Maddie: Finally we're leaving first part of November and will stay in Mazatlan for some weeks before going south to some different beaches but for sure in late spring plan to stay at the RV park in Jocotepec (near Ajijic) for some weeks.
Hola.. One thing that I hear and see watching your adventure unfold for 4 years is.... drum roll.. Mexico has changed "you" a lot. Confidence, demeanor, just almost a glow about Maddie. I know it hasn't been easy, far from it. Enjoy yourself. I noticed in this video the sky was so blue and colors very bright.
Great Info! We would add volunteer to your list. When Covid hit, the food bank was in dire need of help. Volunteering led us to most of our friends both foreign and local, many of which we would likely not have the opportunity meet.
Maddie, you are great! You are so good at relating your experiences in a common sense way to your viewers. I can't imagine that anyone cannot be helped by watching you!
I believe that people in general do NOT realize how huge Mexico is and how diverse is. Literally 10 blocks away can be a completely different vibe. We like to book a place for one month at a time to get the “real” feel of a place. We love Mexico in all the places we have been. There is a place for everyone there really. The only thing we didn’t really enjoy as much was the resort experience. It was too..... idk sanitized? For us.
Hi Maddie! It’s great to see you back on top of your world; great advice/tips/reminders for everyone looking for a fresh start. Hoping for great things for you in your new home by the lake, and looking forward to hearing more about whatever you share. I have followed you from the early videos, and it’s a joy to see your new content. You go, girl! 🎉❤
Excellent video Maddie really enjoyed it. After living here for 20 years you took us to different streets and places we have not seen. Nice to see things through new eyes is very refreshing. We just seem to go do our daily chores and head right home again but at our age, we don’t have the same energy you do as a youngster. Keep up the good work, you are doing a wonderful job. Love your videos.
Great video as always Maddie! I started following your travels years ago and it gave me the courage to take the leap as a gringo to move to Brazil! I have been living abroad for over a year now and I honestly don’t think I would have been able to navigate all the challenges of living in a foreign land without your insight and positive encouragement always. Thanks for helping me to live my best life and experience something I otherwise could have only dreamt about!
@@raindances3310 it’s honestly great. So the dollar (don’t know if you’re American also) is at an amazing exchange rate right now of $1=$5.30 Brazilian Reis. We originally stayed in Ubatuba, São Paulo (Beach town with a lot of tourists during the summer months and more pricey than other towns, but beautiful, clean and mostly safe). For the past year we have been staying in Matao, São Paulo and it’s been a blessing. Extremely cheap, very safe, great people and even better food. We are considering a home here now
Welcome to Ajijic! Thanks for being so kind and tolerant to us last Sunday when we interrupted your lunch. Hope you liked the pepper jelly and forgive our excitement at seeing you. Maybe see you again around town!
So glad your subscription numbers are ticking back up- I know this has been a year of growth, set-backs and change and I can really see you starting to emerge again and get your feet firmly back on the ground. Continued best wishes for you and only good energy being sent your way!
Maddie! What a great video. After vlogging for so long it may be easy to assume that viewers just know what you know about Mexico. This video takes a step back and re-boots for the benefit of first time travelers in Mexico. BTW... I love the walk through Ajijic. One of my favorite places on earth.
Oh, Maddie! SO good to see that you've settled in Ajijic where I spent two of the best years of my life. I regret that I was not there now to go for coffee with you. I agree with everything you said about meeting people, certainly in Ajijic where I made so many good friends. The local folks are the kindest, warmest, most friendly people I ever met. Always willing to help and forgive your Spanglish. I would only had one caution based on my experience and that is be careful who you trust. I got ripped off of all my jewelry by a girl I was just trying to help with food for her "baby" and my driver of almost two years stole half my stuff when he moved me. Stay there, girl, and do the Real Estate gig. You'll be wildly successful.
Hola Maddie, I am pleased to see you so upbeat and excited about your new move. You really seem to be thriving and growing in your life experience. Much Luv.
Maddie this was great! Lots of info, excellent video and editing and your good personality all came through. I think this is your best one, good job! ☮️❤️😎
I agree with Miguel B. that volunteering is a great way to meet people. Not sure if they still do, but Saturday mornings at 11 (I think) the Lake Chapala Society held free english lessons for locals. If/when I move there that will be something I'll be interested in for sure. Sending you hugs and many thanks Maddie 🥰 I find you very inspiring.
Glad to see you settled in a new place. Stay put for a while and enjoy where you are in life. You seem happy now.. Keep making more videos, we love to see you tell your story and show us what Mexico has to offer.

Wow! I’ve been watching a lot of your videos since YT found you for me! ❤️ You have such amazing tips and advice! Honestly I’m teary eyed right now from happiness of having found you! I was feeling so anxious about my move because I know nothing of my own country from being away for 27 years. Yet now that I found your channel I CAN’T WAIT to go home. Awww Maddie... I love how you walked on those pebble stone roads, all those trees... brought back memories of my grandparents' house in a small town called La Mora, in Jalisco. You have such an amazing personality, I love your content. Would you consider doing a video interviewing alternative modes of healing, like a "huesero" man? The ones that massage body parts back into place, you know what I mean? Or a curandera? It's October, those topics would be very interesting. Sending you a huge hug! 🤗
I love the idea of trying a place first, but my wife and I bought in La Paz during a weekend trip there (and we didn't even know it existed before the trip.) So far it's been a great decision. Enjoy Ajijic!
Great video! Facebook groups are a wealth of information and nothing can replace staying a week or two in an Air BnB to help you decide if a place is right for you! We moved to Mexico a little over a year ago with the goal to slow travel throughout the country for 2-3 years. We lived in Merida for one month, Progreso for one year, and we are currently moving into a long term rental in Coatepec, Veracruz (just south of Xalapa). We did a ton of research before moving to Merida and we really enjoyed our time in Progreso, we learned that a lot of what we saw on RUclips and read in blogs was heavily skewed to the positive. We completely 'get' this as it is probably easier to get and keep subscribers when the videos are positive but it did teach us to be more critical consumers 😃 now when we see a video we look at the background and think about how long the person has spent in the place. I trust videos like yours where the person has spent a month or two in a city way more than those that visited for a weekend.
Thanks for your videos and tips as always. We are currently visiting family in Ajijic, our 5th time. Glad that you found a place you love. One day your tips may become very helpful to us if we decide to move here ourselves.

