For better wording, it was GBB's fault for not giving proper sound checks imo. Killing well deserved moments with poor sound checks, just doesn't sit right with the idea of them being a Beatbox community.

I agree, I was there. Dice, especially in the first round, had a lot of sound issues. The rapping part in his first part is very very muddy unfortunately. Chris, on the other hand, was very consistent and impressed me. His voice shines on everything. It reminds me of Craig David. I would love to see a 20-minute showcase or more from him.

I really love Chris’s style and he is currently one of my favorite loopers. I see a lot of negative comments towards Chris, but I hope he continues looping at a high level.
As much as I love Dice, people sleep on Chris too much. All of his rounds were so enjoyable that year, his opponents just did stuff that were at a higher level. He made very little mistakes.

No, Chris didn't have enough substance in his songs. Not enough variation. Dice, however, did, but the effects didn't come out right live. Dice easily takes the cake here.

Showcase got more time to sound check... but in battle, they just got 1minute to prepare. It suck and hurt them and also us.... come on, GBB is a big competition and the best beatbox event for me!

In the livestream, Dice's issues were also much more apparent. In saying that, I still thought Dice won. The first round for Chris is so forgettable that I honestly had it tied up with Dice. Dice had big moments that worked out better and while he killed my ears, the rounds themselves made up for it. Chris was consistent in the first round but all I can ever remember is that it was a shoutout to Slizzer.
The second round still had some issues but aside from that had big moments. You can even see the crowd reacting quite well to it. Chris on the other hand went waaay overtime. Dice took the second round for me even though I enjoyed Chris' second round. The time is important. If it wasn't, I think that Soso would have made top 8.
I'll take your word for it. After all, DICE's sound sounds really powerful on the recording.

Honestly- first time i watched the video i was REALLY suprised that DICE lost, because i thought that the judges SURELY would prefer the more showwy, loud, EDM sound.
Your explanations help to make sense of why the things happened.
But honestly- i still VASTLY prefer Chris TheOdian just from a musical and vibe perspective, but i think everyone could see that noone expected that he would actually win that round

I think dice turned everything down to try and avoid feedback. Unfortunately it did not pay off.
Exactly, you can even see and hear it in the video, when he turns down his volume. He did what he can to avoid those issues, but it didn't worked out.
I felt like overall the gbb this year was a little messy somehow like in terms of the spot and the ideas it was great but stuff like that with dice kinda pissed me off

Idk, but for me, THEODIAN first round singing was mostly not on pitch, with the music, like the music background had different key, than what he is singing in..idk if it is the genre..but definitely make me skip his round each time i am watching the video..

i kinda feel bad for dice
So the judging panel doesn't know when a sound check hasn't happened? Or when its needed? They can't call to have a round restart when necessary? Dice simply got the boot because the panel didn't do anything and because soundcrew weren't adjusting the sound? I have no disses for Chris TheOdian, but this might be the first legitimately rigged battle in GBB. Dice lost because of a whole plethora of circumstances out of his control and the judges knew about.

When you think about it, the (deserving) champion battled two loopers who reused KBB material and one who didn't have rounds ready for a semi finals. And should've faced Brez instead.

@@exynomeus9561 Nah of course not. It's not wrong, but it means they were not able to prepare enough material for the GBB. Robin's rounds for example were not as good as in the KBB because they couldn't be as long.
lmao bro loopers spend tons of hours to make music and of course they will use it if they are good ? Spending 30 more hours to make new tracks while you already have good ones that you didn't use would make no sense and nearly every looper uses their rounds in many competitions. They even use their gbb wildcards as a round including biscuit

For me, i find extermely disrespectful that someone come to GBB with only 2 rounds, i really don't get it. There's plenty of people who would kill to get in the spot of elimintation, not mentionning the loopers already in the elim spots...
