    I can’t believe it but Hall looks great as a Hurricane. Great forechecking work ethic, the kind of player that Rod loves to coach. Rantanen saved a goal on one end and got his first point on a fantastic heads up pass.

    It's early, but Taylor Hall feels like he could be playing his way into an extension with the Canes. He very much has the look of a quintessential Canes role player on our top-6. Constant forechecking and can still skate strongly and drive play really well.

    If the current version of the Sabres isn't the most schizophrenic team in the history of the NHL, I don't know what team would be. They score first, they lose. They don't score first, they win. They lose to teams they really shouldn't lose to.(despite how bad they themselves seem to be). They beat teams they shouldn't beat. They lose after being up 2-0, 3-0 and 4-0. They beat several #1 goalies on "better than they are" teams. They almost always lose to some never heard of AHL goalie playing in a call up role on "better than they are" teams. They are just goofy. They are the NHL's version of Forest Gump's viewpoint on a box of chocolates...you never know what you're going to get.

    I know Stone didn't do it maliciously, but it was a dumb attempt to sell a trip and I'm gutted over what happened to Heiskanen as a result.

    • @JoshJoshJoshJoshJoshJoshua
      @JoshJoshJoshJoshJoshJoshua 8 дней назад +5

      Watch the overhead clip, he wasn't selling at all, Hintz genuinely snagged his skate hard and sent his left foot completely horizontal, and just like a car, if it suddenly turns sideways with forward momentum it's going flying

    • @Zharghar08
      @Zharghar08 8 дней назад +4

      @@JoshJoshJoshJoshJoshJoshua Actually you are both wrong, IMO. He does get snagged by Hintz which sends his foot back and up and causes his body to turn towards Miro. However, he managed to bring his skate back down flat on the ice (this can be seen at the more ice level angles). The trip was not powerful enough to send him flying on its own. His forward momentum slows down at that point. In that moment, he really has 3 options to make in like a quarter second:
      1) Drop to the knees. Likely draws the call.
      2) Fall forward naturally as he's leaning over and lost balance already. Maybe he bumps Miro with momentum but would likely do so at ice level which is less dangerous.
      3) Lunge forward to play the puck. Has to push off slightly in his unbalanced state to get enough momentum to reach.
      If you look closely, his stick is going for the puck, thus option 3. I 100% believe, as a Dallas fan, that he was attempting a hockey play thinking he could get that puck clean. It's the kind of play he makes often, he probably thought he could do it. Problem was that this time his option was also the most reckless. By pushing off he sends his body forward in the air, and unfortunately he misses his target and hits Miro's body with his own. And because he's in the air, his weight now crashes into the knee more than a normal side collision would, thus mondo injury.
      I don't really expect him to be able to parse how unsafe that play was in the moment, and because I think he was trying to make a hockey play, I don't think I can wish too much against him regarding fines or suspensions or whatever our fanbase is likely yelling right now. What I can say is that the trip did not propel himself that far forward, he chose to do that, the contact wasn't intentional, and it ended up being very reckless and ultimately very costly.
      That said, he broke our Miro, and had the gall to blame it on the trip and laugh about it. I would have no sad feelings if he ended up on LTIR permanently this season.

      @Diamondheartspadeclub 8 дней назад +5

      @@Zharghar08 I a Dallas fan agree with your statement, but I believe there should be a game suspension for the reckless reaction to the trip, I’d say it’s along the lines of Matt cooke’s suspension a while back against Barrie

    So this is why Hellybuyck is SO important. A Jets slow start. At times it seems to take the Jets about a half a period to get those legs in gear. Helly stands on his head and keeps them in. Then with about 9 minutes left in the first, the game kicks into gear. Thankfully it’s not every game….but it sure is key when it is!! Loved how the boos stopped when Schiefele scored lol. Guess they finally realized it wasn’t gonna do any good. Also Laine was invisible in that game. He maybe had one good try and that was it. Didn’t give him a PP to try!! Anyway great way to start a road trip!!!

    Every shift from Hall has been impactful with the Canes.... Playing a fast and heavy workhorse game - fits right in... He seems very motivated and cup hungry with his new squad. Rantz has not been bad either and I expect he will heat up sooner rather than later as well - when that happens look out... Svech seemed extremely motivated and HOT as well tonight. Goals from Jarvy and Fishy as well tonight. Anderson seems to be fully healthy and in the zone. Canes now have too many threats for most teams to fully contain it seems. I wouldn't want to be the team playing against them with the upgrades they now have. And they didn't even "get to their game" until the 3rd.

    I get the stats, I get the numbers, etc. but it’s not always on Gru with his losses. It’s either the offense or defense (or both) are just awful when Gru is in net vs. Daccord. There are games where he makes some unreal saves, but that will get overlooked due to the final score. Not saying none of it’s on him at all, but the team just does not play well in front of him most of the time he starts either…

I’m not and never have been a fan of Gru but he does get a terrible product in front of him every night he’s in net and his performances don’t help anything either. But if the team doesn’t want to show in front of him and they do with Joey, it’s a lot easier to get of one player rather than 20. I was hoping we would get rid of Gru and keep Driedger

Just looked like he caught an edge on the ice, his left ankle turned inward and he twisted awkwardly to the ice. Even Pionk looked concerned for the guy. So tough to see.
    Does it seem like there has been an increase in knee injuries this year? Maybe in the last few seasons? It seems a little crazy to me…the amount of these knee injuries across the league…Habs have been hit hard by them the last two seasons for sure. Would be interested to see the stats on this.

