Making this DYI project now. Plywood was $49 and stain $19. Rented a saw table for $49 for 4 hours. Definitely a full day project sanding and staining take the longest time.
Better if you use an orbital sander in the whole panel and stain or paint it as a whole, then cut them to size. Place them all to a side, clamp them to make a one piece again, sand and stain; same with the other side. Now, for a less trouble with cutting and carrying from the store: Buy wood boards, they have a better side finish than plywood. Cut, clamp, sand, stain, repeat...👍🏻The sense of satisfaction once you finish is the goal.
Small detail which I appreciate is what you did to the bottom. I've been trying to solve for the height of my wall and you've just provided the solution by doing a horizontal design at the base. Love it!
nice... Now that it's been months since your post, I'm curious to know if the strips are still holding up. Pin nailing stips into drywall don't seem to stay pinned for long.
They should be still. We actually both individual strips on for our accent wall from Home Depot and nailed them into the drywall. This was in 2023 and they are still hanging!
Not anymore, an employee literally chopped of several fingers a couple of weeks ago. The idea being sawing material was for customers to fit the item if it was too big. They now recommend you rent out the machines found in the rental area at Home Depot!
The cheapest way , is it ? It will have 48 pieces and if we put 3/4 inches space , we got 80 inches wide , I bought 24 inches cost about 130at Wayfair . So 70 against 440, and whole lot time
Plywood is a good pick, especially for a bathroom, sand the corners a bit, and if the slats are spaced close enough you wont even see that nasty ply on the edge.
I see people use plywood sheets. I used 2x4s. Not sure what the difference would be other than price. Plywood could be considered more stable, but you better not get it wet. Plus the plywood end grain is terrible for painting/staining.

looks great, i never thought to use plywood, people don't understand 1x2 firring strips are softwood and the surface is really ugly. your way you get a veneer AND it's cheaper than using pure hardwood strips. the only thing I would do different is use a smaller gap, and I would see how I could make the wall behind it flat even if I have to mud it or use a wood panel behind it. I'd also try a flat black color. minor gripes, you did great!
Yeah well the cheapest walnut veneer i found was $16 for 2" x 50 feet... And im gonna need like 20 feet of veneer to do 3 sides of each of the 100 boards that are $5 each... So im looking at over a $1000 for the project im about to do... vs $100 for stained plywood. I just wish that i had a table saw and wasnt living in an apartment :)
@@GwynBleys I have the Harbor Freight Hercules contractor table saw for $300 when it's on sale. it actually has great reviews. the apartment thing I can't help with. You could get away with it if you resaw your veneer with a bandsaw though, plus it's safer. yeah I saw the veneer prices and started researching how to do it myself. so far by research has led me to rockler woodworking, they have really nice bandsaws for sale. I first looked in Grizzley bandsaws but the reviews are atrocious, they no longer care about the customers plus the reliability fell off a cliff. rockler has nice drum sanders
Looks amazing what did u do with the corners of the plywood what have different wood showing and stain with different shades? Also what stain is this? Thanks
She might be confusing "sanded" with "Sande" plywood, which is an affordable plywood HD sells. It's somewhat presentable, as in not the lowest construction-grade. But it's kinda powdery and iffy to work with.
a sheet of 18mm plywood is currently £45. I think I would put 3 slats horizontal first, 1 at top, 1 at middle and 1 at the bottom, paint them grey so the blend in to the wall and the you would have supprt for the vertical slats
Also how did you secure these nails to the dry wall? Over time the could loosen and your slats will fall off the wall. You need to be nailing into a stud or using some sort of construction adhesive. Last I noticed that far left slat is a bit close to that light this could be a potential fire hazard. Just a few things I thought I would bring to your attention project turned out great otherwise.
If you buy for 2$ intead of using a 2000$ Saw table, that means the title is not misleading. And that is banned by RUclips terms. Just joking ... or not.
it's obvious if you understand types of wood. 1x2 strips are called firring, it's made with the cheapest softwood, warps easily, lots of knots. SHE is using a smarter way , the face of her sheets is stain grade , much prettier and the wood does not warp easily because it's stable because of the layers glued together. her way is by far smarter. the only downside is that it is veneer

You can get the board for like $100
I wonder if sanding staining before cut wood make the process go quicker
Does home depot rent the saw table ?
Love the color and texture. 🎉🎉🎉
Doing this today 👍🏿
How did you know where the stud? or you just nail it even without the stud?
if you buy 1 panel it will cost you around 90. and will take 2 minutes to install,

Anyone know the track that's playing
Artist is iniko. Song is kings affirmation.
its my dream to have a home workshop, love these DIY crafting
That sheet of plywood would cost me tripple if not more.
Looks nice what stain you use on the wood ?
Yes
Can any of the stores cut the wood for you if you don’t have a saw?
Home depot does it
Not anymore, an employee literally chopped of several fingers a couple of weeks ago. The idea being sawing material was for customers to fit the item if it was too big. They now recommend you rent out the machines found in the rental area at Home Depot!
Wow it looks amazing
Thank you!

