*RARE 5x Traffic Units & Ambulance Officer Responding in Heavy Traffic

- Here we have a relatively rare sighting of 5 Police Traffic Vehicles consisting of 3 BMW X5s a BMW 330D and a BMW R1200RT fighting in almost completely still traffic alongside a Marked Ambulance Officer Car on the M8 in Glasgow.
Apologies for the shaking throughout, the wind and the cold made my hands a tad numb, also for not focusing on the ambulance officer properly at a point, i forgot about the zoom for a second.
NOTE: All Footage shown is my own work and therefore copyrighted, any attempt at infringement will result in action being taken against the offender.

Perfect example of no hard shoulder causing the problem, before smart motorways the emergency services ran the hard shoulder to get to incidents. The delay shown here is unacceptable
On the M8, the hard shoulder is used as an additional lane during peak times to reduce congestion.
@@duncanscott576 Where on the M8?? This looks like heading Westbound between Junction 15 & 16, which has very little hard shoulder.
@@TopherT1985 They should close the outside lane on the other side and allow emergency services to use that
@@pauleric8799 Even in ordinary circumstances you can't rely on drivers to abide by lane closures. It's unfortunate, but it shows there is no alternative for a hard shoulder.
This road design is UNSUSTAINABLE.
If only we had motorways with a lane in case people broke down or emergency vehicles needed to get through.... Oh yeah we did and someone decided to do away with them.... Really working well.
The “smart” motorway is really bad
If ever there was proof that ALL motorways need a dedicated lane for Emergency vehicles, here it is.!!!
Road users in the UK have seriously become inept at moving out of the way for emergency vehicles!

They can move left or right there is space, some of them even moved into the empty spaces made for the emergency services to get past! Shame you cannot see it. You may have been one of those drivers . 🤨

Guy in the white ‘Harveys’ van looked to be making better progress through the traffic than the emergency services! Every one of them had to battle through even after the first couple cleared a path 😡
The third BMW X5 and 330D at 2:26 come with the Gaelic Poileas for police, the new PR policy of Police Scotland.
I noticed that and had to Google it. Never seen that before
It's clear drivers have not got a blood clue!!!
Problem here is too many damn cars on the road. And not enough road way. You got to lose one or the other. me thinks lose the amount of cars uk has.
I can remember playing Football or Kerbsy as a kid on the road outside my house. Now you can't even cross the road because of the amount of traffic or without some muppet speeding past!

Euan's Emergency Photography they were responding to an 11 car rtc that closed the road and there was 5 fire appliances and SORT unit and about 2 TRISS units or they were going to a 5 car RTC at Glasgow airport

Euan's Emergency Photography yea 2 were taken to the hospital but with non life threatening injuries but it’s a good job cause that could’ve been more fatal
Why not use the hard shoulder?

Doesn’t look like there is one, emergency vehicles always stay in the fast lane + if they stayed left it would have taken them up the slip road.
Because UK ‘smart motorways’ don’t have a hard shoulder. Good one highways England. 👏🏼👏🏼