It was the slap of reality that the media (not the fans) needed who was trying to sell that the Rangers were shaking off their funk in 2025. You NEED talent to win a Stanley Cup. Right now, Panarin and Zibanejad should be ashamed for their lack of hustle on turnovers. At the end of the day, this Rangers team never addressed the following:
    1. Never fixed the first line. Since trading Buch, that line with Mika & Kreider has never worked.
    2. Can’t win without a physical defense: hate Trouba all you want but teams had trepidation from his hits. Lindgren sacrificed his body, will never be the same again. Miller, Fox….grew light on D.

Not long ago i did a llittle math and showed that Daccord's pace for points, if extrapolated over an 82 game season, made the Kraken a 97 point team, wheresas Grubauer would be a 45 point pace over 82 games. Idiotic, scummy from Mark Stone. As expected of Vegas and The Spleen himself. Yes, he was tripped. He also literally dove into Heiskanen's knees after the fact. Combined with the fact that Stone was on the bench laughing at what happened afterwards, and you can pretty well tell that it was every bit as nefarious as it looked.

    I think the Rangers are done for the season. That loss to Colorado in the final seconds took something out of them. They needed to get at least one point there and maybe even eek it out in the OT. They have been bravely winning and just edging out teams and getting points over the last month to climb back up in the standings, but I think they were still very fragile. I felt some extremely disappointed energy at the end of the Colorado game. And now the Carolina loss feels like it is back to how it was over a month ago. It just feels like this is not going to even be a playoff season for them.

    I'm just going to be honest here, my Avalanche lost me last night like the NFL lost me this season. How do you not have your games on TV? This streaming stuff is stupid, and it takes away from the people in their local communities around the franchises if they cannot watch their local teams play.
    Take those streaming dollars sports leagues, when you lose fans and have to drop your salary cap just remember you flipped off the fans.

    Isles turnaround over the past month has been incredible. Sorokin back to vezna form after a season and a half of sub-average play. Been dominant defensively, especially on the pk. Hold a league wide 2nd best pk since January 1st.
    Isles have scored 3+ goals in 8 of 11 games this month (the exceptions being 1-2 loss vs TOR, 2-1 win vs UTA, 0-2 loss vs OTT)
    Isles have held teams to 2 or less goals in 9 of the 11 games (5-4 win vs BOS, 5-3 loss vs PHI are the exceptions)
    Idk what happened but even if it’s only a temporary hot streak, the isles have looked like the team I loved from 2019-2021. Only difference is that we’re scoring more goals than we did back then. I don’t want to be over optimistic but as someone who’s also a Mets fan, it feels like the hockey equivalent of the Mets’ mid-season explosion from hopeless to contenders

    If the Sabres can make something of this home stand, then they are WAY back into this playoff race with the East still looking weak. That would be insane. Every team the Sabres needed to lose tonight did. 7 out of the next 10 games still are at home. GO SABRES!!

    Hasek will turn 60 soon. I still not get why HockeyGuy consider Hasek worse than Brodeur.. I made 70 saves shutdown evening..
    I found statis between Brodeur and Hasek matches head to head..
    Wins are almosst tied. In terms of individual performance during these games, Hašek had a save percentage of .933 and a goals-against average (GAA) of 2.22, whereas Brodeur recorded a save percentage of .896 and a GAA of 2.62. => 93.3%(Hasek) - 89.6%
    I dont even need to add that Buffalo had usually much worse roster than Devils.
    Now Hasek vs Roy:
    Dominik Hašek:
    Goals Against Average (GAA): 1.73
    Save Percentage: .938
    Shutouts: 6
    Patrick Roy:
    Goals Against Average (GAA): 2.34
    Save Percentage: .915
    Shutouts: 1
    + Hasek won over Roy in Nagano.
    He is numbers guy, but there is some Canadian stubbornness behind Roy myth..

    I don’t think I’ve ever disagreed really with your assessments, but to agree that stone was tripped and that’s why he went into Miro’s knee, is absurd. He may have had his skate “touched” but he was already moving forward to lunge when the skate was tapped. He knew what he was doing, and he knew he had an “out”. Bean should’ve broken his stick over his head again.

    I don’t give Stone that much credit. Was he a little off balance? Yes. But he looked like he was going more for Miro knee than the puck by the end of the play.
    Even if it was a complete accident, you don’t potentially injure someone like that and smile as you watch the replays on the bench.

    I am really glad you said something about Grubauer because I was thinking the same thing and wondering if I was just being obsessive or ridiculous. I've thought, for awhile, they could waive Grubauer to the AHL and pick up a goalie up on waivers with the savings. In fact, I was hoping they'd roll the dice with Primeau. Maybe he wouldn't work out, but what do they have to lose? Young player, still has potential, and his stats were about the same as Grubauer. If he doesn't work, send him down and he probably gets picked back up by Montreal. I used to defend Grubauer until Daccord came around last season. A goalie with a .900 save percentage would likely get us a few more wins and maybe we're pushing for a spot. This is the one frustration I have right now with the Kraken. I get it, he was supposed to be a franchise guy, but it isn't working and it's getting worse. I would love to see them just try something. Kakko was a good move. Sprong wasn't (but basically low/no risk so whatever), doing nothing here is definitely not a good move anymore.

    Everytime I see Gru is starting I immediately plug that in as a loss. If he is here for another start Kraken ownership should fire Francis. This is year 4 of bottom of the league goaltending from Gru. Only good run he had was the 22/23 playoffs and we only made the playoffs that year because Jones went on a run mid season when Gru didn’t play and piled up goals.