Love the look! What color wood stain did you use? Thank you.
I love the stain color. Can you share what color you used? Looks amazing!
That’s walnut
One single panel in B&Q 99e. And U just glue them to the wall
Not worth extra time in my opinion….
Looks good tho…
Do you have detailed step by step video?
And Also product links especially for trim and tools needed?
Plywood is a good pick, especially for a bathroom, sand the corners a bit, and if the slats are spaced close enough you wont even see that nasty ply on the edge.
How exactly did you hide the nails. Im confused. I thought you nail it from the front
Putty that covers nail holes.
Drywall I’m guessing. Not that easy to nail on brick and mortar.
What’s the thickness of that plywood? 1 inch? 3/4 inch?
What color is the stain you used?
So almost none of those are attached to a stud? Just a dinky little nail in some drywall? It won’t hold up long
Is that a brad nailer or pin nailer on drywall ?
Thanks and looks great !
Would command strips hold them ?
Wow. Looks amazing 👏
How long does it take to dust every week?
Use a father feather duster
What's the name of tool used?
What did you do to the plywood sides, how are they looking?
They would look like shit
Same question
whats the song?
Dust container decoration 🤣
Wow,well done great job
Which stain color
Do you have a video on wood straining? Thanks.
Very pretty! I would've centered it though to make it a center focal point, but I like a symmetrical look.
What calibre did you use to nail the wood to the wall?
likely 23 gauge is all you need
The last time I could buy a sheet of sanded plywood at Home Depot for $25, RUclips didn't exist.
AHAHAHAHA I KNOW
😂 I caught wood on sale at home depot last week
Wow, Looking so beautiful! Cool. Great Job!👌🏽👍🏼🥰
wow
looks awesome! I just did this in one my investment properties.
Hi, what stain did you use on your wood ????
Can you nail directly into plasterboard like that? Won't it crack....
Music was unbearable but the project was good.
Does the nail gun leave marks on the wood?
It should, u will have to fill the hole. Sand it and stain that small area
I see people use plywood sheets. I used 2x4s. Not sure what the difference would be other than price. Plywood could be considered more stable, but you better not get it wet. Plus the plywood end grain is terrible for painting/staining.
what type of nail gun did you use to penetrate through brick wall?

Hummm nailing into dry wall? There are no studs at every 3/4 inch.
I love it. Thanks for sharing
Welcome
How much price and where is it available??
Very impressive. One question, if you had the chance, would you do it again?
looks great they are not sound proof lol but look great
Why didn’t you buy just the slats? Surely 1”x1/2” ‘mouldings’, would have been so much easier?
What size are the wood slats thickness depth. Tia
Really want to do this in my living room!!!
Hi ,is the gap/spacer 1 inch too? (1 inch slat and 1 inch gap?) I am doing mine as well and i love what you did here😍
Where tf you find $25 plywood?!
This seems to be the only design style you know.
Wow..I am excited to try it on my own! love it
looks nice but worried more things to dust now between those wood beams
i don't have a table saw...aughhh!
Did you use any glue or just nail gun?
What colour did you stain the wood with?

A real woman with much power ❤ keep going!
Tank u for your help . I do it at home the same way. 🤩
r u using screws ?
Please good job full video please
What stain did you use?
I love how you use one of the woods to make it even
Wow.. tests cool idea.
Looks amazing what did u do with the corners of the plywood what have different wood showing and stain with different shades? Also what stain is this? Thanks
I think I’m obsessed with your account
Nice job! 😎
way too much work, they sell premade slat boards on felt backing for $100. worth it imo.
Yeah but its 1ft x 8ft for $100 u do the math
Affordable.. step 2: use table saw
Ok
How do you attach them to the wall?
What stain did you use ?!?
Sanded plywood for $25!? Wild! It’s around $70 where I’m at
She might be confusing "sanded" with "Sande" plywood, which is an affordable plywood HD sells. It's somewhat presentable, as in not the lowest construction-grade. But it's kinda powdery and iffy to work with.
Turned out so good.
It surprising looks really good but why is it so close to the light fixture?
How much did the nail gun and table saw cost?
Very smart. Looks great
Yoooo! dope panel, fire ass music to what’s the artist?
Artist is iniko. Song is kings affirmation. At least that’s the original. It’s been remixed a lot by various artists.
Nice
What color is that paint?
Love it ! I’m currently trying to do the same. Much cheaper and looks fantastic
Looks good.
music 🥲?

Yes, because everyone has a table saw at home 🙄
Nice... Very nice....
Very cool 😎

😍😍😍
Any reason of building the slats when you can get it for 2$ per slat at home depot ?
