Surprisingly, not so much I live in a 6000 population town in PA. it's surprisingly has a relatively large gay population for its size And relatively safe as well. The area is conservative too. Most people don't care what you do in your bedroom.

Please give more context, I live in a very small town near Joplin, Missouri and there basically is no community here. Almost every city of substantial size has a community. I only know of one crappy gay bar within fifty miles of my location, pretty depressing.

I’m from Oklahoma, I’m a lesbian and I got to OKC dressed as I wanted to dress and had no problem with it. There is a large group of people who are LGBTQ+ and also have a gay town there in Okc.

Dallas is a great city for LGBTQ folks. It has a comprehensive non-discrimination ordinance, LGBTQ representation in local government, and a thriving gay district, and is the home of one of the largest LGBTQ churches in North America and a first class HIV/LGBTQ healthcare agency. It's also the reason for HRC's Federal Club. Its Roundup Saloon is one of the first places Lady Gaga performed. Dallas is a hub for culture (largest contiguous arts district in the US), shopping/fashion, and fine dining. The main airport is the 3rd busiest in the US and the economy is booming (jobs, anyone?). Houston is now a worse place in my view (it wasn't always so) but the top 3 Texas metro areas are all fine. Just don't go to small town Texas wearing hot pants and you'll be fine.

I have visited Dallas a few years ago with a blind friend where is could tell we were gay and we were always treated very well. Plus they do have a gay Strip.
Kansas City isn't too terrible. We just had the Missouri Gaye radio associations 27th rodeo in the American Royal and we didn't get any hate that I know of and I was volunteer coordinator
A lot of these cities are plagued with anti-LGBT legislation at the state level. ( Often with the intent of undermining local legislation designed to protect us. ). The higher ranking ones also have a disproportionate amount of violence against LGBT folks. There may be good spots in each of the cities but it doesn't negate the previously mentioned problems.
