The thing about REC, is that this isn’t just some zombie movie, it’s a take on the belief of supernatural workings that can be quite typical around Spain or even Mexico itself, they are topics that are quite brought upon with either movies, the media itself and gossip in the streets.
It’s a good mix on what could be a “zombie” outbreak by supernatural means

The firefighters at the station are actual firefighters except the two main guys (the bald Manu and the one who fell down the stairs), they are actors. I'm so glad y'all got to watch rec first because there's an english remake called quarantine. Comparing the two movies, rec is the superior film. Quarantine could have been a creatively crafted remake solely for recreating almost the entire movie of rec, scene by scene with incredible accuracy. Although the problem is that the director for quarantine gave no credit to the movie rec, and claimed his movie was "original." He also claims to have never seen or heard of rec, despite quarantine looking like an english dub of rec with the brightness turned up. Just thought this would be a fun fact for anyone interested, enjoy.

@@jesusrivas89 No, I didn't particularly care for *[•REC]³: Génesis* as the movie went with this really cheesy feel for a horror movie series that until that point took itself serious. It was a complete shift of tone, the whole thing started becoming more of a parody of itself as the movie went along and I was very disappointed for something could have been so much better.
As for *[•REC]⁴* it was so-so, in my opinion. While not a huge disappointment like the previous movie in the series, it at least felt like the tone had shifted back to a more serious one (thank god), and it at least brought a conclusion to the story of the series, a conclusion which while a bit underwhelming, still felt like it was much needed because the series started derailing itself from the great horror movie premise that started with the 1st film.

[REC]2 is worth checking out as it dives more into the story started here. But the 3rd and 4th installments take a pretty sad turn as it goes into very Army Of Darkness type of comedy/horror, which I feel ruined what was so great about the first 2 films. You can watch the 2nd and stop and you will get all you need from the series.

At the back of their uniform it says Ajuntament de Barcelona Bombers, it's in Catalan, meaning fire fighters/firemen of Barcelona City Council. Bombers in Catalan is bombero in Spanish.
The subtitles just lack the expressiveness of Spanish, including the swear words which makes it more expressive hahaha

Spanish in Spain is a different dialect than most Latin American Spanish. Cursing is also part of their vocabulary. Growing up I was told Spanish shows and movies rarely show in Puerto Rico tv if ever cause of all the cursing. The subtitles in this movie are so censored! These people curse in almost every sentence and the subtitles don't show it! 😂

This is for the Mrs., when Mr. said "up & down" for the violation the reporter made while playing basketball, he was right as well. Technically in the NBA, it is a form of traveling. Everyone I know who played basketball growing up called it "up & down", not a travel.
I even looked it up on Google and Quora just to see if it was just my specific region, or if it was universal knowledge. Based on my findings, it is pretty much universal.
P.S. The NBA also changed the traveling rule in 2009 (to benefit Lebron James) from 2 steps to 3 steps allowed after picking up the dribble. It is technically called a gather, and then 2 additional steps, but the reality is it is 3 steps.
