+Debeee Those presser foot system can go stiff. You need to lubricate those parts and it should work as normal again. Only use a pure fine sewing machine oil. Make sure you don't overheat your machine with the hair dryer. You've a lot of delicate plastic parts.
thank you so much for replying. I need to correct the problem description. it is the lowering of the presser foot that I end up pulling down to hold the fabric in place. sorry for the confusion. I haven't used it for awhile. I'm using my little gem gold but I'd love to get back to the pfaff.
Do you still have this machine? I have a 332 with the exact same zigzag mechanism. Can't figure out what the horizontal (left center right) chrome lever below the horizontal ivory/white wheel is supposed to do. I can't find any instruction manual with these mechanisms. Do you have any advice? Thanks
My needle up down is barely functioning. Very very slowly. My pfaff is newer than your demo model but i hope you can help anyway. Very nice video. I especially like the use of the dryer.
ahhh, I thought it was all better. after warming and exercising the presser foot mechanism, spritzing with canned air and adding clean sewing machine oil, it was functioning correctly. but now, after turning it off for a couple hours, it's as it was, extremely slow to lower. do you know this model? how to get the top off so I can get at it better? the screws are not Phillips or flat but I can probably find the right kind.
it's a pfaff tiptronic 6270. It goes down so slowly that I have to pull it down so the feet hold the fabric down. is this pneumatic or hydraulic? because it's like when a door at work, with a tubelike mechanism on top, closes unusually slowly.
I was given a portable PFAFF, Festival 135 6122. the lever that lifts the pressor foot does not appear to work. The pressor foot is in the up position and I am unable to lower it. The lever does move up and down, but it is not engaging. Do you have any thoughts on why this would be? Thanks so much.
+Celine Beers Seems like you need some oiling on your presser foot bar. Only use a fine sewing machine oil. You may need to help lower the presser foot very gently. You can always ask me a question at absolutesewingmachines.com/.
I used the dryer to heat up the presser foot shaft and it's all better! fantastic! thanks so much!

+Debeee What model? When the fly wheel is not locked, does your motor run slow then. Sometimes the bushes on the motor can be dry and run stiff.

I think you would call it a spring, though it is flat. There ate 3 on the right side of the machine when you take the top off.
