tifa and Zack, he also said that it is a love song and I think they don't want to let the other shippers down. If you read the lyrics to "Hollow" you'll see that it's Cloud's song for Aerith. Congrats on finishing the game!
I’m such a big fan of Cloud and Tifa’s relationship, but I definitely feel for Tifa. This is the best portrayal I’ve seen of loving someone you’re losing piece by piece to mental illness. My mom passed in late 2022 with dementia and schizophrenia.
For a mostly very silly game, it definitely hits hard when it needs to.
It’s something that’s overlooked I think for ppl who critique the finale (and look I get the criticism), and soemthing that was not explored as much in the OG or even advent children (a very bad omission since the director stated on terrier he knew tifa had complicated feelings towards aerith), but when you see tifa jsut completely not focused on anything…crying over her friend’s death at the hands of the man who killed her father and has been eating away the sanity of cloud (the man she loves)…the woman has retreated into herself. She hears cloud act as if nothing happened but at this point CANT say anything…Barrett of course isn’t going to be the one as he dosnt have the personality and he DID look to tifa to get an idea of what he should do…but tifa wasn’t “there.”
What I'm obsessed with right now is Tifa's sadness more than any other character.

@Matagu1 He literally says it's not only about Cloud... and tbh: making it only about Cloud severally detriments Aerith's development and her character. She was lonely and isolated at the beginning of Remake, and at the end of Rebirth she left Midgar, traveled the world, and had several friends surrounding her. She was as close to Cloud as she was to Nanaki and Tifa. Shipping isn't everything (I say that as someone who doesn't care at all about the shipping wars).

You're absolutely making the right decision not to play OG. You only get one first playthrough, and what this means is, you can play the 3rd game, go back and play OG and Crisis Core, then replay the whole Remake trilogy with completely new context! That's impossible for us old fans, so you deserve to get as much out of this as you can! See you for part 3. :)

What's interesting is originally Aerith was going to be the only heroine for Cloud. The main characters were going to just be Cloud, Aerith, Barret and Red.
It's not until they decided to k!ll her off instead of Barret that they decided to add in Tifa. And Cloud was originally going to be Aerith's former lover (as well as current.) Then they decided it would be Sephiroth, then finally Zack. Cloud also shows interest in Aerith no matter who the player chooses in both the new games. So all this just to say, it's definitely not weird that people ship them.

I also played Remake without any idea how the story went. And I thought it was obvious that Cloud liked Aerith romantically. And didn't really show interest in Tifa romantically much imo. As well as all the hints pairing Cloud and Aerith together. Like his mom flash back in her house. Him opening up to her so much and so quickly. Him not pestering her for money and just accepted the job for a date.
So it's surprising to see how many people didn't notice? Or didn't want to notice? I guess most of the people who didn't notice did prefer Tifa. IDK. I look at these things pretty objectively and I thought it was obvious.

Unfortunately it seems like a lot of people have gotten way too invested in treating this game like a dating sim to actually have an objective view or interest in whats going on with the main games story and characters. You’re forgetting another fun fact that Aerith and Sephiroth was supposed to be siblings in the draft of the og FF7, hence why have the same “-th” on their last name. Not to mention the similarity of their hair too. Which is why, this Remake Trilogy is basically a 4D chess between Sephiroth and Aerith; a battle about fate.

With regards to not knowing which timeline Aerith is alive in, just keep this in mind: Cloud's deflection allowed Aerith to survive in a branching timeline. In some comments in other videos, we believe Aerith is existing in a sort of timeline limbo.

