I have had my Pfaff 360 since my mom bought it in Germany in the 60’s. I was born 61 and this is the machine I learned to sew when I was 9, made all my clothes in high school, took it to university and did repairs for extra cash, made my wedding dress, started a business making wedding apparel, made all my children’s clothes. It is now 2024 and it is my only sewing machine. It purrs and is amazing machine. I’m was looking to buy a new one but this is “mine”. I just can’t imagine using another machine. ❤

I was about to say "How I wish I knew what screw goes where.". Only parts I dare cleaning are the feet dog, the bobbin case, and the wheel. Less than 10 screws to worry about.
That’s such a good sound. I used to fall asleep to the sound of mom sewing on the Pfaff 360. I don’t think mine came with the gray base plate. Interesting.

Unfortunately, I did not record making it. When I started this channel I needed a backdrop and Stacey convinced me to try my hand at applique instead of buying a piece of art for the wall. I just kind of made it up as I went along. I cut out the machines on our Cricut machine and basically made a 7 foot table runner out of it. I am not a very confident sewer, but I am really lucky to have such a supportive wife that patiently teaches me along the way :) Thanks for the comment and thank you for watching!

I use painters masking tape for marking the areas I want/ need to keep track of and yoghurt cups for the various accouterments that go with each machine
Myself, I replace the screws back into the holes they came out of as soon as possible. Just threaded in a few turns. Or stuck into the assembly they belong to, where they belong.
Thank you! This was great and helpful as I'm a sewing machine newbie and I just inherited a Pfaff 360. I do have a question if you are willing. At 16:33, just before you've put the needle plate back on, I see that there is an empty screw hole, just to the right of the feed dog plate, toward the front of the machine. On mine, there's a screw in that hole but I can't figure out why, or what it does. I took the screw out during cleaning and dutifully returned it to original location, but it isn't holding anything and seeing yours without the screw makes me wonder what it's for!
Lol. Ya I forgot to return that screw until after filming. I figured out that I had an extra screw later in the day and installed it. Not sure that I remember what it was for but probably good to have it installed. Good luck with your machine. Thanks for watching!
I have a two tone Pfaff 360. I have not sewn in 40 years, maybe longer. I have some questions, like you think I can sew vinyl seat covers (marine vinyl) ?? Can I add a piping foot to this ? Where might I find one ? Thank you for your patience with my rudimentary questions.
That's great that you are getting back into sewing after a long break :) In my opinion, this machine would probably sew through marine vinyl if you went slow with it, but I am not sure that it will like the hard work. Maybe it would have been a good upholstery machine when it was new but this many years later, I am not sure it would last. It is my favorite machine for light duty work like piecing quilt tops. Not sure about the piping foot. If you could find one on Ebay, I am sure it would install fine, just haven't tried myself. Good luck!
Quick question - does the sewing hook on your machine spin freely? On all the machines I've encountered the hook is locked in place and can only be moved by turning the flywheel. However on my newly acquired Pfaff 362, I can spin it freely by hand at the bobbin area. I have a problem that I'm trying to resolved and think that this maybe the cause. Unfortunately I don't have another machine to compare. Thanks
Thanks for the question. To my knowledge, all hooks should be locked in place unless you are turning the main gears. The bobbin case, as well, should be locked in place. If either the hook assembly or the bobbin case in spinning freely, your machine will not operate properly. I would take apart the hook assembly and re-install correctly. Hopefully it was just put together wrong and you do not have anything broken. Good luck!
There is a service manual for a Pfaff 360 (which is what I have) on a page I can't mention by name. It starts with Ar and ends with chive. You can get a PDF there. Just do an internet search for Pfaff 360 service manual and it should come up. I didn't see one for the 362, but they aren't that much different. Good luck!
Your timing belt has come adrift, I'm sorry to say. That said, it's a pretty easy job to put it back on. The trick is to put it back on so it's in time correctly.
@@theprojectproject01 It turned out to be that the finger was not engaging properly with the sewing hook. All is good now. Made the adjustment and gave it a .7mm gap. Thanks
I have the same machine but the problem is that it only sews in a zigzag, and I am looking for the straight line or is the problem. Please answer? THANKS
It sounds like your knob that controls the zig zag width is gummed up or broken. If you remove the lid you should be able to see the mechanism trying to switch between straight and zigzag. It might just need cleaned and oiled.
Thanks for the questions. As far as your needle hitting the bobbin case...this being a zigzag machine, I would make sure your needle position lever is not stuck or sticking in the wrong position. After that I would look at the timing of your hook assembly to make sure your needle and hook are interacting properly. As far as your foot pedal goes...not sure if your pedal has carbon stacks or if it is electronically controlled, but either way I would take the cover off and isolate where the sparks are coming from. Sparks are caused by current jumping from one source to another. If that other source is carbon build-up, then you can clean and re-assemble. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for making the video! I bought a sewing table and they gave me this machine too, so useful to find out how to clean and fix it. I am having some trouble with the dials still - they're not turning and are very stiff. Is there a way to fix these?
Thanks you so much! The dials get stiff because the old lubricants get gummy. If you can (carefully) remove them, or get to the backside of them, you can clean the mechanisms and apply sewing machine oil to them. Gently work them back and forth until they free up. Careful because the knobs break and are hard to find.
Burning smells from a sewing machine can vary from built-up dust on the motor brushes to failing electrical components in the power supply system and/or the wiring itself. I would make sure to isolate the origin of the burning smell before using.

I recently bought a same machine but it doesn't have the embroidery mechanism... Can i look for one to be placed in? Or it is impossible?
Great question. I would not think you could add the stitch options as it would require additional knob functionality as well.
