Are You Confused? AirSense 10 Models Explained

- In this video i explain the differences between the ResMed AirSense 10 CPAP & APAP Models
The AirSense 10 has 2 x CPAP Models
1. The CPAP (base model)
2. The Elite CPAP (premium model)
The Elite has 'advanced event detection' . Basically this means it can detect more complex forms of sleep disordered breathing like central apnea, CSR (cheyne stokes respiration) & RERA's (respiratory effort related arousals).
Now although it can detect these more complex events, the therapy remains exactly the same for both CPAP models. There's no difference in the pressure delivery. It's really just for reporting.
The Elite also has more detailed data or the SD card and high resolution flow information. The Base CPAP only has basic compliance and summary data.
The AirSense 10 also comes in 2 APAP models (automatic cpap models)
1. The Autoset
2. The Autoset 'For Her'
There's only one meaningful difference here and that is the Autoset for her has an additional 'for her' mode which utilises a different 'for her' algorithm which adjusts the pressure at a slower rate over time.

I just bought an Airsense 10 Elite 4 months ago and I love it especially with the P10 nasal mask.
Worth noting: the only difference between any of these machines is software. Every airsense machine is essentially identical at the hardware level. The same machine that does basic cpap with no detailed logging can, with just a software change, do any other the other modes.
It's not easy to do though. I think Nick has done videos on it.... You need to disassemble the machine and use a firmware programming device plus "pirated" roms to flash onto the board.
Still... Its a little ridiculous they sell the same machine as cpap, apap, bilevel and asv with only cosmetic difference and thousands in price increase.

Every 3 years my private health will rebate $1000. It was a no-brainer to buy an AirSense S10 Elite say 2 years ago. I still use my S9s. Later I got an e-mail about no data received. Through your video/s I realised without knowing of the modem. I'm soon to deploy the S10 when I disconnect the modem (again via your video). I appreciate your valuable advice. Long live Ventnor Street, now changed to King Street.

I'm currently awaiting receiving my Airsense 10. I'm very excited to see how my sleep improves from treatment or at least start the journey.
I recently watched this video and you mentioned that you don't get all the in depth data from a base model Airsense 10 CPAP.
Will I get the basic necessary data to be able to use Oscar or Sleephq to make any beneficial changes to my pressure if it becomes necessary?
If it were up to me and not just my Insurance I would have bought the Elite but I'm pretty sure I'll just be getting the base model.

Update - I just received my Airsense 10 and it's actually the 10 Autoset. I rewatched the video and answered my own question.
They set it up as Auto with pressure of 4-20. I thought they would have set it to a specific range. Maybe they expect to make adjustments after reviewing data as I use it over time.

Though there is also central sleep apnea which has nothing to do with airway obstruction.

I have an air curve ASV. What is the difference between an air sense and an air curve?
What about Air C Plus 0648 Bipap?
Would this program work with the BYOND brand of APAP? It is what I was given for my sleep apnea.

I have a question: if I purchase a Resmed For Her CPAP, can I select it to work as an Airsense 10 Autoset, that is, can I select that it automatically works with the standard algorithm instead of the "For Her" algorithm?

I’m still unsure what to get resmed10 or fisher & paykel? The machines are the same price in Oz. I have moderate sleep apnea. I feel resmed 10 has more functions but should I care because i have moderate sleep apnea? I tried both. I’m on a pressure of 6 and I find resmed10 more agressive in the ramping. Can I please have your thoughts for a penny? Does one machine perform better with its humidity? I’m lost. I watched one of your video comparing few cpap brands and Fischer and Paykel was 2nd best with their algorithm but i will have to make sure I get a 4G.I feel ok with both machine (resmed10 and F&P) i guess i want the best value for money… because i can’t afford the new resmed
I'm a guy and I have a resmed S9 CPAP 'for her' (which is my spare machine). When I bought it, I was told that the only thing that made it "for her" was the exterior color and there were no other differences between it and the standard version. Since it's strictly CPAP and not APAP, perhaps that's true but the more I learn watching your channel, the more I question the information I was originally given. Can you please shed some light on this? Are there other differences between the standard and 'for her' S9 CPAP models? If so, what are they? Many thanks.
G'day Ronnie, your testing my knowledge as this goes back some time now but i believe the S9 for her was the same as standard back then and the only difference was cosmetic. This changed in the AS10. I'm not 100% on this but pretty sure. Cheers

My main machine is a brand-spanking new Airsense 11 (autoset), which I would not have felt confident enough to buy without your incredible guidance and information. I have haitus hernia and it casuing weakness in my diaphragm sometimes my breath stops when sleeping will cpap help me breath during sleep?
What is the different between Aircurve And airsense series

I was diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea, my doctor suggest me to wear oral appliance, but I don't like having an extra stuff in my mouth. So I go to a local resmed distributor and tried both machines.
Since the price different was small (around Usd300) and the breathing was more comfortable, so I paid in full for a pre order, as the shop promised I can receive it within one month.
Unfortunately, after one month the pre-order unit was not ready, so the shop offered a free loan of airsense for me until my prepaid aircurve was ready for pickup.
Now is three months after free loan period, and no news on the expected arrival time of my aircurve.
I don't know whether I was lucky enough, bacause of the shortage of supply chain. Hong Kong is different from western, as both oral appliance and cpap machine can't be claimed for health insurance, otherwise I will have an economic incentive to to a particular way of treating my sleep apnea.
Anyway, I will wait for my prepaid unit because of the incentives of free loan machine, I can use a free machine for free while waiting for a new machine to arrive (I will have longer time with CPAP for the same price paid).

So basically does this mean you're better off buying a 'for her' model then you have the versatility to choose whichever algorithm suits you better?

Which model is the card to cloud?
It was released after this video but it's the Autoset (just without a cellular modem - It has SD card functionality though). You wouldn't be able to use ResMed apps. Cheers

We're in airsense 11 now. Why bother talking about ancient models?
Because there is still lots of 10s still to be bought by new users and 11s are not freely available.
No were not, there's more AirSense 10 machines being sold now than ever before.