Cloud and Aerith have a communication bond through the different timelines they are experiencing. Aerith knows of the outcomes and tries to help Cloud (Just like Tifa does) on the right path through sephiroth mind control. Even when Aerith has apprently died Cloud can see her when others cannot through the white materia (lifestream).

my theory is that she's in the lifestream "dead" but just like Sephiroth he's able to sense/see her which is keeping him from excepting her death which is why he seems kinda happy afterwards in his head she's alive so he built kinda a mental block shielding him from the trauma

They did a phenomenal job of showing a mental breakdown in regards to Cloud. The rejecting of his reality around him and creating false scenarios is incredibly well done as it leaves the player second guessing the reality of the situation. Just. Like. Cloud. . .
Did you catch that the party all has full limit gauges at the start of the fight with the exception of Cloud.
Having played the OG I already knew what was coming and it's still sad. Out of all the characters I feel sad for Tifa.. Aerith died and now Tifa has to watch her childhood love go into a spiraling mental breakdown in front of her. That has to be mentally and emotionally exhausting for her.
I think Aerith is communicating with Cloud through the lifestream to give him hope that he saved her otherwise he would totally be Sephiroth’s puppet.

It looked to me that their consciousnesses were transferred to a world where their bodies were sleeping. What's truely remarkable is that the remake & Rebirth only covers what's disc 1 in the OG, and that game has 3 discs. Something I noticed only on rewatches. At 2:01:15, Aerith is completely focused on her friends and doesn't flinch like everybody else when the plane engine kicks up smoke. Small details like that have really made this game special.

As for ending...our Aerith has died. Aerith of the lifestream, the one of the date that gave Holy to our Cloud, we dont know...Sephiroth was about to kill her in the church, so maybe she has dissapeared too. But ...maybe Cloud created another timeline (all those rainbows when he deflected Sephiroth blade) snd theres a workd wit a living Aerith, and maybe Aerith from the lifestream or OG Aerith cant really die or has survived through that last Aerith or can manifest through there. Another mystery is where Zack is, all the flowers were alive so it seems another place from the dying world he has been in Rebirth...or the same one but Aerith has awakened?
I think a follow up video after you've had time to process everything would be cool. Thoughts on the game, likes/dislkes, theories for the future, ect.

the complexity of the relationships in the game is one aspect i really like and i can totally understand both ships, both of them are valid and work for different reasons plus at the end of the day, the affinity system and the dates are player choice so you choose whoever you like best, there's no need to fight over it.
cloud and tifa have known each other since childhood, they share a past and they're always there for each other no matter what. cloud and aerith are a fresh new relationship and even though they haven't known each other for long they understand each other and they share a special connection no one else has. both relationships are beautiful in my opinion, it's just a shame that the ff7 shippers get so toxic over it.

Cloud sees "Lifestream" Aeris after she is killed. Notice the music change when he sees her the first time after her death when they are all sitting around. The Lifestream theme plays. She has returned to the lifestream. Her "second home". Cloud can see her because of the mako poisoning. Red XIII is also in-tuned into the lifestream and feels her presence.
If you play OG, stop at the end of disk 1 don’t go past this!

@juanmaldonado5288 it is bad advice. Remake and Rebirth are sequels to Crisis Core, OG and Advent Children and not a remake. That's why the Director of the game recommends for people to play the whole series. That's why Square just did crisis core remake last year and put Advent Children back in the movie theaters last month.

Crisis Core tells the truth about Zack, Cloud and the Nibelheim incident in a way that doesn't have the weight of the OG FF7 reveal, because its version of that sequence assumes you've seen the original game.
For now, players of Rebirth only know that Cloud knew Zack (and 'somehow' forgot about him) and that they were both in Nibelheim 5 years earlier, but they still think both were SOLDIERs. It's through the reveal at the northern crater that they understand that Cloud was a mere Shinra grunt and that those memories are not his, which is a big moment in OG FF7, and that they'll surely show in Part 3 of the remake trilogy.
Crisis Core goes over that without any gravitas, because, like I said, it's not trying to make it a big reveal moment. That's why I recommend everyone wait for Part 3 if they're not going to play OG FF7. It's fine to play Crisis Core when they've experienced the big reveal the way it was intended by developers, either in the OG FF7 or Part 3.

