The fact that this strictly secondhand account of scraps of video feed still allows so much of the characters to shine through is amazing. This series is so cool and honestly inspirational.
My favorite part of this is how the difference between Batman and Superman is shown in their effect on the situation; whereas Batman defeats both Scarecrow and Ivy, he leaves immediately, resulting in the deaths of both Crane and Isley and the injury of Harvey Bullock, and his rash handling of Freeze results in structural damage and casualties. Bruce leaves without trying to save anyone; Dick saves Bullock, but I'd guess he wasn't ordered to. Clark, on the other hand, diffuses the situation with Victor and saves numerous lives. Pretty cool way to show us what you've been talking about in your pitches; Batman stops criminals, but Clark helps people.
Not sure how “dead” crane and ivy are though? We know crane has a twin that he could have used as the fake body, and ivy could have all kinds of weird biological properties that let her regenerate herself but I don’t know how much she experimented with her body vs the plants?
I might be giving Batman too much credit, but I can imagine Batman is quietly panicking the whole time, since the situation is out of control from word go, and hyper focusing on stopping the criminals ASAP as the best means to save people. The only rub is that punching Poison Ivy isn't going to stop a structural collapse.
@@TheMechwar88 Maybe it's just me, but I always got this vibe that Landis's Bruce actually feels most calme & at home during these things. Like it's the one part of his day where he isn't thinking about all the tragedy, and he can just take a moment & breathe, letting Batman take the wheel.

I love this story- the way it was told, the story itself... the only thing I was disappointed in was the encounter between Superman and Victor. I remember it being simply Clark approaching Victor, trying to calm him down, Victor trying to kill Clark and being shocked when Clark survives being frozen solid. In the early tellings it was Clark doing what he does best (in this universe) and talking Victor down, not a punch thrown. This one is more... stereotypical punchy Superman even if he does EVENTUALLY talk him down.
Thank you for your attention to detail! Let me unpack the punch; it's important for this moment of physical violence to occur, not because it "ends Victor's rampage," but instead because the imagery of the punch becomes iconic in the universe of the Kryptonian Epic. Fries isn't a bizarre alien or a monster; he's a "supervillain," and it's the first time "Superman" has been seen fighting a "Supervillain." It falsely contextualizes Clark and Victor, who actually have a very complex dynamic, as flip sides of the same coin. The rising public acceptance of the hero/villain comic book dynamic is a key element of The Kryptonian Epic all the way up until the unmasking of Superman and Batman and arrest of Luthor at the end of SUPERMAN: FOR ALL MANKIND. The idea that Clark and Victor build and maintain a relationship that somehow exists separately from SUPERMAN's relationship to MR. FREEZE is a surreal delineation, and the splitting point of the two realities, public and private, is the single punch Clark hits Victor with, captured forever on camera from three angles. He is a character that brings a child into an environment he doesn't belong in and he punches a lot of people but doesn't really do anything or stop anyone or save anyone as people die around him. That being said, Clark spends most of this story stumbling around being unable to separate himself from Jimmy Olsen, not affecting the plot as people die around him. The stakes kept getting raised and Superman kept not showing up. To the point that by the time he did show up, most of the people who could have died in this incident already did.
Fair, but Clark didn't know what was going on, was stuck with Jimmy and repeatedly panicked. The American Alien Superman repeatedly fumbles and bumbles throughout the story when he's overwhelmed; he's only a truly competent superhero after he's trained by Batman in SUPERMAN: Agent Of Batman.
Really curious how the "PSLE" and "The Emperor" tie in later on in The Epic, I have a few ideas about who the General's meeting at Area 51. Good breadcrumbs for later pay-off, clearly it's someone who Luthor doesn't mind playing 2nd fiddle to and Waller is willing to work for, let's see if they're *from out of town*.
Thanks for another great story! kinda took the Burton ACE chemical and jammed the Batman & Robin nightmare + a load of other awesome shit together. Is it wrong to picture Arnie and Uma during this? Crane Lector-ing himself made me smile. Cheers!
The Emperor is already in Area 51, under the care of the PSLE. Nice that we learned what were the two "objects" that Manbat flew away with + the marine creature that got flushed away. Jervis Tetch is not invulnerable, but able to come back to life? Wonder what's that hybridization about. Deadshot is around, so this is before Superman Kills Deadshot.
Did the Volgun's SCP vids inspire this format of video?? I can't help but see the similarities. I'm even suspicious that the narrator might have done voice work with Bloody Disgusting's SCP Archive podcast.
God damn it Max, use their superhero names! I don't know every given name off the top of my head! I absolutely love that Mercy finally gets a mention though
I'm not suggesting any kind of plagiarism or anything, and I mean this has a compliment. I am getting a very similar vibe to the final act of The Cabin in the Woods. The System Purge sequence? The Army of Nightmares and their overloading of the headquarters? I'm curious if this was in any way an inspiration? Or, when you realized that you have all of these characters interacting in one epic story, did the notion of a complete supervillain clusterfuck seem like a cool, exciting, obvious idea?
That trope, a bunch of villains/monsters in one place, long predates cabin in the woods. I can think of about a dozen movies that have “a bunch of monsters get loose in one place“ has the third act setpiece, and this is definitely in that tradition! I’d prefer to think of something closer to the first Half Life in terms of escalation
Great job! This is one of the best ones yet. The presentation is simple and cool. Also, are Mercy and Gaias related because they both have the same last name, right? Not sure if this is a coincidence or perhaps I missed something.

