- The first time our teams met him, in 1991, Alvero was nine years old. He took care of the old people of Bucaramanga. He washed them, gave them food, gave them love. Ten years later, we found him again. He has founded an old people’s citadel where he welcomes all the old ones of the city who have been abandoned, making their last days happy ones. -

Yes, Candace he is very much deserving to get the Nobel Peace Prize. No one can hardly do such noble works at his tender age when other children at his age are still being taken care of by their parents rather and look at this young good soul ,he is taking care of the abandoned aged people, I am touched by his gesture and works .I am from Shillong ,North East Meghalaya, India.While going through this video , I was thinking that why is he not the recipient of the International and prestigious award. I am appealing to you, let us find a way so that his benevolent and selfless works are being recognized by the World and then this will give others the inspiration esp in these days that the children forget how the parents sacrificed to bring them up and in returns ,they are being abandoned and forgotten. When I saw this Documentary, I couldn't believe what I saw. This young man deserves Nobel prize for his humanity and the compassion he shows on the elderly, downtrodden and neglected community. Yes, I agree. What a beautiful example of a life guided by God's love and service to others. Albeiro was nominated for the Nobel Prize in1992 by France (sadly no by Colombia). May God continue to use him and hopefully, we can also serve others as well.

He is now running an older folks home that was opened there and has children helping out but they must go to school to be considered one of his "guardian angels" he calls them. God surely does have his hand on this person. I can't even think about his kind generosity without swelling up with tears. He's truly a saint that God must be so proud of!.
This story touched my heart, Alveiro is a true angle. I read more about him, at the moment he is 40 years old and is a gerontology technologist and he has opened more than 65 homes for the elderly. We have a lot to learn from him. May god bless him.

When I first saw this he reminded me of Jesus. When Jesus went to the temple and he ended up teaching the priests he was about the same age 11 or12. Nothing but goodness in his heart. he’s organized and hard-working! His mother must be so proud!

I'm from Malaysia and I couldn't hold back my tears when I saw all these dear, old people. Knowing they were abandoned by their children is so heartbreaking. Thank God for people like Alveiro. God bless him mucho! I have an 85 year old mother being looked after by me and my wife. I could never imagine abandoning her like that! I pray God will turn the fortunes of Colombia around and that the government will recognise more angels like Alveiro.

WE HAVE TO MAKE THIS VIRAL! To say that this documentary brought tears to my eyes, is not enough. I am trying hard to find the right words to describe my feelings and I can't. I'm ashamed. We find excuses and we claim that it's just me and I am helpless to make a difference in this world and in comes this little boy with literally nothing to offer, living in inhuman conditions but he gives what he has: LOVE and he takes that love and shakes his world and he does make a difference and now that seed he planted is going beyond his initial dream. @Rosa Galindo Thank you for that back-story. "Angel" is definitely the proper term for this precious, caring boy (now a caring man). He was a loving grandchild to his own grandpa, and because of his wonderful Christian upbringing, he KNEW what needed to be done and he set about doing it. Bless his mother! He was quite influential in rounding up all the other little children to help deliver meals and care to the elderly. Hopefully, those children have gone on to pursue nursing or social-work kinds of occupations as they've grown into adulthood.

This young man is absolutely amazing. I couldn't stop weeping the whole time I watched the documentary. He has the heart and soul God is looking for in humans. It takes a child to teach the adults how to care for and love other people, especially the old people who were forsaken. If we all would do just a fraction of what he has done this world would be such a better place. May God watch over him and bless him richly.

Early in my childhood, every Saturday morning, my moms would always send me to help the elderly in our community. I remember when one elderly man gave me a dime for helping him. My moms made me feel so bad for accepting that dime; I quickly returned it to the elderly man. Although I thought I was helping them, it turned out I was learning wisdom and knowledge from them. It was a joy to come into their home and clean but learn. I understand this young man and it's always good to help those vulnerable in our communities. This young man is truly a blessing to all who encounter him. May God continue to bless this young man and his community. Very Inspiring story!

The elderly follow the 9yr old’s leadership. He organizes weekly activity for them in his age. He is doing very well with his group. He is right what he said, we need to give older peple the dignity and respect they deserve.