I couldn't believe this bullshit! It looked like Cloud saved Aerith for a moment there and then it just switched to her being stabbed after all. Don't despair too much though! The Aerith in the alternate timeline where Zack is could still be alive and still didn't wake up. Still this waiting for part 3 is gonna be MURDER!!! Unless some miracle happens with Square-Enix and hopefully it'll come sooner than 2027.
Step 1. Introduce them with the idea of multiple worlds through lifestream ( internet calls it timelines, but not once did they mention that term) with Zack and all that.
Step 2: showcase the unstable metal state of clouds mind.
Step 3: mix the two😈. What is real?...what is fake?...
These are the ingredients to put the players in clouds' perspective as much as possible. The third game will definitely have that sad part that everyone yerns for in this game. And it'll hit even harder.
A curious fact is that in the fight against Jenova all the members except Cloud have the limit bar full, this may imply that Cloud still believes that Aerith is still alive or it implies what Sephiroth said that Cloud is a puppet without feelings... 🤔😢
In my opinion, I don’t think there’s a multiverse at play here. Those alternate timelines are INSIDE and part of the lifestream, which was also shown in the og FF7. Yep, you heard that right. The rift that Cloud saw in the ending was also in the og FF7. It was during the part where Tifa is fixing Cloud’s fucked up mind. It may look similar to the rift, but it has the same color. They are only expanding the timeline thingy using the black and white whispers.
Also, one detail you missed during the first phase of the Jenova fight was that, everyone’s limit break is in full bar, while Cloud is zero, because everyone saw and believed that Aerith died, while Cloud knows he saved her and is alive in an alternate timeline or whatsoever. But nah, I believe that Aerith is dead. Our main Aerith is dead. The “alive” Aerith is inside the lifestream, and that’s just it. She won:t be able to interact with the gang (unless she permits herself to), except Cloud
Those worlds are connected to the lifestream as the main One, but they are worlds all the same, Sephiroth explains It very clearly.
"But what about Zack?" Here's the thing. Aerith still cares about Zack of course. You see her guiding and trying to help him from time to time. At this point in time however she has very apparent and real feelings for Cloud. People have the assumption that if Zack showed up at any point Aerith would've been like "Cloud who?" In reality it'd most likely just have been Aerith being confused with feelings for two different people.
My hope for part 3 is happy endings for all the ships depending on player choices. Let all the ships have something happy going for them. Extremely unpopular opinion but I don't care. I want my happy endings Square Enix.
The ending is so sad, I knew it was probably going to happen because even though I haven't played the original, there are some things that are just common knowledge among long-time gamers like myself. Aerith's death in the original is one of those tragic and shocking moments that became part of gaming history. So yeah, it will be interesting to see what happens now. At the very least I can see Aerith still appearing as part of the lifestream and having some really heartfelt moments in the next part.

In Aerith and Cloud date I dont see those love feelings. First thing, thats not our Aerith but Aerith from OG game or Aerith of lifestream or Omni-Aerith, what you prefer to call her. Second, she recreates one of her dates with Zack in CC and everything goes bad, and english translation is somewhat dubious but when they are at the Church Cloud tells "I will remember next time, thats what friends do" and she says the bir abkut now knowing where they do stand and rgat she is relieved because she likes him ...but theres liking and LIKING. With this dialogue I see a friendship more rhan anything else. Im OG game utsvtrie there was a love triangke and Cloud and Aerith had that short lived and platonic relationship that never webt anywhwre because tragedy , but here in Rebirth I think developers have established more the Cloud and Tifa relationship as canon. That, in the end , was how OG ended after all.

The developers intentionally wanted you to take it as a love triangle while it wasn't... she liked cloud because she reminded him of her ex to the point where in the original park scene she says it. But the main point of this was that Cloud was confusing himself with Zack the entire time which in the remake even Sephiroth takes advantage of. Nomura already stated that even in this trilogy Advent Children is Canon and if you read On the way to a smile which is the canonical book that leads to it Cid and Barrett state that Tifa and Cloud are a couple but Cloud still can't overcome Aerith's and Zack's Death because he blames himself for not being mentally capable in the moment to save them. The multiple timeline stuff they introduced in the remake/rebirth butchered the Aerith praying scene. Instead of knowing exactly what happens and having the players feel the impact of that, it makes the players feel confused (especially new players). I know this is to set up the third game, but I feel the execution of this scene was poorly done and lacking. That being said, absolutely amazing game

