Rappers feel like their money is perpetual. What baffles me is how Tyga managed to buy other cars and these dealers dont do a background check if he could afford it
They don't care. As long as Tyga puts up some money up-front, then they repossess the cars later and re-sell them. In all likelihood they sold to Tyga at an inflated price to begin with. Say some car retails for 100k, they say to Tyga my man this is a 120k car but you can drive it today if you give me 40G in cash today. We just set up a car loan for the other 80k. A month later Tyga misses payment, they take the car away and sell it again for 70k, which isn't difficult for a super car with only 300 miles on it. So for a bit extra hustle they managed to sell a car for 110k instead of 100.

My mother gave me a piece of advice that has always stuck with me. "Pay your bills first and anything left over is yours to keep". I'm still poor but I dont owe the Tax man a million dollars.
My parents both come from middle-income families, but have extended family members that were wealthy. They're really learned a lot from those family members, that money is fleeting. My Dad has a very successful career, we live very comfortably, but never over the top, even though we can afford it.
It's emotional insecurity/anxiety. They made a lot of money, and are too concerned about their self image. They felt pressured to buy fancy homes/cars, as they felt the pressure to look good and stay relevant.
@@AtonalApple that's the thing a LOT of these rapper were born POOR so they were never taught by anyone, on how to manage their money. (meanwhile people born rich have their family accountants and relatives to guide them on money matters)

I saw MC hammer at Heathrow a few years back around 2018. He was just walking alone at the airport, but wearing the most glorious pair of hammer pants I had ever seen. It took me some time to google him to make sure it was him and I wish I would have talked to him.
ngl, this is why i don’t understand how anyone took his side when the drama between him and his son was going down. like i get it, the kid was spoiled… but it’s not like 50 hasn’t done his fair share of dumb things. kids turn out the way they do in part because of their parents
man i really don't understand their obsessions with having billion rooms mansions like, what's the point (besides flaunting your money) like you're not even gonna use a tenth (i'm generous) of that house, so yeah really what's the point
It's interesting how different their scenarios and mindsets are. It ranges from narcissism-fueled extravagance, to habitual bad choices, naïvety, and simple misfortune. In particular, I like how down-to-earth and honest T-Pain was about his issues, and I respect 50 Cent's drive for coming back from what would have sunk a lot of other people in his position.
@Bbblackpenguin If you start pouring money out of your asshole for stupid things, don't be surprised when you end up broke. What did MC Hammer need with an entire stable full of prize winning horses? What is that other than simple greed, and vanity?
50 cent is industrious. He hustled on the streets and just learned a new hustle in the white collar stuff. Probably the kind of driven person who would always end up doing ok in whatever role life found fort him.
@@dkmrap1 I think he's just pointing out the irony of it. All these rappers rap about their luxurious lifestyles and how they spend tons of money, and fuck tons of women. But then we see firsthand the repercussion of those actions.
The weird thing is aswel that they pay massive rent,I saw some rapper was paying over 250k a month in rent for a mansion that you could buy outright for 60 million,so unless you were planning on staying less than 2 years in the house,it made no sense to rent and even if you bought it outright, you could either sell it and get your money back or just rent it out when you moved on,these people are dumb af
For real. You could earn 200k a month like most of these dudes but what´s the point when you have to watch 199k a month go to shit because you own 20 mansions and a payroll list of like 50 staff members 🤣🤣🤣
I remember hearing 50 Cent talk about his bankruptcy, and he talks about how people don’t know the difference between Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, where 7 is all about liquidation of the assets, and 11 is all about being legally allowed to take every penny out of one business, to restructure it into another, which is why he pulled out stacks of cash to take pictures with. He did it for one night, took the pictures so the IRS would see, and then he put it right back into another business lol. Actually a pretty smart move.
Yep, when you owe the bank 1 million dollars that's your problem, if you owe the bank 100 million dollars it's their problem. Rich people owing money is different to normal people owing money. When you're rich, it's in the loaners interest to keep you solvent and going so you can repay the loan.
I saw the show Thirty for Thirty on ESPN and the one episode was called BROKE and it was about sports players going broke after they were done playing like these rappers. And it was the worst in football and basketball where the most black players played.
Most of them have that level of education. Also, they don't understand the contracts they sign with labels and managers and think they actually have a lot more money than they really do.
@@players7686 Reminds of the quote from that German soccer player. Rough translation: "I spent most of my money on fast cars and women. The rest...I just wasted."
Honestly, 50 just seemed like he made some bad investments and eventually turned things around, unlike most of the other entries on the list who spent money recklessly.
If you did know, you're supposed to fight with them on everything on a bill. I've seen people argue from a $50k bill to a $5k bill. They just try to get everything they can, mostly from price gouging insurance companies. Some hospitals have a "bill forgiveness program" or something where some people literally can't ever pay off their bill, so the hospital forgives it and writes it off on taxes. At least I'm pretty sure that's true lol
In all honesty, I feel bad for these rappers going bankrupt but at the same time, these are people who never took responsibility in paying off the stuff that were lend to them. It's like a 'sorry not sorry' type of situation
@@Eastsid3 Yea but still can u imagine being a billionaire and paying a million a month for child support? I think the big issue is in many of these cases the child is so young he/she don't even know what money is so really it's the mom who's benefitting from it and burning up the money on herself not the child
"A study by researchers at Vanderbilt University found that 78% of former NFL players are either bankrupt or under financial stress within two years of retirement. The study also found that within five years of retirement, an estimated 60% of former NBA players are broke."
You know what the kicker is? All of those people likely had financial advisors. So either they had inept advisors, or more likely, they simply did not listen to the advice. Edit: Actually, I wonder how many on this video got screwed over by crooked advisors? Plenty of stories about such cases.
An accountant and a financial advisor aren't the same though. An accountant keeps track of what you have while a financial advisor advices where and how you should put your money. What it sounded like was that t-pain took financial advice from a bunch of rappers while ignoring what the only person who knew what he owned was telling him.
I dont understand why these people cannot be financially responsible. If i had millions of dollars i would not waste it on such frivolous things, money is far to valuble to throw around as if it is nothing.
As someone who is living paycheck to paycheck and can only dream of being financially stable enough to not worry about rent for once, I can't imagine how anyone can be this irresponsible. Like, maybe don't buy several extremely expensive vehicles/multiple homes.
It happens to sports stars, movie stars, lottery winners, basically anybody who suddenly becomes rich overnight. They rarely have the discipline to deal with that much money because, as strange as it sounds, they don't understand the value of it, so $40 million in their bank account looks like infinite money to them, and they start spending like it.
You're going to be alright. You just stumbled over a stone in the road. It means nothing. Your goal lies far beyond this, doesn't it? I'm sure you'll overcome this. You'll walk again...soon.
The saddest part is when your money goes you find out who your real friends are. One of my best friends in high school had a very generous father. He'd take not only his son's friends out and about (even to Europe for 2 weeks with an 'allowance' to spend), but also their girlfriends or just a friend of theirs. His dad hired some real estate guys that lied about their credentials and they did some shady things. Being his dad was the one legally responsible he ended up in jail and later died due to them thinking his diabetes was just a game. All those friends were really well-off to begin with told stories that his dad killed someone or worse. I wasn't a real close friend of his at the time, but we started hanging out during the mess. I asked my parents if he could live with us to finish off high school and they agreed. We only had room enough for a sleeping bag/air mattress in my brother and I's room as my mom and dad were both hospitalized the previous year and had to downsize (due to my dad's job firing all the senior staff to replace with those making fractions of the salaries since those that built the organization had made it sort of turn key). My friend graduated and ended up in Law Enforcement of all things focusing on going after gangs and organized crimes.
This was a nice read! Thanks for sharing and congratulations to your friend for making the best of a bad situation and congratulations to you for not being an awful human and giving your friend that safe place to land!
A huge part of the rapper image is throwing around money like it’s nothing, add in many don’t come from money or understand how to manage it and it’s a perfect storm.

