Love this guy's music! Genius. I came to David Olney's music through Townes Van Zandt, another great songwriter in my book who said that Olney "is one of the best" and he wasn't wrong.

This is the most touching liric I´ve ever heard for sure!! You´re great, David and sing it clearly enough to make it clear for everyone who has a heart. Thanks, Olney!! I wish that the MAN of Jerusalem bless you!!

I met David Olney many years ago in Asheville, North Carolina after one of his shows there. A lovely, gentle man.

I was on a bill with Kevin Welch years ago, and he covered this song. I'd never heard it before. It went deep, grabbed me - scared me.

First heard Bordertown, then this song, then brains. I'm now hooked. I think this is my new favorite singer.

Gives me shivers. The Emmylou Harris version also includes some Klezma touches....
    Surely Christ is risen!

Awesome rendition, always nice to hear the author perform their own songs, but Emmylou Harris' version blows the socks off of this one.

Respectively disagree, preferring David's presentation of his song. But we can agree that it is a great song. Great songs lead to great interpretations by many. This one of those.

Funny how things taste different. This one here tastes like mama's cooking. The other tastes like aunt Carol's cooking.
I loved my mama. We used to sit out on the front porch listening to all her old Emmylou records, newish then, looking out at the beautifully terrifying Birmingham steel mill sunsets.

That is the great Sergio Webb. There’s a great clip of him and Olney playing Little Mustang and Deeper Well on RUclips that is just the best. He’s a fine player.

I loved this song since Emmylou covered it in '93. It wasn't until Tim Grimm released "Dreaming of King Lear" that I discovered David Olney. Sadly, our world and our churches have a lot of people who know about Jesus, but don't really know him. check out Tim Grimm's tribute ruclips.net/video/Yu4UhXyhug0/видео.html