The most arguably making sense conclusion I can come up now is that when he deflected the Masamune, the rainbow effect appeared, a sign of a new possibility in the Lifestream is branched out, but Sephiroth can use the Black Whispers to alter that, he engulfed that possibility with the outcome he wanted.
Or... another tricky theory that I'm still processing it, that it was Aerith herself using the White Whispers to make sure her death still happen.
True bloodless death is created by the white whisper. She died before joining the lifestream to fight Sephiroth. That wouldn't have been possible if she were alive.

Well it’s over..you’ve been witnessed to what is going o be one of the most controversial endings to a video game. What do you make of the story?
There’s admittedly so much to think on:
1. Every party aside from cloud goes to limit breaker. There is a reason for this.
2. Why are the party members somewhat upbeat when cloud is a the vicinity?
3. Why did they disappear when cloud fought jenova alone?
4. Was that really aerith we saw in the forest? It’s kinda odd how she does that when we just intersected with her the dying world. And not only that she acts very mysterious, and tells cloud that she wants him to focus on himself. Not only did she really only say that on their date…but rather odd to say it now…?
5. How did cloud get the black material?? Was…was that given in the Forrest..?
6. Is aerith…gasp*?
7. Tifa..I mean my god…she saw sephiroth kill her father, kill her sister-like friend, and now cloud..he isn’t acting normal…all because of HIM. Girl has now effectively withdrawn.

Truly awful ending to an amazing game. So sad they screwed up SO badly that you don't even know how to feel. Aerith never got her moment to shine where we mourn for her. and they throw you right into a 10 phase boss fight and rush the end. Really loved Chapters 1-13 but 14 was a 6/10 for me and i drop my rating from a 9.5 to a 9.3 because of it. And I haven't even played the OG.
The song writer and singer confirmed to be a song for Cloud. Its the Answer song to Hollow, a song from Advent Children Cloud to Aerith. It was before that interview with the lie came out, confusing International fans who read the lyrics themselfs. It never was about Zack. She never meet him for the first time in the streets.
Aerith and Cloud are being shipped since 1997, especially more since 2005. But Remake/Rebirth gave Cloud and Aerith a better romanticly dynamic and emotional tension which is showed pretty much during the whole game.
You have to understand japanese culture and behavior, because Final Fantasy is a japanese game. The significance of holding hands with fingers interlocking (not sure how accurate it is) but they state "two people intertwining their fingers while holding hands is called 恋人つなぎ (koibito tsunagi, “lover’s connection”) in Japanese culture." And not only does that happen on Cloud and Aeriths date, it happens at the end of the final battle and is the trophy picture for completing said chapter. Cloud wanting photos of Aerith and him is a nod to Advent Children, cause in this movie Cloud didnt had any photo of Aerith.
Japanese people are very shy when it comes to kisses. Before western people came to japan, kiss on the lips was reserved for prostitutes and sexuality. Even today, married japanese people RARELY kiss on the lips! So Tifa and Cloud kissing is all about sexuality and also fanservice for the westerners, cause western love Cloti more. Japanese people love symbolism and body language and Clerith they love the most. Aerith is 'Moe' and Japanese have a Moe culture, which makes her favorite in japan. Cloti fans love everything that is on the surface. They think, a kiss on the lips seals the deal and makes Cloud and Tifa canon, which is not true.

Dont know what they said but in OG Cloud ends up with Tifa, sleeps with her the day before the last Battle and later they lived toghether and adopt children. And in Rebirth there are Two kisses and both are Cloud and Tifa. In OG there was a platonic LOVE interest and a LOVE triangle, in Remake that remained, but Rebirth has shown no LOVE interest whatsoever between the two. The date is with original Aerith and she ends Up saying she likes him but not that like of liking.

Edit: (Especially since apparently materia at least has the *ability* to safely hold a person, since Tifa seemed to be fine inside the Weapon's materia until it had been pierced and the mako started to choke her)
