After watching your Wayward Children vlog, I listened to the entirety of Lost in the Moment and Found on a late night hike, and I had to stop several times and lean on something or sit down because I was sobbing uncontrollably. None of the other books in the series have had that big of an emotional impact on me and I haven't given any of them more than 3 stars, so that was unexpected to say the least 😅

One of my new year's resolutions is to PUSH (haha) myself to read more horror and sci-fi, genres I don't usually gravitate towards. So I've checked out both Foe and We Spread from the library!! Gideon is SO GOOD. The whole series really deeply rewards re-reads, too. I finished my 4th read of it as my first book in 2023! This is the only series that makes me rabid for the fandom and making conspiracies (this last re-read I essentially started compiling my own personal wiki, lmao)
I consider Gideon to be very Dark Academia given the mystery, the character dynamics, the forbidden knowledge and puzzles, all the libraries and laboratories, etc.
But I will say-- starting in Harrow the series gets a LOT more outer space-y. It has a totally different vibe while retaining much of the sarcasm/humor/memes of the first one (more memes, actually) and starts to get _really_ bonkers but in the best way. ;)