I'm gonna have to take notes.
As someone from Hudson County, it's cool to hear that you set Gotham there. As always, I'm looking forward to more of the Kryptonian Epic!
Cheers!
No shadowban can stop me from watching this.
Been praying you’d do something like this
Take a drink every time the word “gesticulating” is spoken.
Max. You've just made the last half of my workday awesome!!! Salute brotha!!!!!!
Whatever WB's new direction for DC movies is, can it please just be this?
Holy shit! Amazing👏That young jeezy vid needs to happen!🤣
More kryptonian epic videos, please thank you very much your doing great with this as always
oh shit this is fantastic, I love that whole series!
Trying new things with medium and storytelling, all in a coherent way, so awesome
Is it bad that i have been listening to this to fall asleep for a week now?
I see (hear?) a lot of Chronicle in here.
Ace Chemical is a good positive work environment.
So, if you were concerned about the prose in your book writing- if its remotely like this then it's compelling as fuck.
PSLE = Project Starlight Emperor
I was also curious about this acronym.
Did the Volgun's SCP vids inspire this format of video?? I can't help but see the similarities. I'm even suspicious that the narrator might have done voice work with Bloody Disgusting's SCP Archive podcast.
Of course! It's meant to be an SCP tribute generally.
@@Uptomyknees Excellent point. And of course, no one did it better than, "Gremlins 2: The New Batch".
@@tonystark106422 my all time favorite!
Great job! This is one of the best ones yet. The presentation is simple and cool. Also, are Mercy and Gaias related because they both have the same last name, right? Not sure if this is a coincidence or perhaps I missed something.
Amazing entry into the epic!
That was amazing!!! 😄 I’d love to know what everyone was saying to each other

I have the bell on but didn’t get notified. This popped up in my home section. Wtf?
I am very clearly, very evidently shadow banned on RUclips. My videos, even ones involving content that a lot of people want, reliably gain views incredibly slowly and the majority of people say they don’t even know I’m still posting, and are often surprised to see a new video for me even though I’ve been posting semi-regularly for three years. It’s frustrating and a little defeating but at the same time I’m not doing this for money, it’s for love, so… Shrug
Same
@@Uptomyknees I pretty much only see it because I have the notifications on. BTW is this Shane Taylor?
Got my food ready. Lookin' forward to this!
How long before the night of the Killing Joke does this take place?
Who was Clayface working for as Dr. Leghari?
This takes place roughly 1 1/2 years before SUPERMAN: Agent Of Batman.
That's a great question.
I have added this to my Kryptonian Epic Playlist. Please watch it
Good palette cleanser after watching Black Adam
I hope to create something half as detailed and high quality as The Kryptonian Epic someday.
Is that Brendaniel? Did you get Brendaniel?! You're really moving up in the world.
Incredible work!
snake... snake... SNAAAAAAKE!
I just wanna thank you!!!!!!!!!
You're welcome!
Damn. I gotta clock in soon. I know what I'm doing after work.
Sweet jesssssussss! Christmas has come early!!!!
Awesome as always Max
So HYPED!
Sounds like a "Surviving edged weapons" guy
God, I can’t wait to see what they actually said
Meme God Aaron Scott
My day has been made
i’ve been trying to get into this universe, since I loved american alien. how do you recommend i go about that, is there like a specific order or can I just watch whatever
like if this was an omnibus what order would the projects go in
Start with Agent Of Batman.
@@Uptomyknees alright thanks. ive heard the entry barrier for this series is high so i’m trying to figure out what to watch when. thanks again
Is the video silent for anybody else?
Has Max done any of the "American Alien Universe" in his golden pitch style?
Start with Agent Of Batman.
Omg hi Maxy UwU
Thanks for the tip, fucking love your pitch videos. They're my favorite type of content you make, and I never would have gotten into writing the way I did if I hadn't been inspired by them. I have you to thank for this D&D project I was hired to edit which I can't talk about too much because I had to sign an NDA but uh yeah gang gang 🤙🏾
God fucking damnit, Max, I had shit to do today. I don't even like capeshit, man!
Otisburg? OTISburg?!
I have so many questions though
ask them!
Let's go!
1:55:40 wtf did he just say??
So, why did lex save Jimmy? some humanity in the monster, or a calculated move to control a member of the media?
Also, I thought you mentioned how fries was put in jail, and that lex still had his wife in a separate video. did you decide to change that?
Probably a little of both. Lex won't be much of a messiah figure if he didn't do the bare minimum to save people
This government agent being unable to identify a stripper is hilarious. Also for verisimilitude, it's just Jeezy now, he dropped the Young lol.
Arleen Adams is not a stripper. This is technically the first time the world saw Harley Quinn.
@@Uptomyknees Arleen Adams!? I love it! And my bad on the assumption. I got stoned and back to backed this and "The Death of Batman". Seriously, bravo!
criminly underwatched
An APB on the POI in the FBI SUV dressed as GCPD?
The Emperor ???
The physicist is Austrian. Do you have some connection to Austria? Or why did you choose Austria?
ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER BABY
Question: is vigilante 2 dick or Jason, I don't have where this falls in the timeline exactly straight, but I think it's Jason
That's Dick!
@@Uptomyknees gotcha, thanks
Whats the psle
Project Starlight Emperor (but I don't remember what that means in the context of The Kryptonian Epic.)
