- If an angel were to appear on Earth, what form would it take? In South America, it might be that of a small boy living in the shantytown of Ciudad del Norte in Bucara-manga, Colombia. In 1988, at the age of 9, Alveiro Vargas organized squads of children to spend their free time helping shut-ins who had been abandoned by their families. The children brought them food, bathed them, cleaned their hovels, solicited donations from local businesses and arranged for rent to be forgiven. Fast forward 10 years. It is 1998, and Alveiro is a 20-year-old young man. He is now director of a clean, modern care facility for 140 poor elderly people who would otherwise be homeless. The facility is a monument to the potential we all possess when we follow our heart. -

I grew up in Bucaramanga, Colombia around the same time and I heard about his work on the north part of the city. It's very cool that the internet has brought this story back to my memory.

Well the best thing for you to do, is take the "need" that you know about and make helping him with this endeavor part of your life's mission too. Feeling bad accomplishes nothing, BUT action does, and it will make your soul sing with happiness. Contact him and then get your friends together and do fund raisers.. you can do it!

Remember the children of these elderly, threw them out on the streets. So there are good and bad people everywhere. Most certainly Alberto has much to be proud of. He has down a fantastic job for the elderly in his community. People like Alberto should be funded, not the big NGO's that skim the money off the top to pay themselves handsomely, buying land rovers and other toys, while little makes it to those for which it was donated.
