Good comments about her use of dynamics. It's on a macro level in this song but you'll also hear it within single lines and phrases in Mamamoo songs. MMM's use of dynamics is uncommon in pop music these days. Their phrasing and voice manipulation and the variety of singing styles in their vocal arsenal is as good as it gets. Even when they were rookies they came across as mature artists among a flock of teen idols. It's a golden eagle and tho it's not mentioned in the lyrics, it's very symbolic in the MV, which was shot in Mongolia. Kudos for catching the phoenix symbolism and the journey from the golden eagle to the eagle's golden eye to the flaming sun with Solar dancing like a Solar Flare. In your first view you seemed to think the final scene with the credits was just meaningless but it's shot from the eagle's perspective to represent her liberated spirit flying free and wild. Most Mamamoo MVs are equally artistic and symbolic, tho I think many people miss the extra layers of meaning because their vocals and visuals steal the show.
Thank you for watching and the kind words! Glad I was able to get most of this right haha. Also, thank you for confirming the gold eagle, turns out I know birds a little better than I thought lol. I know falcons are very important in Mongolian culture, at least amongst the nomads so I wondered if it might have been that though I didn't know it was shot in Mongolia until you said so. I appreciate the feedback and extra knowledge :D I'm not sure I thought it was a meaningless scene, especially amongst everything else that all had meaning, but I will say I don't think I grasped the extent of it on that listen. I've mentioned in previous vids that there are some songs that sound great but get even better when paired with the MV. I think this is one of those songs. The MV really highlights the artistry and gives a clearer picture of the message here.
@@JeffReacts12 You'll see how important MVs are with Mamamoo when you get to their epic 4 album series 4 Season 4 Color and the various kinds of cyclical symbolism they explored in the songs & MVs (seasons, colors, a relationship cycle, a life cycle, etc). Imo kpop isn't just music, it's a multi-disciplinary art form that includes music, dance, fashion and video. It's really a team sport and one of the things that makes Mamamoo different is that they're involved in every aspect as creators, not just performers, including songwriting, choreography, styling and MV concepts. Mamamoo has more songwriting credits than any girl group in kpop history. Solar co-wrote the lyrics of But I with her longtime creative partner Kim Dohoon, the co-CEO of RBW. She wrote or co-wrote the lyrics and music for 5 of the 6 songs on the new album. Every song is in a different musical genre, hence the album's title Colours. She spelled it that way to emphasize Ours as a celebration of diversity and community through a variety of musical colors. My favorite song on the album is Blues - I think it's one of her best solo tracks. 😊
@kudgeond755 yea mamamoo is very collectively and individually talented. It's cool to see them shine! I hope Solar's comeback is well received! Perhaps someday I'll have time to do a deeper dive into their older stuff but it seems like a very long way off at this point, though I do love me some enjoyable artistry haha.
So artistic and personal about solars new path from old self it feels
I don't know much about her or her life to this point so I can't say but it was a beautiful and artistic video for sure!
