  • Even though the forecast for this trip wasn't looking very good, I decided to go anyways. It was only 2 nights and how bad could the weather be? I was so grateful that I had decided to go after all, and had a spectacular time. You just never know what will happen, until you're out there.

    Your in your element. I enjoy that you really spend time getting to know your camp area instead of just putting miles on the canoe. "Browse Line" is the term that is used for the tree hemlines - caused by animals deer feeding when walking on ice or in the water.

      Lol. Thanks. It depends on the type of trip. Thanks for the term. A few people have mentioned it. Love learning as I go and appreciate the info. Cheers !

    Hi, I think the deer eat the cedars along the shoreline in the winter and they can only reach up so far up so it leaves that space .I’ve seen them and their tracks on our lake.

    Hi! I believe that was a Downy Woodpecker. The white patch on it's back is the clue. They are our smallest woodpeckers in Eastern Canada. Another great video! I'll watch part 3 tomorrow. Never stop!! 😊

    Cool vlog... Did you see/hear any loons?

    • @CamperChristina
      @CamperChristina  8 месяцев назад

      Thank you. 😊 This trip was done at the end of October. Loons are generally gone by then, as they fly south for the winter. Sadly, there were two of them on the lake, and one was crying and making horrible sounds,,which I talked about in part one and part three. Assuming it wasn’t strong enough to make the trip and was left behind. It most likely won’t survive the winter. Maybe you just watched part two? Thanks for commenting. Cheers !

    That 1455 meter portage into Ralph Bice lake ( or is that Butt Lake or Eagle Lake?? LOL) looks familiar. I had lunch there a few years ago.

    • @CamperChristina
      @CamperChristina  8 месяцев назад

      The 1455 is into Ralph Bice (butt). I don’t see eagle anywhere but i just have a topo map on my phone. Looks like a nice lunch spot. Cheers

      @camper69 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@CamperChristina Eagle Lake is the original name of Ralph Bice Lake. Ralph continued to call it that even after it was renamed Butt Lake. He would have hated the lake being named in his honour. 😅

    The cut off on the bottom of the trees is the winter snow line. Apparently the lake snow gets that deep!

      Funny, someone else commented that it’s from the deer, eating the foliage and that’s as high as they can reach. Lol.

      OMG @@CamperChristina !!! I LIED!!! LOL... no I was just misinformed. But after your comment I took myself to my trusty 'Trees in AP Park' to confirm.. YES!! it IS the deer browse line! Doh!

    • @camper69
      @camper69 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@CamperChristina Yes I recognise the browse line from deer. That kind of line is very noticable on the Ausable River in The Pinery Provincial Park.

      The browse line is a very common thing here in Maryland, deer do quite a number on the lower branches of trees! Interesting to see that there are deer in that part of the park however; generally speaking deer and moose do not overlap much (moose often succumb to a parasite that deer carry)...

    the little red tops on the moss is called british soldiers and is a lichen and not poisonous
