As soon as you mentioned yhe transmission, I got flashbacks. My 01 330i had the reverse go bad. Couldn't nack up the car for 2 years. Eventually sold it.

Hi, what brand is the air intake housing that is covering the filter? Does this car have HID factory headlights? Just curious because if the headlights are factory HID that intake cover would not work and interested to know since my E46 has factory HID

These are cheap entry level bmws. If its manual, it will have cracks around the subfeame mounts. Even automatics can be cracked and torn. The ONLY way to see is to REMOVE THE REAR SUBFRAME. Saying I looked at lots of cars and they were fine , is a cop out. YES Even automatic cars tear the mounts. At the very very least, the most important thing to check pre purchase , you need to remove ALL the carpet and insulation to see the ENTIRE trunk floor from the top where the subframe mounts , do not just check the strut top mounts in the trunk. I dont believe this car in the video has perfect mounts untill you remove the subframe to see if its been reinforced already. Pre purchase, also check the front shock top mounts. The three bolts should be parallel. The body will mushroom and the three bolts will all tip towards the out side, eventually it may even tear the top front shock mounts. These issues are a result from early computer aided design that chose metals that were too thin. Rust may make it worse, however its not a rust related issue. Ive worked on dozens of these cars. I have seen 2 cars with very low miles and an automatic trans that did not show significant signs of failure, still cracks starting tho. Some cars i worked on already had the reinforcement plates installed. One had the vince bar installed. Two were ruined by incompitent repairs that shifted the mount points. Some cars that were totally torn out ruinied. Most cars you could only see the real damage after pulling the subframe so you can actually see the mounts behind the subfrane, then you can inspect condition / repairs/ glued or weilded.
