My thread is catching under the hook not over and between the two plates. I think it is dropping too early and as the hook comes around the needle has not raised enough so the hook is grabbing the thread and wrapping it around the shaft. Do I need to adjust it so the needle drops down at the hook not up?
I am in the process of unfreezing and cleaning my zig zag assembly on my Pfaff 130. The timing is ok but having a visual of the timing set up is helpful to me. Thank you! Will you make a video of setting the zig zag?
Hi I have a pfaff 138 which I’ve had for years and I’ve never really used it to much because it would always skip a stitch or the zig zag wouldn’t work. Or it just didn’t sound smooth… any tips? Not sure if I should keep it or sell it. I sew mostly clothing, and also got a old singer 20u industrial sewing machine that works. But also has issues with the zigzag portion not connecting or skipping threads. But I use it more. Not sure which to keep or keep both haha. Would this tutorial work for the 138 machine?
The Pfaff 138 is an upgraded over the 130 with two thread paths with associated tension adjusters. You would need a service manual for bobbin hook to needle adjustments. When you lubricant, keep oil off the timing belt, which is layers of nylon thread with metal cleats. No replacements are available. There was a fellow on eBay that would re build them from your old one.
Hello, I just got a Pfaff 130-6. It has two plugs (light, motor) that plug into a outlet beside the machine. The outlet then goes to a knee controller then the plug for the wall. The wiring is bad and I would like to update it. I saw one video were the repairman says the electrical is different for this machine verses a Singer. Do you know where I can find the parts to do this with instructions?
I hope I can help with your question. First if you have never timed a sewing machine, Please remove the feed dog so you can see more clearly. He shows in his video right past the 12:00 minute mark the screw in the front of the needle bar assembly that you can loosen to adjust the needle bar height. When you turn the handle wheel to lower the needle bar there are two scribed marks on the needle bar. The lower line is the timing mark and the upper line is the needle depth. Set the depth by lining up the mark to the bottom of the drive assembly's bushing at the lowest point of the needle penetration. That will be the total depth of penetration. Make sure the scarf of the needle is square to the hook and not tilted. Tighten the screw for the needle bar. As the needle rises close to an eighth of an inch is where you set your hook to needle timing. That should be the lower line on the needle bar lined up with the bottom of the lower bushing again. This is where you set the timing. The timing is always set with the needle bar rising never while it is going down!
Your welcome. I am retired now but I was industrial sewing machine mechanic for about 45 years. The Pfaff 130 is a great machine as close as you can get to industrial as you will find. It's the only machine i bought for myself. If you have one consider yourself lucky! @@COTINHAify

Don't have machine anymore.

Search on ebay.com for new double plug wiring including foot control. Don't use old wiring and old foot controller.
Thank you!
Dear Sir, Could you tell me how to adjust the height of the needle bar, please? Thank you!