Do a story on Unbox Therapy. Why one of the largest tech channels has died and why he is buying views for all his videos. Would be an interesting story for everyone!
Saddest part is that most of these people came from nothing and had no idea how to manage their finances. Instead of getting a good financial manager, they listened to their greedy fake friends.
after hearing and watching Tpains story, its sad that no one guided him, no one gave him advice. Im glad that he is happier and in a better position now.
I'm a big fan of The Rap Critic. In one of his yearly worst of the year lists he picked the Birdman lyric "there's money over everything. We motivated..." (I don't remember the song and I don't care). So seeing Birdman listed in here is kind of hilarious lol
What surprises me the most is being able to buy a $2 million dollar mansion that looks that good and big, on that much land in 2002. You can barely get an all-brick two story house for less than $750k today. Really puts inflation into perspective and the impending downfall of our civilization

Had no clue consumerism went so hard with Rappers. If they were smart they could've written off a few things to show it for work. I just can't imagine spending money I don't have on worthless cars that don't make me money. I always try to make sure I can pay most of my vehicle in full.
Its not rappers, its kind of their ethnic culture, to buy status symbols of freedoms. Why do you think they always go after the Bugatti, its not even a good car, its just a brand name, that means wealth, and to well African American culture, displays of wealth is freedom.
T-Pain explained it pretty well, their peers keep telling them that they'll never run out of money so they think it's okay to spend it all on crazy things.
How'd you have no idea? They're always rapping about their expensive chains and cars and their "bitches". I figured out they weren't the smartest when I realised that this was all they were rapping about (not all rappers though).
How do you have no clue rappers are so into consumerism? That's half the music that they make - bragging about their wealth. Of course they're going to spiral into debt and live a lifestyle that they can't afford - it's literally part of their brand.
The craziest part is that these guys could be taken care of living a good life with just a few or maybe one of the royalties from a good song but they get so bougie they lose it all and then some. It can happen to anyone.
Mostly because they became extremely rich in a short period of time and they are really young. so they still have the mentality that they are invincible and money will always be there. that's why most actual millionaires are old peeps, they have learned how to use money instead of being used by it

He did it for one night, took the pictures so the IRS would see, and then he put it right back into another business lol. Actually a pretty smart move.

Yeah having to file for chapter 11 as a superstar is real bright.

As someone who is living paycheck to paycheck and can only dream of being financially stable enough to not worry about rent for once, I can't imagine how anyone can be this irresponsible. Like, maybe don't buy several extremely expensive vehicles/multiple homes.
A couple thousand prevents me from seeing the love of my life. This behaviour is absolutely heinous to witness.
Meanwhile, Vanilla Ice is sitting back and laughing all the way to the bank.
