  • Let's establish that nobody in this video was speeding. There was nobody behind me, so I slowed down to about 60 mph in a 70 zone so that the officer would pass me quickly and not notice my missing plate stickers (stolen). I just thought that this was a funny and interesting video to share. Enjoy!

      You'll find that people driving 5 or even 10 over the limit are not the people causing accidents and traffic jams. It is the morons, like left lane drivers, people who take forever to start moving when the light turns green, people who create a gap between them and the next driver that is ten times more than necessary for the speed, people who won't use turn signals, people that cannot figure out how to negotiate a 4 way stop, it goes on and on and on.

      @@bandit99515it's just because so many people are absolute idiots and do not understand driving statistics because I never took an actual class or sat through Court when they didn't have their own ticket to deal with in most of the people that are out there on the road were taught how to drive by Mommy and Daddy. Too many people don't think while they're driving don't even think about the reality that in a panic situation people are miss me more likely to need to change lanes rather than just panic and slam on their brakes and hope that that does everything I need to avoid a situation. So any driver with any training at all knows that one of the most dangerous things you can possibly do on the road is to drive the same speed as the lane next to you.
      They're very few laws that are consistent in every single state in the United States but one of them is driving the right most Lane except for passing and do not impede faster traffic. This does not suggest that you should speed however it does clarify that you're just making the situation unnecessarily dangerous by leaving the right lane without passing and you're disobeying the law if you leave the right lane without passing and you're breaking the law if you impede faster traffic even if they're speeding. And you're going against the designers of the law and the designers of the road.
      you want things to be safe keep right except to pass and do not impede faster traffic and learn the laws in your jurisdiction because driving the right most Lane and do not impede faster traffic is a law in each and every state. Tell me your state and I'll tell you the traffic code for your jurisdiction.

    There are three types of drivers: 1) Those peeved about people driving slow in the left lane, 2) people who do this and aren't aware that they're a problem, and 3) people who think they're some sort of citizen cop and intentionally do it to "police" other drivers. Depends on how you define "slow." Some states don't have a law saying the lefthand lane is only for passing. Yet there's not a single sign in this area reading "Slower traffic keep right," or anything like that. But commemorative signs for roads, bridges, interchanges, and even sidewalks, are just everywhere. I'm sure that all these commemorative designations are for good, noble, even heroic (or sometimes just rich) people; but we need to start taking care of practical matters in order to keep people alive and safe now.

    Here is the correct portion of the law that applies in this case. Exemption one did not apply because of the officer was directly behind the vehicle for a good half mile or more:
    (1) when no other vehicle is directly behind the vehicle in the left lane."

    I started driving in the UK in 1972 and we were taught to drive in the nearside lane 1 unless overtaking or turning right. Then came the 3 lane MOTORWAYS and for some reason drivers assumed, lane 1 was for trucks and coaches etc. Lane 2 was cars and lane 3 to overtake, or for VIPs and Large expensive cars. Ordinary cars had to get out of there way and if Mr. VIP was driving slow well they just had to follow. At that time there was no speed limit and Mr. Lotus could easily keep up or be even faster than Mr. VIPs Jaguar and so undertaking took place together with some weaving, two fingered gestures and bad language though at 100 mph the words went with the wind.
    Then to make matters even worse the 70mph speed limit gradually came in, cars became faster and the car train in lane 3 was invented. This where my brother became rich as he had a wrecker truck and his garage was near the lower end of the M1 Motorway. The lead car of the car train would drive into a fog bank, slam on his brakes and the carriages would shunt into one another. No the game was to get as many cars off the motorway as quick as possible, so brother would tow them to a near by side road, dump them and tear back for another, when the road was clear he then picked up the dumped ones.
    The police have tried to stop the lane crawlers but with cuts to the police force, the problem is getting worse. Together with the lane 3 to exit divers, the weavers and LHD wagons that are the biggest 2020 problem.

    Hey, do you have a legit dashcam now or are you still using your smartphone? Also, who the heck steals registration stickers? I live in Pennsylvania and I've been driving the same truck for more than 7 years. My registration comes due in August and I just stick the new sticker over the old one. My truck's a 2010 bought new in September 2009, and I'm pretty sure I have registration stickers going all the way back to 2010 on there.

    "Slower traffic keep right"
    or "keep right except to pass"
    are two ways of saying the exact same thing that are the law in this country and people will argue that the law doesn't apply if the sign is not currently there.

      KAPETA33 What frustrates me the most about all the left lane hogs here in upstate NY is how 95% of them ignore me flashing my highbeams at them. Flash-to-pass is one of the basic highway etiquette things I learned in traffic school before I even got my license. I refuse to pass on the right in those situations since it's way too dangerous and I've seen several accidents happen that way, but there are far too many impatient people who don't have that inhibition. Wharrgarbl.

    • @rushore1

      They do have one. Vehicle code 21654 states: "Notwithstanding the prima facie speed limits, any vehicle proceeding upon a highway at a speed less than the normal speed of traffic moving in the same direction at such time shall be driven in the right-hand lane for traffic or as close as practicable to the right-hand edge or curb, except when overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction or when preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway."

    Left lane hogging happens all the time here - despite signs saying "slower traffic keep right." One idiot will be cruising along with his hairy arm out the window not giving a damn that there are 10 cars backed up behind him. Unfortunately cops don't seem to care about it. I've seen a cop flash his lights at someone in the left lane once and I think that was just because he wanted to get past them.

    People feel entitled to drive in the left lane and block traffic up because they are driving the speed limit. I would love to see the police to take this more seriously and start ticketing drivers for impeding traffic and aggressive driving. If people would show a little courteously on the roads that would stop a majority of the tailgating and such which as seen can be equally as bad. I have lived in the DFW area for 20 years now, each year this gets more and more prevalent.

    I know the left lane is known as the 'passing' lane but maybe the driver was going to make a left turn soon so he was driving on the left lane and also there's no other cars on the road.. I don't see what's the big deal. Now, if there were other cars on the road then the driver should be driving on the right side lane.

    • @rushore1
      @rushore1 2 года назад

      You don't make a left hand turn on a controlled access highway. The only defense this driver has is the abandoned car on the right shoulder, which he can see he was avoiding since many states have laws requiring you to move over for cars on the shoulder. Oh, and the "other cars on the road" that you speak of are the police car. Doesn't matter what kind of car it is behind you, you're required by law to move right unless actively passing.

  • @OldsVistaCruiser
    @OldsVistaCruiser 6 лет назад

    As far as I can tell, the cop hit his lights AFTER the guy signaled and moved over. I consider that a defense that the cop didn't pull the guy over until after he had already complied. If that had happened in Pennsylvania, your video would have gotten the case thrown out.

    • @HaloMasterMind117
      @HaloMasterMind117  6 лет назад

      The violation had already occurred. That's like saying that a speeder can't be cited for the violation if he slowed down when he saw the cop.

    • @rushore1
      @rushore1 2 года назад

      He was in that lane for at least a 1/2 mile, and you can tell by the fact that he braked originally, he knew someone was behind him the entire time. The cop did the right thing and gave him ample time to move right, and he was more than likely going to light him up at that exact moment, regardless of whether the SUV signaled.

  • @cashie3694
    @cashie3694 8 лет назад

    Rewatching this my thought is that he stayed in the left lane to pass you and was going to get over then say the stalled car on the right shoulder around :30 and stayed over and didn't get over when he should have once the cop came up on him. Who knows though.