Great info Maddie. I have this year found myself as a single white female in México as well, albeit much older. All really good tips for choosing a location, meeting people and learning the ropes. I would also recommend riding the local combi as a way to "tour" the town and see the different neighbourhoods.

Completely agree: joining Facebook groups and using my bad Spanish language skills have been incredibly valuable. I was lucky enough to move into an apartment with a great group of neighbors (some permanent, some Airbnb), all of which has made our move to the Lake Chapala area smoother. We love it here!
Wow Maddie! Congrats on the move to Ah-Antique! (kidding) Love it there. My folks live very near the beautiful town of San Juan Cosala, just down the road at the Racket Club. You should really see their place. My Stepdad is a minimalist architechet and there place it UNREAL to see. Very unique. We visit often. As usual, great video. We have been following you for about 4 years. Bravo.
10:39 whoa whoa whoa Maddie, you end this with your next best video topic!!! I thought moving to MX was EXACTLY same but cheaper! please TELL. that was such a mysterious way to end the video!😮
How about a video, or part of a video, that addresses how you deal with being away from family members in the U.S.? Do you go back? Do you get visitors? How did your family react, do they accept your choice?
I resubscribed Maddie. You are acting much more mature and centered and you gave some good advice, especially about research, it used to be much harder before cell phones and the internet. Looking forward to your next post.
Spot on this was all the things we did when we moved to Puerto Morelos. We watched all the Tangerine Travel videos when you lived here. Good job on this video 👍
Good Move Maddie, Ajijic. I commented to you before about that great deal of a new home in Ajijic for you. I hope you were able to buy it. When you add it ALL up, Ajijic just can't be beat. Perfect weather year round, 30 minutes to International Airport, sooooo many good restaurants that you'll never get a chance to try them all, gorgeous waterfront and mountain views, so many Americans living there to support you, but still a great Mexican vibe. I'm in Florida now, getting ready for a 3 week European adventure, then back to Ajijic December 1 for 3 weeks, then back in Ajijic all of February and March. Hope I somehow get a chance to meet you.
Maddie, I have a Old Prius, two 45 # dogs. I want to drive down. Queretero ? Lake Chapala ? **low street dogs….. ???what are your thoughts on driving down? Single female ?

I love you Maddi!` Don't be such a stranger - even do a short video!
I'm doing my best to maintain a once-a-week video posting schedule but it's a lot of work 😅 I do have vlogs lined up for the next month though!
@@MaddieGold it's good to see you, got to keep engaged, we love to see you grow your channel, best wishes.
I watch shorts everyday from a couple of YTers.
Completely agree: joining Facebook groups and using my bad Spanish language skills have been incredibly valuable. I was lucky enough to move into an apartment with a great group of neighbors (some permanent, some Airbnb), all of which has made our move to the Lake Chapala area smoother. We love it here!
Another great video Maddie ! Thank you so much for the great advise !
Great video, Maddie, and looking forward to more from your new location. Have fun in Ajijic!
Hello Maddie! So nice to get a brand new video from you. Now I will concentrate on the content. Bye!
That Ajijic weather looks amazing. I would easily spend November-April there, that would be enough, can't have too much of a good thing...
The weather here is pretty awesome indeed!
Welcome to lakeside. We’ve been here 5 years now and love it.
Loving all your videos showing properties now ! So helpful!❤
Bravo.
6:55 Truly GOLDEN
Lol…that jump to Gong that Bell at the end had me laughing 😂 You are Awesome!
Great tips Maddie and I hope you enjoy your time at Ajijic
Aww thanks Sherri! I was trying to shake it up with the bell gong this time hehe
Nice introduction.. people need to be crystal clear why they are there and adjust expectations & start exploring accordingly 😁
Oh yeah, great gonging. Keep coming up with novel ways to do it.
Thanks Maddie, your videos are extremely informative. Plan on following your advice. Looking forward to your next video. 🙂
Maddie-- great video! Wonderful to meet you in your new town!
Thanks, enjoyed watching. All the best!
I resubscribed Maddie. You are acting much more mature and centered and you gave some good advice, especially about research, it used to be much harder before cell phones and the internet. Looking forward to your next post.
Hi Maddie: Love your videos. Your expertise and advice is much appreciated. For me, I prefer staying in couple hotels rather than Air B&B.
Spot on this was all the things we did when we moved to Puerto Morelos. We watched all the Tangerine Travel videos when you lived here. Good job on this video 👍
Good to see you! I miss you when you skip a week. Always look forward to your vids! Congrats on your new location. ❤🤗
Mexican vibe??
It’s a Mexican town. Lol.
Maddie, I have a Old Prius, two 45 # dogs. I want to drive down. Queretero ? Lake Chapala ? **low street dogs….. ???what are your thoughts on driving down? Single female ?
Very practical tips. Keep up the good work!
Nice video Maddie. I live in Nayarit but I'm thinking of moving inland after 3 years. It's too humid for me on the coast. I'm considering Guanajuato area and will be making my first visit soon. Thanks for all the tips..
