Yesterday a friend of mine died on her way to school. She was a member of both the top choirs with me and so my choir sang this song in remembrance of her. I love you Sammy. R.I.P
And I thought the all-state performance of this was great, this soloist is amazing. I think the highlight of my choral carear was singing The Last Words of David, & the other amazing pieces with the reading choir under Dr. Raines Direction at the FMEA Conference. Amazing, I will never forget it.
I like this style better than the passive, reflective version most choirs perform. It's more soulful and tells more of the story in my opinion. Well done.
Soul (check), big numbers (check), big sound (check), Too much all at once (check) i will say though, the differenciations in dynamics that are eventually played with: Very nice
Other, much more classical versions I prefer. But I am quite the classical choir nerd. Just too bright and lacks much dynamic variance. Listen to the Conchordia choir sing it That is my favorite. Regardless, well done.
We sang this in a 6 choir mass choir my senior year, and the soloist is VERY much supposed to be a lot softer. Bad choice. Also, in general too strong from most of the choir, soft intros better, and not so staccato. But, still sounds overall nice :)
I love what the conductor chose to do with the piece. He chose to make the text a clarion call of the dream rather than a reflection.

Whoa there soloist, I can't sleep when you're singing like that.
i have to say that i prefer this song done like a soft melody that just floats in the air.
Got goosebumps

I think that, depending on the mood, both are great. For example, this choir version in the church is more suited than a quite ghostly version.

Yup, I had the same reaction. Way too much volume. Guy was showin' off.
Cried
This is not "HE MEN," this is about dreams buddy.
Soloist is good, timing is off though they feel "slow".
the soloists voice is too strong
