Having "Both Sides Now" play over the credits is brilliant. I don't know if it was an act of compassion to relieve the tension, or a final attempt to disorient and confuse us--but it was affective
Hopefully you saw the mother in the upper left corner of Peter's room (when he wakes up near the end of the movie) doing spider-woman impersonation this time around!
You pieced it all together decently at the end. I'll admit, it's a lot to decipher on first viewing. Yes, Charlie was always Paimon. The cult orchestrated everything to kill Charlie and weaken Peter so he could be Paimon's new host. They needed to sacrifice three people to invoke him properly (hence his symbol with 3 figures holding heads) and they did (grandmother, mother and daughter). There's a ton of details hidden throughout, reinforcing the cults involvement in basically everything. If you want more details, I can go on. Ari Aster went super deep on the details and it was a joy discovering them. Great reaction to a great movie. Can't wait for the next one.
That was the best damned reaction to Heredity I've ever seen. Bravo! Super impressed that you tried to decipher every facet of every scene. I didn't even begin to understand it until the third watch because the first two times I was too terrified to think. lol
This is by far the best reaction to this movie I've seen to date. The whole point of the movie is mental illness being Hereditary and is that what's happening or is it supernatural? And my favourite part of your video was at one point, you was just riffing with yourself thinking out loud why it could be one then countering it instantly then countering that and so forth 😅 On the second watch knowing how it ends, it almost appears obvious, but you now get to sit back and really appreciate just how well the film makes both outcomes possible 😊
The whole point of this movie is absolutely not mental illness mental illness has nothing to do with this movie, this movie is about a cult and Supernatural plain and simple
you handled this insanely cerebral and artsy horror drama so well, it was very entertaining! This movie really did re-define horror in my personal book of genres. Family trauma and unspoken hatred, bubbling under the surface until it can't possibly be contained, and you just have to saw your own head off. (Or change your environment!) Toni Collette was the absolute centerpiece of this film. So much hung on her to keep the story grounded in raw emotional reaction, even when it called on her to ignore how she felt. She was very sympathetic, even when you learn that she could have potentially ended her own life and the life of her children in a horrible nightmare-stated inferno. And Gabriel Byrne's father role was so understated and relatable as the one trying so valiantly to keep things 'on an even keel' like so many supportive parents do.
One of the few decently disturbing modern horror movies. Most stuff made these days is laughable but Ari Aster know how to make shots look extremely unsettling and distressing
There are lots of echos of Rosemary's Baby in Hereditary. This movie is more horror though, and Rosemary's Baby has some dark humor, is more of a thriller, and a much better movie overall.
@@CoolAsianGuy I guess you didn't understood the movie and the subtleties of the narrative. One of them, is the exposition of the mentality of a cult. Another, is the personal transformations of the main character.
The symbolism of Toni Collette’s character making miniatures/dolls and the cult using this family like they are playthings/miniatures is truly terrifying and interesting
this film is beyond disturbing, this one stayed with me for ages - i kept thinking about it, shiver. it is a really good depiction of intergenerational abuse and trauma the cycle of abuse that traps the family over and over. The mom escaped once but was pulled back in only for it to repeat on her children. The normalisation of abnormal behaviour, ignoring red flags and standing by doing nothing forced into passivity while abhorrent things are happening- imo the demonic possession is a metaphor for the evil of abuse, the abuse is the demon reflected in its monstrous behaviour and coercion inescapable as it is happening in the place that should be safest but is the centre of terror.
She did get the nomination for best supporting for The Sixth Sense. Totally deserved too. I haven't seen this reaction video or the full Hereditary yet, but I don't hesitate to believe you.
That year I predicted her and Christoph Waltz (for Inglorious bastards, I knew he'd win after the 1st scene, and I never saw him before I watched it) to win Oscars. 1 out of 2 isn't bad, but I was not the one who was wrong there!
The dinner scene was brutal, it was so uncomfortable like being in your best friends house when there's a massive argument. You can only sit there in uncomfortable stunned silence. The real horror of everyday life is just as frightening as the paranormal. Great Reaction ❤

I think Charlie is an incomplete vessel of Paimon hence the Blue Light that you kept seeing. That's Paimons power, probably also the one who influences the string of unfortunate events. She grew up not knowing that she's Paimon that's why I think shes always confused whenever she possessed her family.
This horror film’s supper scene is one of the greatest of all time. It’s right up there with the ones in Eraserhead (1977), and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974). Thanks for making videos eh.
Hereditary is my favorite movie of all time. It's the most emotionally realistic movie I've ever seen, and even though that's not necessarily something I want from a movie I loved it here. Your reaction is the best reaction I've seen to Hereditary too. I hope you watch it a second time some day because there's a lot to see and understand that really isn't obvious on first viewing.
The creepiest part of the movie for me was that moment at her grandma's funeral when she looks over her shoulder and that random guy with blond hair is staring at her and smiling.
Loved this reaction to a wild, crazy cool flick. I also enjoyed your Shining reaction... and please don't forget to react to the movie Doctor Sleep, as it is essentially it is The Shining part 2 and continues Danny's story :)
Since every reactor and their mother is watching "The Haunting of Hill House" miniseries for Halloween season, I would suggest going back to the source material instead and check out "The Haunting" from 1963. It is VERY close to the original novel and a bonafide classic by the director of "The Sound of Music" and other Hollywood greats. The miniseries is only loosely inspired by it. The movie is super creepy and doesn't need any CGI to give you the shivers.
@@geddoe316 I know right? I can't believe she went to her local community center and clubbed all those senior citizens to death... but she did! But don't worry, she's only serving a 6-month sentence.

When I first watched the movie. I initially was thinking, surely the movie is going to go the route that it's all in the mother's mind. But they went down the more "cosmic horror" route which kept me guessing. Another cosmic horror movie would be "Cabin in the Woods" it's a little more of a transitional scary movie. But it does reference a lot of other horror movies so maybe later viewing.
The cabin in the woods is in no way spoiling other films simply by having various monsters as Easter eggs. Great film, no reason to wait until all the horror has been viewed
