  • Hi there, thanks for watching!
I saw that Sonicware dropped a new firmware update for the Lofi12XT, so I installed it to check out some of the new features.
    How to update the device:
Follow the instructions on Sonicware's website - www.sonicware....
    New Filter types:
The LSF and HSF filters sound pretty cool. Modulating them in real time gives a nice wah sound - I'm sure combining this with the LFO could be really cool. And the PEQ filter could be useful for sound shaping if you want to reduce or boost a specific frequency.
    Even Slice mode:
This mode is accessed from the slice screen by pressing the leftmost button just below the screen, and lets you quickly sketch chops with more control than an auto-chop feature. When active, you use the B knob to change the length of the slice, which changes all the slices that go across the whole sample. There is also a point where if the length of the slice is over a certain value, less pads will be used for the chops. and you can adjust the start point of where the even slices begin with the A knob.
    Pitch adjustment by semitone:
This semitone step mode is accessed by holding func and pressing the B knob, and makes it so that when you turn the B knob, it snaps to semitone values like -7 or -10 instead of needing to dial in an exact value like -700 or -1000. This makes it easy to quickly audition different pitches of a sample.
    PTN mute function:
This setting is accessed from the system menu (func + play) and allows you to have the sequence playing with a track muted, but you can still trigger pads on the muted track. This might be useful for live performances, where you could mute the track that has the sample chops and then playing some chops live, or mute a track with a chromatic sample and play a solo.
    All Sound Off feature:
This button combination (CLR and play) allows you to kill audio playing from the device. This is very useful for samples with long sustain or decay because previously when you pressed play to stop the sequence, you would have to listen to the whole sample to play out.
Empty sample tracks blink dark red:
This feature makes it easier to see when you might accidentally record over a track that already has a sample assigned - tracks that already have a sample blink in dark red and tracks with a sample on them blink in light red. Although as you can see in the video, the difference between the dark red and light red glow is pretty subtle. It's still a great idea - I've accidentally recorded samples into slots that had samples in them and I lost all my slice points, so a feature like this can help avoid those situations. Just wish it was a more obvious color like white or orange.
